    Yikes, what about their luggage?

I remember sailing on grand from Ft. Lauderdale shortly after it entered service.

Luggage that coulnd't be delivered ... lost tag, or whatever ... what lined up near the purser's desk.

In the lineup was a bag for a holland american ship.

Anyone successfully installed the Medallion app on a Galaxy S8+ ?  It downloads from the PlayStore and then just says 'Cant install MedallionClass' with no clues as to why not.

After reading this, I tested the app on a Galaxy S8+ for you...

It worked fine.  No problem for me.

But, I did see on Google Play that the app was updated on 03-February, and this is a comment:

    "WHAT'S NEW

Fixed an issue where some guests could not install the latest update."

As best as I know, on coral, the balconies which don't connect are at the "bump-out"s,

which if you look at the deck plan seems intuitive.

Also, for the fire-door folks, have a look at the picture in this post:

We are booking on the Coral Princess to Antarctica.  We have adjoining cabins with my daughter and her family.  Has anyone been able to have the exterior  door between the connecting balconies locked open for their cruise to make one large balcony?  Has anyone asked to have it locked open and been refused.  Does the cabin steward have the key, if not who did you ask?   Thanks in advance !

You have received many of the usual fire door comments...

I believe the fire door comments were true for sun class ships.

Every time this subject comes up, posters post examples of cabins they were in that violated this this fictional rule.

A search on cruise critic will show enough exceptions to realize that there is no such rule.

Balconies which cannot connect are marked as below.

If the cabin you are considering is not so annotated, I suggest you simply ask your cabin steward once on board.

All references indicate that Princess "owns" Princess Cays.

    What is all?

You can if you wish, expand 'All' to include Carnival Corporation publications...

"Princess Cruises – Princess, whose brand name was made famous by the Love Boat
television show, recently celebrated its 43rd anniversary. Princess, the world’s third
largest cruise line, operates a fleet of 17 modern ships. Princess is a leading cruise line
in international and exotic regions all over the world, including Alaska, Asia, Europe, the
South Pacific, including Australia, and South America. Some of Princess’s Caribbean
cruise offerings feature a private island destination, known as Princess Cays, which
Princess leases and operates, that is located on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas."

Just curious if there has ever been or is currently live music in any of the dining venues on Princess ships?

On the old Crown Princess, there was a single main dining room.

(The galley was one deck down, with escalators)

I remember a string trio playing in the dining room when I first went on the ship,

but on later cruises, they were gone.

I guess they were downsized with Pelican Pete...

P.S. According to one maitre d', the escalators were a major source of work-place injury.

Two weeks ago on the Royal I asked for Volcano and was informed it has been removed from the kids menu.

    Mercifully.  RIP Volcano.

Based on posts here, I tried the volcano once.

Huge bowl of ice cream of a quality that would be rejected by the gourmands at a five year old's birthday party.

I would certainly not eat it for flavor or enjoyment, I guess quantity is the appeal.

Simply buy this at your local walmart, and eat until nauseated.

Save the price of the cruise.

Book a cruise on the new MSC Grandiosa ship.
Currently onboard the MSC Grandiosa, amazing ship and tech onboard. The elevators are something I’ve not seen before, in each elevator lobby there is a touch screen with a pad on for calling your deck number, the system tells you what elevator to use and directs you to it.

On Princess, I would expect a queue of 20 people at each touch screen.  The crowds at the end of the muster drill would take

    several days to dissipate...

Any way, packets of powder are light, take up very little room, and no problem to mix.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

OK so I am fairly tech savy but apparently not enough I have an android phone. If I have a wifi package while on board for our Alaskan cruise can I text our daughter at home and can I get texts from her without gathering additional billing from either the cruise line our my  provider Verizon? What about phone calls? HELP!!

    Gr

Whatever method you decide to try ... you can test it at home (or any where there is wifi) before your cruise.

Put your phone in airplane mode.  Then turn on (only) wifi.

    Can anyone say TROLL?

    You, or the original poster?

The original poster came back and thanked people for their comments, and then made additional posts.

Doesn't seem like a troll to me.

There are so many cheerleaders here who can't stand the slightest negative comment about princess.

So, denigrate the poster by calling them a troll...

    Nice.

If there really was a bedbug problem that was widespread on the Emerald it would have been a hot topic here accompanied by outraged chest beating from the usual suspects whether they were on the Emerald or not.

Luckily the usual apologists show up, right on schedule.

I know of two crew member who had bed bugs in their cabins.

In the first case, they took absolutely everything out of her cabin ... "down to the bare metal".

...and eventually let her move back.  She was annoyed at having to basically live in the corridor.

In the other case, a new waiter came onboard, and brought the bed bugs with her.

It's an unfortunate situation for the business.

If it's something like kitchen cleanliness, it's very easy to assign blame.

But, if a company is doing everything right, and a guest brings bedbugs with them,

    who is wrong?

....when we leave there is always a long line waiting to get in and many have beepers....

So, after all your posts in this thread, the only way you are affected is that you have to see a line while leaving the dining room...

Maybe you can loan the other poster your shirt.

We have never heard ATD staff promoting reservations.....if anything it creates two different problems for them to deal with....we are usually always there when ATD opens

My observation:  when the anytime dining room opens, the 30-50 people waiting are seated as fast as they can be escorted to their tables.

Often there is a line of waiter/juniors who the head waiter directs where to escort the parties to specific tables...

The people waiting when the doors open are seated just as fast as possible.

As you are 'always there when ATD opens', how do people with reservations even affect you?
