  1. Considering doing B2B 7 night Caribbean cruises on Celebrity Reflection November 2014. Have done many past cruises on Celebrity. So questions are:

How do they handle logistics for B2B passengers on embark/debark day? You will get a letter with instructions to your SR the day before the first cruise ends

Since we will have the same cabin on both cruises do we have to close out our account after 1st cruise? Yes.

Are we issued new SeaPass cards for the 2nd cruise? Yes.

Realize that the 7 day menu plan will repeat / there will be 1 more Formal Night than on a 14 night cruise / the Elite+ events will be on the 7 night schedule / etc.....

When the menu repeats, this will give you a chance to dine in the Specialty restaurants since you will know what you want to miss!

Are there any other types of differences experienced Back 2 Backers can relate?? You will be required to do the muster drill again. If you are in the MDR, Sometimes they come around on the last night of the first cruise and ask you where you would like to sit for the next cruise but not always. Sometimes there is a special lunch on embarkation day btwn the cruises for the back to backers but we have never seen this.

  2. This is our second cruise (Celebrity Reflection, Eastern Caribbean 7-days, out of Miami, 1/25-2/1/14); however, it's been 12 years. Our cruise was booked by a travel agent both times. I have a few questions.

    (1) We are arriving via air into Miami Saturday morning, 1/25, and have a transfer from the airport to the port. Do you usually carry your bags to your cabin or do you check them through to your room, and just bring a carry-on bag with necessities for the first few hours? You leave your suitcases with a porter (a tip is a good idea) and just take your carry-ons with you. Depending on when you arrive rooms may not be ready. They are usually ready by 1:30

    (2) Same question on last day: Do you put your bags outside your room by 10:00p on Friday night or do you carry them from your room off the ship? The travel agent advised setting them outside the room and then "reuniting" with them at check-out to "merge" your overnight items before checking them at the airport. You can do either. If you elect to do self embarkation, you must be able to carry all your bags and you exit the ship among the first to disembark. This is a preferable if you have an early flight. Otherwise you put your suitcases outside the cabin door and you pick them up later.

    (3) Also, we are booked for the 8:30p dining: Is there open seating too? - Can we dine during the open seating period if we want to eat earlier than 8:30p? Yes, there is open seating. You have to reserve this and prepay your gratuities. You can't switch back and forth between Select dining and traditional.

    (4) We have the 8:30p dining. On our last cruise (12 years ago), we were assigned to sit with another couple and they were our table-mates for the duration of the cruise. Can we sit by ourselves or are we assigned another couple to sit with for the duration? Last cruise, the other couple was really nice but they were newlyweds and probably preferred to be by themselves so they weren't really compatible with us. If you are assigned to a table for 8:30 dining, that is your table. If you do not like your tablemates, you can request a change from the Maitre'D and he will do his best to accommodate you. You can also dine at the Specialty restaurants (extra charge) .

    (5) We have a Concierge cabin #1020. What perks go with a Concierge cabin? I don't believe we have access to Blu since it's not Aqua-Class - correct? Do we get special privileges for exiting the ship on the last day? In general, what are the benefits that go with Concierge class? (our cabin was booked by a travel agent) You get a bottle of Sparkling wine in your room and hors d'oeuvres each day. You also get extra points/day for sailing in this class. Cabins are larger on the M class but not on the S class.

    (6) For future reference, how do you decide on a cabin, other than the obvious balcony or no balcony? What's the difference between the front of the ship vs the back of a ship? How do you know which side is "dock-side" so you can take photos from your balcony? Basically, what is the process to pick a cabin?? Always pay attention to what is above you and below (noise can be a problem). Pick a cabin with cabins all around you if you can. No way to know in advance which side of the ship will be dock-side. there is more movement at each end of the ship. However, sitting looking at the wake is mesmerizing.

