  1. When I booked our April cruise, Capetown to Southampton, rang up 2hours after it opened, only PG left. Been looking to upgrade, but no QG released, have now decided, PG rooms on QM2 look very nice, so giving it a go, and will give up looking to upgrade. Will be in QG in June again in QM2. So will have a back to back comparison. We may well decide we are very happy with PG, let's see.
  2. Looking at the menus posted it seems that the number of dishes has remained constant, but some dishes have migrated to the order by lunchtime section. No real hardship as we always look at menu after breakfast before we leave. If it saves waste no problem
  3. This makes absolute sense , when we went mid May "only" 1 million cases per week of covid in UK, we had private transfers. Now at 3.5 million cases, having shared transfers would be asking for trouble.
  4. Thank you. We weren't asked to test at home in May before our journey. Our driver was late because he was a last minute change and had to go to office to be tested. Given Kenmore's sensible advice passengers wouldn't self test at home. So are in danger from other passengers. Logical thing if using shared cars is like other cruise lines Saga asks passengers take a video supervised test at home ( £20 ) the night before. Show certificate to driver. Still test at port, but this will reduce risk of sharing with a positive passenger
  5. So why aren't Saga asking people to test themselves in morning before getting in car. Are Saga still discouraging /banning Public transport. Given high prevalence of covid I'd drive myself now
  6. Would Saga still stop you boarding if other party in shared car tested positive
  7. It is very much a personal opinion that Cunard's published dress code is a absolute minimum requirement. Absolute minimum makes it sound as even if you follow the Cunard dress code to the letter you are not really trying. If someone follows the Cunard dress code to the letter, then they are more than perfectly acceptably attired, and are not just scraping through. If people want to follow their own dress code so be it , but they should not try to make it sound on this forum as if people who follow Cunard dress code they are in anyway underdressed. This may have the effect of putting off potential customers who are happy with Cunard' s dress code into thinking they will be looked down upon.
  8. Cunard's dress code on website, is clear, for both smart attire (5 days a week) and gala nights. Just follow Cunard' s advice I wouldn't wear DJ/Tux on smart attire nights , what makes gala nights special is everyone's wearing it. Of course if you want to be in a minority and wear a Tux on smart attire nights nothing is stopping you.
  9. Meow Some people have different requirements , beer battered fish and chips may be to die for, but too much for us at lunchtime.
  10. Perhaps it's an indication of how many QG, PG,and Diamond ahead of you
  11. I actually like Cunards bad/expensive internet. I means we don't use it . As has been said it's just like old days, go on a cruise and leave world behind.
  12. Just back from 32 days on Saga's brand new ship. No problem with internet at all. Given it was free for everyone, would have been used much more than Cunard's expensive or limited free time internet. Must be difficult to add internet to older ship, let's see if Queen Anne has no problems .
  13. The descriptions of the service on this cruise seems mixed , where it should be very good, something amiss. However embarkation is universally acknowledged to be a nightmare. 4 hours in a queue is completely unacceptable. Yes Covid has caused problems, but we are still expected to pay "full wack"
  14. All this is why a big grills deck is important. I don't care about the occasional non grills passenger. Certainly don't want to , or think it's my role to play spot the interloper, 99.9% chance I'd get it wrong anyway. It will be interesting to see if Cunard has moved to contactless key cards for QA. If so electronic entrance to grills deck would be unobtrusive. We are booked on QM in April for return from Capetown and a Mediterranean in June. My one worry about QM is the small grills deck. The one draw back of QM being designed as a transatlantic liner not a cruise ship. It's OK on the Capetown run, as a starboard cabin gives us sun every morning on balcony, which is enough for us. However on Mediterranean may be different, and grills deck too small. I wanted Q.V., but it's heading north so that was vetoed.
  15. Send them an email now, with your instructions, presumably to move cruise. This will arrive today , thus beating deadline.
  16. Thanks bluemarble , that was my interpretation, but I was worried in that , it was a over generously sized grills deck. No plans at moment for QA , but the size of grills deck is a positive.
  17. Just looking at brochure. I can see where the QA grills terrace starts , but does it contnue aft past the hot tubs on the side of the ship , all the way to where deck narrows. If so like QE, QV it's a reasonable size , unlike QM
  18. Just for completeness here is brochure that arrived yesterday
  19. The printed Brochure is exactly the same EXCEPT : The sentence "You can amend these charges anyway you like by contacting the Pursers office " . Is completely ABSENT. Amending these charges is NOT mentioned in the brochure
  20. It's the fact that they now seem to be non removable that is the change in T&Cs that is important. Hence should be part of the fare.
  21. I have just been belatedly reading new brochures. I see Gratuities have been renamed Hotel charges, and there is no mention of being able to cancel them. In one way this is completely irrelevant as I never have or neverbwould contemplate cancellation of auto tips. However this is a change in terms and conditions since I booked. Secondly I thought under British consumer law , all compulsory charges must be shown up front at time of booking and included in the quote for total fare. Are Cunard breaking law? Or just hiding fact that they are removable. I say again I never have and never would remove them . I just don't like idea of any company playing fast and loose with T&Cs. Clearly if these charged are compulsory just include them in fare. Please don't make this into a debate about gratuities, my debate is about changes in T&Cs after you have booked and is Cunard breaking UK consumer law by not including compulsory charges in the fare at time of booking.
  22. It's Cunard that set dress code, just follow the spirit of the code . Which simply says "wear what you are comfortable with". Which obviously will depend very heavily on weather. T shirt and shorts if you like in 30 degrees or a suit and tie , it's your choice and no one else's. Multiple layers if below freezing (or T shirt if you want of course ) As Victoria2 said, just take no notice of those who want to impose their personal ( mainly 1950s) standards on others. They do a disservice to Cunard.
  23. No one gives a damm, to busy trying to get to cabin, drop hand luggage and get a bite to eat. Cunard makes it very clear wear what you are comfortable with. Only a few diehards moan on CC not in real life
  24. No all stayed on board , 10 cases over 4 weeks , a very low level
