  1. In my experience, Cruisemapper does not update when there is a last minute change in ports.
  2. Anything that generates heat or is a fire hazard (which would include a steamer) is prohibited. The only exception is curling irons and hair dryers.
  3. Since the pandemic, we have averaged 1 Celebrity cruise a year (through 2025 so far). That is mixed with cruises from other cruise lines. We usually do about 3-4 cruises a year. This is an increase for us because we just hit a good spot (financially and vacation time) to start traveling more around the time the pandemic hit. Pre-pandemic, we cruised once a year on a variety of brands. Only 2 of the 5 years before the pandemic did we have a Celebrity cruise.
  4. Risky for what? Risk of your cruise getting cancelled? Although that risk is never zero, it is an incredibly small risk (outside of the Middle East). It is rare to have a cruise cancelled after final payment. And if that were to happen, they would fully refund your money. Risk of getting COVID? That is a risk you take every time you enter a space crowded by other people (restaurants, airplanes, theaters, cruise ships, etc.). Whether that is a risk you are willing to take really is only a decision you can make. Your doctor would be a better person to give you advice on that. Risk of getting caught in a war? Although again that risk is never zero (just as that risk is never zero in your own home town), Australia and New Zealand are a pretty safe part of the world to travel. I personally have cruised many times since the pandemic and thus have made many final payments. Our next cruise sails in 3 weeks.
  5. I remember awhile back, too much OBC was credited based on the deal at the time of reservation and when Celebrity clawed back some of that OBC, people received e-mails like you mention. (It could also happen if you re-priced your cruise with a deal that had less OBC which is why someone else asked that question.) I would review your original invoice and log into the cruise planner to see what it shows for OBC and your orders and then call.
  6. We do Go Green on every cruise and really don’t notice a difference. They will still replace towels on the floor. You still get turn down service. I understand they just might not vacuum twice a day or do a full cleaning twice a day but neither of those things will be noticeable unless you really make a mess of your room repeatedly.
  7. Assuming this booking was made after the last change deposit policy (which I think happened early last Spring), non-refundable now actually means non-refundable. There are no refunds. They are not issuing FCC anymore. There may be ways to move your booking to a new date (for the $100 fee per person) but if you outright cancel with a non-refundable deposit, you lose your entire deposit.
  8. Look at your invoice. It will have a cancellation schedule on it that is applicable to your cruise. Depending on what country you are from and what you chose at the time of booking, your deposit may or may not be refundable. Air all depends on the agreement for the flights you picked so I would refer to any paperwork you have from when you booked those flights.
  9. Yes, and it doesn't look like either have a 6 month rule even for those traveling on a US passport (Honduras is 3 months and Belize just requires it to be valid according to the US Dept of State). That said, as this thread has been a good reminder of, always pay attention to your cruise docs to make sure Celebrity doesn't impose other document requirements.
  10. Yes, I wasn't trying to imply they are openly ignoring a requirement. My point was more that it wouldn't take much to remove that cruise ship exemption.
  11. No, not every country has the 6 month rule and all the itineraries I looked at for the Apex in January fall under the closed loop cruise rule. If you are really concerned, just take a certified copy of your birth certificate along as a backup but I highly doubt you will need it.
  12. This list (along with the others that other commenters have added) could change without a lot of notice. I understand many of the Central American countries (like Belize, Costa Rica, etc.) have a passport requirement on the books but have openly chosen to ignore it. The closed-loop rule was only intended to cover the Caribbean (and Canada), not Central and South America.
  13. My suggestion is to talk to your waiter and/or the head waiter on the ship. They can get her the vegan menu and if she still isn't finding enough to eat that she likes, they can even do a special order for her with advanced notice. Even with some of the glitches this year (like mis-markings on the menu - don't trust the symbols), I have still been impressed with how Celebrity handles dietary restrictions as long as you communicate with the staff.
