  1. Sad for everyone, but never seen reason for people loving maiden voyage. High risk. Perhaps it gives you insight to Her Majesty who used to say , " the world smells of wet paint". Glad we're not booked till June 2024 when hopefully everything will be hunkydory, and all restaurants open , all staff fully trained.
  2. I would expect furniture on Arvia to be identical or extremely close to what you get on Iona
  3. Like late show as you can get seats. It's too much of a rush to get early show , and if you arrive at last minute often full. Don't find it to late , 10 pm show over by 10.45 , in cabin well before 11 pm , just don't succumb to nightcap temptation.
  4. I think it all depends on how flexible you are , and how many cabins of the type you want are on the ship. With 1334 standard balcony cabins on Iona and Arvia, then odds favour flexible last minute buyers. Similarly with 777 standard interior cabins. If you want something else or are looking at smaller ship, perhaps early is best
  5. Our June 2024 suite on Arvia med cruise is £1000 dearer than at launch, and that's for a forward cabin , which we wouldn't have. All rear like ours gone, so for some cabins it's launch or nothing.
  6. Unfortunately Arcadia not going back to UK via Capetown on world cruise. Wait to see anyone else .
  7. Should say Food and service looks as good as pre covid.. oops
  8. Thanks for review. Food and service looks avoid as per pre covid , wellcome information. As to trips, we always go independently, Cunard are not alone, in being economical with the information about what you can do independently. But the opposite of economical with excursion costs. Thankfully plenty of time to Google everything.
  9. There was no incentive offered when black sea was cancelled
  10. Thanks for warning , luckily credit card is registered /stored with airline.
  11. Thanks , I will have to book air tickets whilst on board
  12. Now if every passenger ticked yes what fun. Do you know a good hacker
  13. Thank you don't know how I missed it. I note he studiously avoided questions and answers about pre cruise :- covid , covid symptoms or covid contacts.
  14. I presume P&O are covering backside so they can say no one boards who has any covid symptoms. They expected everyone just to say NO to every question. I bet they are surprised that anyone ticks yes.
  15. How do you find Q&A with Adam Edinburgh on P&O web site
  16. Where do you get best signal on QM2
  17. A clock , watch , phone displaying time is nonsense, you can set it to any time. They should either revert to supervised tests , e.g. video , or give up. The testing regime has so many holes, coupled with the fact that insurance companies will not take unsupervised test as proof so won't pay up, and you can't get a supervised PCR which insurance companies require if you admit to a positive LFT. This simply encourages people to not test and lie. If a precruise test is important the £20 for a supervised test is nothing and Cunard should go back to mandatory tests day before.
  18. Once again Respose to P&O is covered by the song. Silence is golden. Covid has so many symptoms that could be any other mild disease, say no to every thing.
  19. think there was a song that describes best approach by any cruiser regarding covid contacts , symptoms....... Silence is golden
  20. HH your rant is 110% justified. 4 negative tests you must be much safer than the many people wandering round ship ignoring slight sniffle or sore throat. Glad you can go ashore and have some sort of normal time. Sad it's on your own. Must praise Mr HH's honesty in going forward for a test given only mild symptoms. However to be honest given what I've read of what happens , I'm not sure I'd get tested and ruin my holiday. Just take sensible precautions as for a cold to avoid others .
  21. On a ship 95% of time indoors is spent sitting down at meals , coffee , bar etc , when you don't have to mask up. Masking up for rest is worse than pointless as it gives a false sense of security
  22. Agree , clearly unless you are very ill , they want and expect you to ignore it. You will most probably lose money or miss half holiday otherwise.
  23. As a comparison Saga has nearly 20% single (all with balconies) cabins which are 80% of the size of their standard 2 person balcony cabins, for a 55% supplement. I understand they sell out first. Showing demand for singles. So there is a market if Cunard want it.
