  1. It's a busy airport, same reason there are delays on the 401, nobody wants to pay for enough capacity/infrastructure for there never to be delays.
  2. Can't see it making much of a difference, 6R/24L and 5/23 are able to more than handle the traffic at YYZ. Except in poor weather, field operations are seldom the cause of YYZ delays. Deicing, ground ops, etc sure, but not like there's a lack of runways.
  3. Star Sky x 2 Joy Bliss Epic (booked for Jan)
  4. Fair enough. I fly AC primarily and some United. I've never had much trouble with seats if checking in right at 24 hours, but you're right, many airlines are charging now even at 24 hours. AC allows you to move around the plane at check in.
  5. I appreciate and respect your desire for certainty in advance, however as someone who flies very frequently, I have never had a problem getting seats together when check in is done rigidly 24 hours in advance. Everyone is also different. I wouldn't care about not sitting together for a few hours (even transatlantic really normally at 7-8 hr flight depending on destination) but I know my partner or kids would think that is the worst lol. With opportunities to use the airline locator to select in advance in many cases, the fact that airlines often put ppl on the same locator together anyways, the ability to select for free at check in or pay at check in, it's unlikely two people wouldn't get seats together. If someone is trying to get/use upgrades or otherwise I understand. My biggest issue is that the free airfare isn't that cheap from my origin city so I've never used it. Every time I look, I could purchase 2 tickets for often the same price and not need to deal with all the issues that have been noted here so many times. Perhaps out of US cities it is cheaper, but from here in Canada it's quite expensive.
  6. When booking you have to add the air, without it you don't get a discount.
  7. I have before yes because I used to find they were not well cooked when they're busy.
  8. I think the reality is that they have arrangements negotiated with the airlines such that even at 2 for 1 it's probably a net zero for NCL, or at least when you add on the ground transportation of upwards of $100pp which is likely 75% profit in many places.
  9. At least in the picture they seem cooked. I've always found the original wings at The Local to be not cooked enough.
  10. Being JFK based you might get a direct flight, but don't be surprised if you are routed via Toronto/Montreal/Chicago/Atlanta/London/Paris/Amsterdam/Frankfurt/etc if NCL finds a flight to be $0.20 cheaper. That's the downside to NCL air and it's kind of like booking flights through a third party website in that if you run into trouble, you're calling and waiting for NCL instead of dealing with the airline directly.
  11. Try google flights, I see one ways to YHZ from FLL for $250pp on March 25th, but guessing you must want to get back the 18th which is more. If willing to drive there's $300 pp to Fredericton on the 18th. Good luck.
  12. I find the US has really cheap Aeroplan redemptions from Ottawa so have been booking all our travels on those. I second the google flights recommendation for searching. Skyscanner can also be good for searching.
  13. A spouse on the same reservation is able to board with you, the same as in this case the person in your cabin can go in the line with you. But if I'm with five co-workers, I either board with them in their zone or I leave them and board in mine. I don't try to take 5 extra non-status people with me.
  14. As a frequent flyer who earns my benefits by grinding out 80 flight segments a year, this drives me absolutely bonkers when people do it.
  15. The current sale is what I would call regular price. Of course there are certain sailings that are overpriced/underpriced in certain people's views, but the current 40% off sale is pretty much their regular price and the way NCL markets their product.
  16. Not sure where this misconception about NCL nickel and diming comes from. Perhaps it was this way at one point when Royal was more all inclusive, but IMO NCL is the most all inclusive of the mainstream lines right now. With meals, internet and drinks included in my fare, I'm able to sail for a week and only have the gratuities on my bill, that's great IMO.
  17. The greatest anxiety I have these days is the lead up to a trip not knowing if someone will get sick and the trip planned for months will go in the toilet. In past years rightfully or wrongfully if I got a cold or flu I'd likely still get on the plane and go. Perhaps society is getting better in ensuring that doesn't happen anymore, but it adds to anxiety when you have prepaid hotels, cruises, etc.
  18. Take what you can't live without in a carry on just in case. Anything can go wrong as I'm sure you already know. Good luck.
  19. I think the responses you've received here are almost unanimous. You've used a lot more of your time and life complaining about this and worried about it. Sometimes you just need to roll with the punches a little more. I think everyone gets it, it sucks when plans change. But you didn't really have any losses. I like the approach here in Canada, you can't sue for losses you can't really monetize. This compensate me for everything approach in US and others places for litigation sucks IMO.
  20. Sounds like you're nearing a decision, though I wouldn't compare the Dawn and the Joy at all, they're significantly different classes/sizes/ages. Comparing the Dawn and Joy would be like comparing the Oasis and Jewel. NCL certainly doesn't have the royal promenade model so if that's what you're looking for then it certainly doesn't have it as open over those decks.
  21. I'm not sure what you expected to happen. If there's a hurricane that's clearly out of their control. I understand the frustration of doing things like adding token ports where you can't do anything (your San Juan example). The excursion issue is not really something they can control, assuming you got a refund for the excursion you could have taken a taxi to a beach or something. The idea that you think Nassau is the best destination is brutal, I don't even want to get off the ship there anymore really other than go for a little walk. Any of the issues you experienced can and do happen with all lines.
  22. Perhaps a new class of ships to replace the Radiance class initially, but ultimately both classes in the longer term.
  23. Yes you can check everything through. I've done this YZF-YYC-DEN-FLL before with United.
  24. https://www.torontopearson.com/en/connections/guide?arrivingairline=aca&arrivingdestination=bos&departingairline=aca&departingdestination=yeg At terminal 1 from US to Canada connections you do not claim baggage.
  25. I'm sure others have far more experience than me, but if the ship docks at 8 you may be pushing it for a private tour at 9. If ship docks at 7 you should be fine. If it's one thing I've noticed NCL weren't great at on my last half full cruise it was efficiently opening the gangways upon arrivals, in fact it was a point of frustration for me. They blamed port authorities and otherwise, but I've been on enough cruises to know it isn't the norm.