  14. My husband doesn't drink at all. The only time we ever get a drink packages is if there is a good deal on an always included rate. With Celebrity's current AI structure, it doesn't make sense for us. I pay a la carte for the drinks I want and because I enjoy wine, I generally buy wine by the bottle instead of by the glass (it's cheaper by the bottle). (If you don't finish the bottle, they will hold the bottle for you in the dining room for the next night or you can take it back to enjoy on your balcony or in a lounge later.)
  15. It only has a gap between cruises of about 16 days in April 2024. There is a cruise critic article talking about upcoming dry docks and this is what it says about the Constellation in spring of 2024: "This drydock for the Constellation will include all new carpeting as well as updated crew quarters. Suites are scheduled to get new Jacuzzis and some galley equipment will be replaced." I don't think this is going to be more than a refresh.
  16. I suspect that people who prefer a dry martini already know that and never hesitate to order it at any bar regardless of whether it is on the menu. The menus are more for the people who don't know what they want.
  17. I did the flight on the Eclipse in May and it was more alcohol than I was expecting! Afterwards, the bartender was ready to make me a full one of whichever I liked best, something I definitely wasn't ready for especially on an empty stomach (it was mid-late afternoon before dinner)! 🤣
  18. The app is your best spot (you don't need to even have a reservation to browse ships and sailing on the app). The menus are different on Edge Class ships vs. M and S class ships. They will gladly make you a gin dry martini if you ask.
  19. We did a 14 day cruise on the Summit round-trip out of New Jersey with an overnight in Quebec City in 2015 (one of Captain Kate's earliest cruises in charge) and that was one of my favorite itineraries. The overnight in Quebec City gave us a chance to just wander one day without worrying about being back on time and then we chose an excursion that took us to a winery the second day. It's also really neat to cruise down the St. Lawrence River and the scenery is really pretty. We also lucked out and were there during peak fall colors. We just booked a one-way itinerary that hits most of those same ports on a different cruise line for 2025 that I'm really looking forward it. I have cruised the Eclipse as recently as May of this year (Honolulu to Hawaii) and enjoyed the ship. I'm sure it would be a great ship to take to Canada/New England. Do you have any specific questions? In case you want a lot of details, I did blog both those trips (link to my personal blog in my signature). The tag "Celebrity Summit" will get you to the Canada/New England cruise I did. The most recent posts under the tag "Celebrity Eclipse" will get you to my recent Eclipse cruise.
  20. If you move up to a lower level suite (which includes Aqua Sky Suites, Sky Suites, Celebrity Suites), you keep whatever perks you have right now. So for example, if you have the AI package with the lower tier beverage or wifi package, that is the package you will keep if you successfully move up. Room service will be available to you as that comes with the room not AI perks. Only the upper suites include wifi and beverage package in the actual room type.
  21. If you are referring to the revolution, no. That is still on hold and may never restart, at least in the form it was pre-pandemic. I wouldn't count on more than a maintenance dry dock and maybe a bit of a refresh in 2024.
  22. It's just a name to reduce a bit of the cleaning products used and vacuuming done in exchange for extra captain's club points. I don't think anyone is fooling themselves into thinking it suddenly makes their cruise green. And although cruise lines do have a lot of initiates that have a bigger impact (related to fuel choices with new ships, waste water treatment, recycling, switching electronic as much as customers will tolerate, etc.), I don't think travel internationally will ever truly be green.
  23. I do NOT suggest depending on the cruise line. What is true for US citizens often is not true for citizens of other countries and the cruise lines representatives do not keep up on the information for citizens of every country traveling to every port. And because of how cruise ship manifests are shared with the various port authorities, boarding a cruise ship without the appropriate visas (if the embarkation port doesn't catch the issue and deny boarding) could cause problems. I agree she should contact the appropriate embassies about visa requirements.
  24. I have always booked shore excursions through the website and the price still shows on the main page on the website (no need to put into the cart just to see the price).