    (7) I've checked the projected forecast for the ports. However, does anyone know what kind of temperatures we'll experience while at sea? Also, how cool does it get in the evening while at sea? Are there movie nights outdoors on this cruise? Trying to determine if the clothes I pack to wear while in ports (80+ degrees) is the same kind of clothes to plan on wearing while at sea? Should I bring a set of clothes to wear if outdoors in the evening on the ship (in other words, are evenings outdoors on the ship, considered cool)? No way to forecast the weather. No, no movies outside. It can be cool inside the ship so pack a sweater or wrap of some kind. Shorts are not allowed in the dining room in the evening.

  3. Oops, forgot about the OP's question. Like others, I would prefer the 7 day over the 5 day for the same price. I also think the S class ships are beautiful, but we liked the Connie too. We like any Celebrity cruise ship! Have only been on two S class ships and soon to make it 3.

  4. WOW! I wish I could read German because those pictures are FABULOUS! I am sure your review is so interesting. Thank you for sharing!

I agree, the pictures are fabulous. I hope Miaminice doesn't mind me giving the link for the translation of his great review. I tried the "change language" button at the top of the page but it didn't work (maybe because I was not logged into that forum). Google translation works

  5. My long dresses are not jersey fabric but I still roll them to pack and they travel well that way. DH does not have a tux but he takes a dark suit for formal nights. I folded it as shown in the link below. It barely creased at all and any creases that were in the sleeves fell out quickly after we hung it up. We were 3 days in London and 1 in Southampton prior to the cruise with it folded all that time.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  6. The ship is beautiful. As has been said, most of the passengers will be older than you but you will find them to be well travelled and not a senile bunch pushing walkers around. Love the comment about eating jello and drooling! Approaching Spring Break you may see some families with young children. Enjoy your cruise and your well deserved break.

  7. I would go for the balcony. Sitting out there enjoying the sunset or watching the port disappear as you sail out to sea is wonderful. If you think you might be seasick, get some meds before you leave (guest relations gives out pills too). I think if you felt sick you would not be very likely to venture out of your cabin for fresh air somewhere else. Enjoy your cruise and may it be the first of many.

  8. I see the Princess RT 15Ners for as low as $999, which means they are not selling.I never found anyone who wanted to go. So I am on 9/23/14 Solstice which has best(most), ports and one way air required

This is a good price if you want to sail with Princess. I have noticed that the price for one way Solstice to or from Honolulu is very high.

  9. I got bacterial Bronchitis from a terrible cough that was going around the Millennium last year in April. I had two visits to the Dr and I was very impressed with the care. The South African crew were very thorough. I was billed $280.

  10. What I don't eat at home? I order any of the lamb dishes, usually excellent, the escargots, always a special latte w a croissant.

For breakfast, it's a smoothie off the SR menu or at the Aqua Cafe.

    And wine every night!

Love the Bistro on 5. It's $5pp for anything on the menu and love the panini's and the cowboy crepes.

    I could just keep listing....

Here are the dinings I make:

    early breakfast

    Lite Breakfast in our SR

    Regular breakfast

    Brunch

    Lunch

Dunch (a snack between lunch and dinner but closer to lunch)

Linner (a bit more of a snack between dinner and lunch but closer to dinner)

    Dinner

    Evening snack

    Late night snack

    Did I miss anything?

    Den

Yes, you missed afternoon tea at 4:30 and sushi at 5 or is it 5:30?

  11. We have done 3 TA's and 3 TP's and loved them all. We too, like the WB TA sailings for the extra hour you get 6 times. We did an EB to Hamburg on Connie in April and it was a bit rough for a few days near the end. We did find out that having a balcony on a northbound sailing is maybe a waste of money as it is too cold to sit out and there were many days we never opened our balcony door.

We are about to do another TP.

  12. On our recent Eclipse TA it was twice/day on the 8 sea days and then once on the port days. I really enjoyed it. It was taught by a guy called Ron and he was great. I loved the Cupid Shuffle routine we did every time and I have tried to get someone interested in it here but so far no go.

  13. I make thank you cards which I take on the cruise and put our extra tips in those with a little hand written note. I really like the auto tipping system as you can forget about taking a whole lot of cash with you. I once got a hug and a peck on each cheek from a very grateful steward!
