  1. True! @harryfat1 deserves all the credit for getting me interested in those shots . He is “The Man.” Love that safe. Works great doesn’t it? @harryfat1 is da man!!!! I don’t know what they do but the Filet in Giovanni’s is the best on any. I will say my Fiket at the Chef’s Table last night was outstanding. Love the pics and glad you are having a great time. Today we will be with Stingrays.
  2. What’s in a Woo Woo? Linda had one of your Cape Cods last night. She really liked it.
  3. Visit a specialty restaurant and make all your reservations then. It’s faster and more efficient.
  4. Thanks CC for ruining my #%*! post by not letting me edit in time. to Continue: 3) Main Lobster Salad with a Peter Yealands Sauvignon Blanc 4) Roasted Branzino (Mediterranean Sea Bass) with a Mer Soleil from Monterey County California 5) Filet Mignon with a Oberon Cabernet Sauvignon 6) Salted Caramel Espresso Martini 7) The World (best chocolate dessert in the world IMHO) An incredible dinner and what does that have to do with Neil Diamond? Well apparently not once but twice (early and late seating’s in the MDR) the staff was introduced and starting dancing around and the “Sweet Caroline” began playing and you know what happens. Normally I don’t mind but when it’s during the sommelier or Head Chef trying to explain the course it was annoying. Does anybody know how Sweet Caroline ended up being a people’s anthem. I remember when the song came out but never thought or imagined that everyone in the world would want to sing along. After the world some celebratory cheesecake was served to several who had birthdays and finally to Linda and I who celebrated 25 years of marriage today. I couldn’t think of a better dinner to share with the love of my life, my best friend and mother of my only child. Cheers to you love. Thank you for 25 incredible years. Let’s keep this party going and what better party than one at sea. October 18, 1997 October 18, 2022
  5. The Chef’s Table , an incredible experience and then there was Neil Diamond. We’ve done the Chef’s Table 4 times. Yes the menu hasn’t changed but each Chef brings their own experience to it. The Chef’s Table on Liberty is as others on the second floor balcony in the MDR on Deck 3. It’s a special alcove but it is still open to the noise and bustling of the main dining room. Our invitation told us to meet at the “R” Bar for a specialty cocktail , a form of Champagne Bellini. We were then led to our seats where we introduced ourselves and made small talk. What I love about the Chef’s Table is meeting different people. Now I don’t remember names but Linda and I had wonderful conversations with a professional artist who does watercolors and child book illustrations, a newly married gay couple on their first cruise, a young girl recently returned from deployment in the military over seas, a Doctorate in Phycology who does behavior analysis at a federal penitentiary . The conversation was interesting and as the evening wore on became very fun and lively. Of course because of my hearing loss I missed the name of the sommelier but I learned he was a level 3 trained in France. He knew his stuff. He was funny, animated and very knowledgeable. Chef Samuel presented the courses after the sommelier explained the wine pairing. The courses 1) Scallop Carpaccio with a Pinot Grigio 2) Smoked Tomato Soup (one of the best soups I’ve ever had) with a Conundrum from Fairfield, California. 6. I’ll admit I was nervous as I’m not normally around the Country scene. I will say that everyone was been extremely polite, cordial and respectful. Really good people. My fault for compartmentalization of people. The old saying never judge a book by its cover is oh so true. I’ve really enjoyed these folks.
  7. One thing disappointing is that the new iPhone does not do 48mp in Portrait mode. But I was able to get this depth of field using the wide lens at 48mp. I am pleased with the results.
  8. FYI for future Liberty cruisers. The big screen in the pool area is broken. it will not be fixed until Liberty goes into dry dock. So movies and such are being shown in On Air on Deck 3.
  9. Im the same way too. Except on a cruise where I will have an espresso after dinner with a dessert to help me out of a food coma. I’ve also gotten to like espresso martini’s. I still can’t drink coffee in the morning. I want a cold Diet Coke.
  10. Photos are fantastic. When I get home I want re read your whole trip and make notes. I want to go to some of these places.
  11. @John&LaLa This Cape Cod is for you! Cheers I hope you are having a blast. I need to check in and see how the list is coming along.
