Bo- good question.  Exactly what is the Covid policy now?  My guess is that most guests will definitely not report if they have any type of cold symptoms.  Unless they are the unlucky few that get worse.

tr - I Am bringing quite a few test kits so when I hear that one of my friends do not feel well, bring it out and test...

Thus the reason for wanting to know about pro-ration of the fare so they will not worry about it..

    Thank you again... bon voyage

I regularly enjoy your posts. However, you’re missing the mark on this one.

I have no desire to read, decipher or debate what the contract says they are entitled to get away with once we have paid. It is always appreciated to have an alternate opinion shared here. But pointing out that our contracts essentially say that we are “sadly” out of luck, is anything but comforting.

The point is that many long time Celebrity loyalists book and pay in good faith expecting to receive what the website & advertising describes, and in all reality, what we have become accustomed to. It’s called expectations. And while Celebrity can apparently do whatever they want to those expectations, contract-wise, those same loyal customers are upset that Celebrity is not upholding their part of the bargain that we believe we are due. And they are doing so at the expense of said loyal passengers.

While I’d like to say I’ll be sharing a table with @zitsky, I likely won’t be anywhere near a Celebrity ship anytime soon.

bl2 - I understand your position and know the challenges we all face with the changes afoot, good, bad or indifferent.

Good faith is the key factor that many of us look to for on-going commitments to those companies we trust...

Once broken, all bets are off until things are done to really prove trust can be given again... a reason many of us move on to other companies, for sure.

    Thank you for your thoughts...

For some of us, this is about a company changing a contract after payment of a non refundable deposit or final payment.

z - actually we as the passenger have contracted X to take us from the point of embarkation to the point of dis-embarkation with no guarantee of accommodating us in the class for which we were told that was paid for.

X has retained thier legal right to change any part of the transportation without prior notice, yet we have the right to go to binding arbitration if there is an issue with what we perceive is not in conformity with X's CoC or gross mis-conduct or gross deviation from the CoC's.

We may find a sympathetic Arbiter to rule in our favour to a great degree or not.

Which, while very upsetting as posters point out here, not far afield from X's rights. I Am sure if some of us make a big deal out of it, then X, in its' wisdom or charity, can make changes on a case by case basis or across the board.

As for changing the contract, the contract has not changed only our expectation of what we believe, without reading the actual contract, we are due or want according to the advertizement and nothing more.

    Methinks it might be over!

I always enjoy your comments so just being nosey.

    Where you off to?

Reflection Barcelona to Civitavecchia embarking 2 Sept ...

13 of us on this sailing...

Not being nosey, inquiring minds want to know... LOL

    When is your next sailing???

    bon voyage

  6. Hello All - does anyone know or have experience with what X's current C-19 policy is if diagnosed while sailing?

Sadly,  I have not kept up with it and want to give my friends an idea of the protocol and any additional info I/you can share.

I do understand that things can change by the time we embark in three (3) weeks or so and I will reach out to X to find what their "official" policy and process is.

Can we get along without a dedicated butler, of course.

Like others have said,  I expect some sort of communication after they make a perk change after I have paid in full.

The change isn't the problem its how it was/is being done. We could have booked in an aqua class room and been just as happy for less money, but that option isn't available since the cruise is paid in full.

If The Retreat is fully booked, it may be an option if X can resell the cabin easily, which I Am sure...

You may not receive cash back in lieu of an FCC for the difference.

Ask your point of reservation to find out if this is possible.

  8. How can anyone be sure that these plans were not already in progress/place and she is only executing them, as was passed on to her???

I do not see her as being in the role long enough to work with the team to implement these items/changes.

Could she have halted implementation? I Am sure, yet I do not know the business decision(s) that went into making the new policies.

For example, I did know that the charge of gratuities were going up, about 90 days ago, yet there are a few here who were blind sided by it and believed they were deceived when it happened.

But, be that as it may.

I wish, but alas no.  We're on the Edge Barcelona closed loop in a few weeks.  Here's to hoping both ships have a healthy stock of good bourbon and wine.

w I can tell you that if The Reflection, in a few weeks, does not have a healthy stock of good bourbon and wine, it will make world wide news... LOL

  10. My thoughts about the 'person/title' possibly going away, does that necessarily mean that desired 'services' are going away from those who actually and fully use the Butlers?

Sounds like a consolidation to serve more cabins at the lower levels with somewhat slower service pending on what passengers call to have done.

I dare say that were those of us upset by the person going away called 'the team' frequently enough for services the 'individual' performed, over and over and over on many of the ships, someone at corporate would raise the white flag and re-instate the person???

Just a thought from a passenger whose spouse would never permit me to book a suite unless I hid my credit card statement and X's invoice and said we were gifted a suite... LOL Even then suspicion and the sentencing would loom large...

    bon voyage

  11. I think you may want to call X to confirm what you are seeing in the app vs email received.

That would have been the first place to start the process vs posting here and asking as we would have no idea, yet there may be someone who has had a similar experience...

    Let us know what happens.

Do Celebrity ever sell bookings in suite class rooms which do not include drinks, gratuities and wi-fi.

I’ve been looking at booking a sky suite on Beyond and have found what looks like a great deal from a U.S. based agent.

Whilst the price is the same as other agents or booking direct, this agent is offering $400+ obc in addition to the $700 which you get from the cruise line.

My only concern is that there is no mention of it including a drinks package, gratuities or wi-fi.

I’ve seen other staterooms sold without drinks etc but not sure if this is also done on suites.

ss - AI is the order of the day for suite level bookings...

Only time when it may not be, is if you purchase a 'standard' verandah cabin and win a 'move up bid'....

Yet to purchase a suite straight out, no way, currently to do what you are asking about.

Sorry, I thought I was clear in my post.

I did book my mother myself several months ago with our travel agent.

She has her own computer and randomly went online to find out information regarding our booking - information I had already provided to her. She went online and clicked to chat with some site thinking that it was Celebrity but it was some random travel agency - and they emailed her back our cabin #s. We are fortunate that it does appear to be a legit travel agent, just not OUR travel agent.

My biggest concerns are wondering what information does anyone (not just my elderly mother) need to provide a travel agent with in order for them to pull up our cabin #s and provide them to someone claiming to be the individual. If it is just merely by sail date and ship and first and last name, as someone suggested in response above, that's a security red flag in general.

My secondary concern is that my elderly mother may have provided our DOB along with first and last names and/or address and other personal info -- which is the huge red flag regarding my mothers general day-to-day actions on her computer. It may be time to restrict her access to the internet and ability to do online chats or go to certain websites - similar to child-level computer access restrictions f- or her own protection and ours.

    Thanks to everyone who responded!

My bad and My apologies for My mis-understanding of the situation...

so has this other "agent" taken over the booking?  Perhaps your TA can sort this out and maybe your mom should not do chats or website anymore...just for safety  and security!

My question would be: what is the reason the OP did not book mother themselves OR sit with her while she tried to navigate the website, phone prompts, chat or other method of contact???

I would think, here I go again thinking, the OP would have made the reservations with the TA and had mother with them for any additional info the TA needed to complete the booking.

After all it was said she was becoming 'forgetful'... Red Flag, for me at least...

At any rate I trust the OP will get this sorted out...

No written policy concerning 'non-alcoholic beverages' only alcohol...

You can do a search here on CC to read 'recent' responses to same question about bringing 'water or soda or soft drinks' even a wine search...

Bring what you can carry aboard, some leave it up to the porter to tag have delivered etc... your comfort level is what counts in terms of how it is brought aboard...

    Cheers and bon voyage
