  1. Hello. Was it served "family style" or can you eat with just your group or spouse? The reason I ask is because I know that in Italy, they liked to eat their beef almost raw....and I'd prefer mine medium to almost well and probably can't ask for this if it's "family style". Would love to hear back...... Thank you.
  2. Right now there is one post that encompasses everything Princess Sun. I'm hoping that starting tomorrow when she finally sails, that different Sun Princess topics will have different posts and not all jumbled together on top of the one post now that has over two thousand replies. Just saying....😃
  3. My cruise starts in Barcelona with pre-cruise days, and ends in Rome. I would like to buy a cruise vest with inside pockets to protect against pickpockets. The ScotteVests are WAYYYYY to much money. I will probably only use this vest once or twice. Can someone recommend a brand that isn't as expensive but is still a good protection? Amazon seems to carry alot of "Little Donkey"? Not sure how good they are but they average about $40 Vs. like $179. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  4. Thank you for all of the advice. Speaking of taxis...how would we pay for them. Should we purchase Euros here in the States before we go? Or do taxi's take credit cards? I was planning on bringing both an American Express and a Mastercard. Thanks again for the advice.
  5. Thanks. I do have a Frommers tour book, but for some reason, I can't seem to "remember" all the streets, locations, districts etc. Having total senior brain fog when it comes to deciphering Barcelona. Actually, looking at a map, I thought I could walk from the hotel to the Sagrada Familia. You're saying it's not walkable? What should be our recourse? A taxi?
  6. OK, where am I? LOL. Staying at this hotel pre cruise and I'm getting confused with what area it is in. I know it's across the street from a square. Where can I walk to from the hotel? We are seniors and I am not as adventurous as I used to be, and deathly afraid of pick pockets. Where can we walk safely. My only must see is the Sagrada Familia, everything else is just icing on the cake.
  7. Will be staying in a hotel prior to our cruise right by the Placa de Catalunya. I don't want to take a subway, so I am assuming my best bet would be a taxi correct? If so, around how much would that cost and can I charge it to a credit card or do I have to have Euros? Likewise, I'm assuming the best way to get from that area to the cruise port (Princess cruise) is taxi? If so, again, how much and how should I pay? Thank you.
  8. So, I'm getting a little paranoid as the cruise is SOLD OUT. I paid my final balance today and tried to make dinner reservations in the main dining room (only floors 6 and 7 were on my app). Anyway, it said there were NO TIMES available on ANY EVENING of my cruise. YIKES~~~ Is this just a medallion glitch? Or am I doomed to have buffet every night? By the way, I couldn't book specialty restaurants either (not too concerned as I only have Plus, not Premiere. By the way, I had to pay $10 for shipping the medallions to my home. I thought shipping was free for Plus?
  9. I seem to recall, while staying at the Princess Wilderness Lodge, two years ago, we took a bus for free right from in front of the hotel to the dog kennel place. At least I think it was free?
  10. I booked the Princess Sun for a Med. cruise this spring. I booked in June of 2023 and went with Princess Plus. No where in my travel summary does it say 2 casual dining meals. It does mention the desserts and 2 fitness classes. I've called Princess a few times and they have confirmed that I have the casual dining, but how do I know for sure? And also, what restaurants, besides Alfredos, would be considered casual on the new Sun. I think I might be so busy with my excursions and checking out the ship to honestly be really interested in dining, but I will use them. (if I have them) .

  12. The second one already has a "wait list". That time difference is a big deal...I'm guessin that's why it's sold out.
  13. I'm very sorry to hear about your plight. Yes, it sounds the same. I'm taking the advice of another and just heading up to the airport, I'll drop off my luggage at the hotel, and take a train into the city for a short visit and dinner.
  14. Sometimes when looking at excursions, I'll find two that are very similar but one says Discovery Family and the other doesn't. The Discovery Famiily costs about $10 more. For instance, in Genoa, there is a Discovery Family Portofino, Santa Margherita & Rapallo, and a very similar one that isn't Discovery Family and the only real difference is the sequence of what towns you visit first. Is there a big difference....not just here in Italy but all over where Princess sails.? The non-discovery was already sold out (YIKES!!!), so I paid for the Discovery Family one.
  15. I think most of it is drive-by from the description. We actually stayed in Rome for three nights a few years back. I think I'll take the advice above about taking the train into the city.
  16. Will be debarking our Barcelona to Italy cruise in Rome. We aren't flying out till the next day, and I have an airport hotel booked. I then booked a Princess transfer from the cruise port to the airport...and then will just walk over to my hotel. And then drop off my luggage and go into the city. Question: I was viewing a debarkation excursion that takes you to some sites in Italy (the Vatican, etc.) and it is a total of six hours. It says it leaves at 6:30am and arrives at the airport at 12:30. It would cost me about a $100 more to do this vs. my simple transfer. Does this REALLY leave the cruise port at 6:30am? Can that be possible? I guess I'm hoping that people who have done this will say something like, oh...it doesn't really leave until about 7:30 or even 8:00. I guess its' just wishful thinking but maybe I might be right????
  17. Thanks all. Im looking at a few quick Bahama trips in February or March. 3 or 4 nights. Not a big drinker, but I do like my wine with dinner, etc. I have no idea how much gratuities would be, nor wifi. It's a bit frustrating to not know until you book.
  18. So, how would I find out how much "extra" it will cost? I can easily find that out on Princess.....
  19. Geesh, booking a Princess cruise is sooooo easy. You can find your room, upgrade your package, know what the package includes and WAA-LAA you are on your way. Thinking about doing a tiny short Bahama cruise next spring on Allure of the Seas. For the life of me, I can't figure out what is actually included. I'm on their own website and I've picked out my balcony room, it gives me the price and then it wants all of my information. Now, I don't really want to book now, I'm just window shopping. But I can't figure out if gratuities are included, or drinks or dining or what. I WANT INFORMATION (lol, don't mean to yell, I just want to know!!) Any help would be great. Thank you.
