I'm sure you are not dense. What you say makes a lot of sense.

The issue for me is...if there is a dress code..whatever it may be...why isn't it STRICTLY enforced, across the fleet?

Because Princess is not running the DMV.

They are trying to create a pleasant experience, that perhaps customers will want to do again.

Hardly anyone leaves the DMV, dreaming of when they can return.

Ah...crap are the outlets European and not UK? Grabbed the wrong travel adapter for an extra plug then.

I have used this adapter on various princess ships.

One thing to keep in mind -- it will let you plug US style 2 prong plugs into it.

So, devices that maybe expecting 110VAC will receive 220VAC

...so make sure your device can handle the voltage.

I always enjoy using these the most after reading a few replies on cruise critic

that there are no oulets by the bed, and you should bring an extension cord

    to reach the desk.

The chat feature on the app was poorly designed. It doesn’t give any notification when a chat is received, so you have to go into the app and look for messages.  The messages don’t have a time/date stamp, so there is no way of knowing if the message is two minutes, two hours or two days old.

There are posters here who claim this is intentional.

This was a (mis) feature of the original princess messenger.

I thought others had posted that the new, medallion version did give notifications...

Princess says they will be giving you alerts to enhance your cruise experience.

If the alerts are silent, I don't think my cruise experience will be all that enhanced.

Perfect!  Just wanted to know ahead of time.  Khakis are packed, so he will be all set!

Post #5 is from original poster ... bringing khakis.

You would think ... problem solved, nothing to see here.

But,  another 50 replies, covering each pet peeve on dress code, how people dress, etc.

I just booked the ship that is quarantined. Princess is doing everything humanly possible to keep their passengers safe.

Why?   Even the biggest princess lover would have to think future itineraries will change...

If I had a cruise booked now, I would cancel.

Closer to sailing time I can make a decision if I want to go, without any financial penalty.

Cruise prices are almost certain to drop over the next few months.

If I wait, very high probabilty that I will pay less later.

P.S. This has nothing to do with the safety of any future cruise,

only to do with public sentiment / hysteria.

It was a few day ago. Do not really remember. Only one post.

There were several follow-up posts like "it happened to me, and I had to go to the purser's desk to fix"

It is against the rules to comment on a thread that has disappeared.

There isn't a 3,600 bed hospital in japan or anywhere in the world. It would literally overwhelm the entire hospital system.

For reference, a medium sized hospital is anywhere from 300-450 beds.

West China Medical Center -- 4300 beds.

Wow.  There were a bunch of follow up posts from people who had the cash out to wrong medallion problem with the slot machines.

I can no longer find the thread with folks mis-adventures using the medallion in slot machines.

There were two issues raised -- starting with cash, and cashing out -- the cash out went to any nearby medallion.

Playing and cashing out, and not receiving the money on your account -- people speculated that when you

sat down, you continued playing with the previous user's medallion account.

There were then 4-5 follow-ups by people who had the same problem, and that had to go to the purser's desk, etc.

    to get it straightened out.

I think it's off that I can't find a thread from the past week or so, but the rules do no allow me to

    speculate about such things.

Guess we can no scenarios all day. As for the slot. Wen I played. I would scan the medallion for the first time and enter my pin. It would then indicate it was me every time I played. So I cannot see that happening either. No different than on any other ship when sticking in you room key card.

Wow.  There were a bunch of follow up posts from people who had the cash out to wrong medallion problem with the slot machines.

That you didn't certainly doesn't mean that the system is perfect.

  10. 2 hours ago, twodaywonder said:

That is all well and good. Buy you are assuming it does not work correctly. Let's say it does not. The person scanning will not just  let them pass will they? I doubt it.

Who knows.  A scenario -- a cruiser is sailing from the same port on the same date, but on a different ship...

Someone scans medallion, and info show up.

    Cruiser continues onboard.

No one currently know if the above is possible, or not.

When princess was using the a-pass kiosk system, they would often have a towel over

the display, as passengers complained about other people seeing their photo.

So, whether you boarded depended entirely on the sound the a-pass system made.

    I personally caused quite a bru-ha-ha when re-boarding with the a-pass system...

I had several cruise cards in my pocket, and I accidently used one from a cruise on

the same ship, about a month earlier.

The system happily let me board.

I was friends with the computer officer on board, and unfortunately, this caused

him some grief, as he should have purged the old data...

I felt badly, as I liked the guy.

And, who would ever imagine that a slot machine would cash out to the wrong medallion?

Certainly no one would ever anticipate that customers would be delighted by this.

Of course, one way to help prevent this would be to only accept cash into a machine if a medallion session was active.

Did thousands of additional people get infected on land when handling all their land based cases?
You think the bus driver receive french kiss from the passengers in lieu of fare?  Even so, this is hyperbole at best.  Thousands?  Lol.

Why are you wasting your time on cruisecritic telling the gentle readers this?

I pretty sure no reader here can change anything with regard to the current situation.

You need to communicate your comments directly to princess executives, the japanese government and the chinese government.

I apologize in advance if your posts are in jest, and you are simply trying to lighten the mood here.

The only way is they some how some way they just walked past everyone and headed for the ship. That I cannot see either. If they had the medallion, no way. They block the entrance and you can only go to one of the people scanning the medallion before you are allowed to continue to the ship. Once scanned. Your info and picture pop up. Then you start your trek to the ship. Before you get to the ship. Your medallion is scanned once again. It then shows everyone in your room. Then and only then can you continue to the ship.

You are completely assuming that everything with the medallion works properly, with no basis to do so.

If we had some empirical data from actual folks who tried to board the wrong ship, and were turned back by the

    medallion, I might believe you.

But, as it is, you just keep repeating "this is the way it should work", therefore "this is the way it works"

You may have forgotten that the ocean implementers ran into tremendous difficulty when they tried to move

from a warehouse in doral to a ship ... apparently forgetting that ships are metal.

I just read here in the past week or so, how one needs to be careful using a medallion with a slot machine,

or when you cash out, the money may get posted to someone else's medallion.

Who would expect that?    It would be perfectly reasonable to expect that YOUR money goes to YOUR medallion...

Obviously a reasonable expectation isn't always implemented properly the first time...

The rest of them will get it in a week or so thanks to people who think they are "experts" at virology and ventilation.  Good grief.  If I were those people, I would demand to get off the ship and they can quarantine me on land.

Thank goodness that Princess executives, the japanese ministry of health, WHO, CDC, etc. don't have to rely on those pesky experts,

and can simply turn to cruise critic for advice.

Maybe some of the confusion is that Regal sails mostly from TERMINAL 2 not Pier 2 in Port Everglades.  Pier 2 is a different location from Terminal 2.  We are on Regal now and when we sailed out last Sunday, Caribbean Princess was docked at Pier 2 and Regal was docked at Terminal 2.  If you ask an Uber or Lyft to take you to Pier 2 when your ship is leaving from Terminal 2, there's a good chance your luggage will be going on a separate cruise...:classic_huh:  Ultimately, it is the passenger's responsibility to know where to board their ship.

Honestly, I can't believe Princess continues to churn out more ships with the same soot problem.  Just came back from the Mexican Riviera on the Royal.  Aft penthouse, unusable balcony.  We won't be booking one again, we'll have to suffer with a smaller balcony that can actually be used!  Terrible, terrible, terrible.

I think you will have to wait for the LNG ships...