  12. Another example of new iPhone 14 Pro Max shooting 48 megapixels. Our sister ship Serenade in port with us. Wide. Then original wide photo zoomed and cropped. And zoomed and cropped again more from the original Wide. I’m very happy with this.
  13. Thank you we will celebrate tonight at the Chef’s Table. More to come. Cheers!
  14. Here is an example of my new iPhone 14 Max Pro with 48mp camera. Now these pics are converted since CC will not accept Apple Pro Raw format Wide shot and here is the zoomed in crop version. I think the detail and colors look fantastic. I need @twangster opinion because he is the real pro.
  15. Dia De Los Muertos Celebration So for our excursion today we decided to do something different. The Dia De Los Muertos Celebration celebrates Day of the Dead on November 1st and November 2nd. We always do beach days but we wanted to learn some culture. Now keep in mind we booked this long before our cruise. First the obligatory tourist setting shot. Now remember me telling you about our adopted friend we met before entering the terminal on Day 1? Elaine had lost her husband 6 months ago. This was supposed to be their first ever cruise together. After he died she wanted to cancel but her daughter urged her to go as a solo. She had been depressed after losing her husband she dearly loved. But her daughter convinced her to go. Now had I not broken my collarbone I would have stood in line but a Royal CSR told me to go sit down on a bunch in front. I did and happened to sit next Elaine. It was fate. She told me the story and was nervous about her first ever cruise. I answered a lot of questions and told her she could count us to help her have a great time. As I said to her, “Your husband would want you to be happy and the best way to honor him is to celebrate his life.” It was fate that Linda and I were meant to look after her. Fate again, Elaine and Linda and I happen to be booked on the same excursion a celebration of the dead. Angel (great name) explained the holiday to us. It was a way to honor loved ones who have passed. First by building an alter and then having a feast. Our excursion was at the Mayan Cacao Company, where we ate local dishes, including fresh tortillas with chocolate sauce. Then we engaged in Dia De Los Muertos rituals including an altar-decorating contest. Elaine honored her husband. Linda honored her Mother Joyce who actually died on our anniversary which is today. I honored one of my best friends and longtime coworkers Maria and Tim who lost their son at a very early age. Maria was one of our long time anchor/reporters and is Cuban. Her husband was a photographer like me. The anniversary of his death is tomorrow so I will send this to them as a tribute. For the last 25 years, each year of Tyler’s death I tell them I am thinking of them and that I love them. This will be a special tomorrow. Our special alter. A spread of delicious snacks were served and sampled flavored Mexican chocolate, sweet bread, masa-wrapped tamales, fried codzitos and more regional bites. I even had a Chocolate Daiquiri. Tasted like a good chocolate milkshake. Again everything happens for a reason. Elaine and Linda and I were meant to be together. We laughed, we cried and we hugged each other. Sometimes a personal connection is better than a beach day. It’s the warm embrace of a stranger that can leave a more lasting memory. Cheers to the ones we loved and lost. This day was for you!
  16. No on demand movies in the stateroom but they do show movies down on Deck 3 in On Air. Like they are showing. Thor, Ghostbusters, Elvis and some others.
  17. Must have been the blue corn. It was a taste I’d never tasted before. Not a fan. Alternating Tylenol and Advil. ER doc asked if I wanted pain meds and I said no. I did not want to feel drugged. As long as I don’t move my arm around too much I’m ok. Just have to live with it for now. I have been very pleasantly surprised how good the food is. I have not had a bad meal in the MDR yet. Yeah with 3 of us doing lives it’s hard to keep up. I’m trying to at least check in on the other threads but it’s hard with all of our activities and posting on mine. I’ll re read everything when I get back.
  18. I don’t think my phone has that. That is a cool feature . I’d love for you to do the flow rider. I wish I could learn but I don’t need to break the other collarbone. Have a great day. Cheers!!!!
  19. Good morning from Cozumel and breakfast in the WJ. 7am and already getting crowded.
  20. Yeah if you see it don’t buy it. Bad after taste. Are you home now? I need to catch up.
  21. Wow that is cool . Is that you? If so I’m really impressed. I couldn’t do that.
