Malbec Wine, sorry to hear you canx'd your Explorer cruise.  Hope you do find another Regent voyage to book.  We like the Explorer's Copenhagen to Reykjavik next July which includes Iceland and Greenland.

We love that itinerary and have done it on Crystal.  I did not look but is it in 2020 or this coming July?  We have friends in Reykjavik that we would love to see and it would be a pleasure to sail with you and Ida.

  2. One unit owner on the World has about 5,000 sq feet.  Several owners are trying to sell their condos as the ship is aging out. Not to mention the owners pay for fuel increases as well in their fees.

We toured the World several years ago and they had a $700.00 PP offer for their suites which was a bargain at the time. We booked and our cruise was canceled coming from Asia due to the bird flu and we were refunded our money.

We have a dear friend that lives on the World and told us we would be bored to death as it is nothing like the luxury lines and very sedate.  The owners do not like guests at all and we have been invited by our friend but decided to decline the invitation as she was leaving the ship for two months and not be able to have much interaction with owners or guests.  Glad we declined that one.

  3. We just lost a $200.00 booking and paid in full for our Explorer trip in November which was refunded less the booking fee in a master suite.  That being said, we can use it within one year on another Regent cruise.  We shall see and not the end of the world.

Our similar booking is on another luxury line we frequent in the largest suite.  It’s ashame that some comments have steered us away from Regent.

  4. We know three ladies who live aboard another luxury line even one wrote a book she is known as Mama Lee.  You can find it on Amazon.  All their needs are taken care of and none of them are billionaires I would say millionaires.  Some reside in suites I can think of only one but as one told us this is far better than a nursing home and they remain on the ship until dry dock.  Medical is not an issue unless they need to be evacuated if they would keep their suite or stateroom until they were able to return.  People who live onboard are given special rates. No, you don’t have to be a billionaire but you should have a few million in the bank for sure.

I served 20 years on Active Duty and never got a single tattoo - and about 10 years after I retired I figured, hey, why not?  I was always concerned that any tattoo I got I wouldn't like when I was old...so when I got 'old' I jumped in.  I always liked the eagle and flag tattoos, so I combined them.  I also spent about a third of my career in Germany so I added the German flag.  I was living in Colorado and love the mountains, so...mountains.  And my tattoo artist suggested adding my grade insignia.  So I guess this one qualifies as a military tattoo.  I added a bit of blue sky above the mountains about a month later to help them stand out.  I also told him I had to be able to cover it with a short-sleeved shirt just in case.

That said, I put a lot of thought into this one and met with my guy three or four times to work out the layout.  I sat 4 sessions for about 9 1/2 hours total to get it all done.  I would NOT think about doing one on a ship, rough seas or not.

Bill, that is a great tattoo and most of all thank you for your service.  I know you have heard that before but I mean it.

Well, I have tattoos.  And I drink.  And there’s nothing I see on this ship that makes me want to be on board.  Maybe 35 years ago,  but even then, no.

Not in my wheelhouse at all.

They may not be permanent tattoos they may be fake ones like the kids get at a fair.  I think it is tacky but who am I to judge.😎

  7. Amex told us we don’t need to call them as they know our frequent travel habits but I do anyway just for peace of mind .  We are Centurion with Amex.  Visa and Master Card we do notify just to be safe.  We have have never had a charge declined but if they did it would be for your protection and you would need to call the CC company to authorize payment.

Regent does have a dress code (if you doubt this I suggest you contact Jason O'Keefe or Jason Montague).  The problem is with enforcement.  It is embarrassing to both the person enforcing the dress code and the person being asked to change to proper evening attire.  I have spoken to the CEO of NCLH, and the President of Regent and there definitely is a dress code (as is written on their website and repeated every single day in Passages).  The issue is with passengers that think they are entitled to wear whatever they wish and have no respect whatsoever for Regent!

A couple of years ago, a few people on CC said that there was no policy about chair hogging on the pool deck.  Many people were not observing this policy.  I personally wrote to Jason Montague about this and the next thing I knew there was a table where passengers belongings were put after 30 minutes and there were more notices put in Passages.

Threads such as this one only encourages passengers to continue with their rude behavior and to ignore Regent's policies.  For this reason I speak up (loudly) on this issue.

MalbecWine - As you know, Crystal permits dress jeans so that is not relevant (nor is the dress code of any other cruise line).  Black "material" is fine - denim is not!

Think that Mr. Montague needs another email!

Oh, go ahead and E-Mail Mr. Montaque and I will put in my notes in as well and many others will to regarding dress code that is clearly not enforced and draconian at that.  I have had a lot of e-mails agreeing with me.  Thank you guys who replied.

  9. If you are using a Travel Agent just call them and place your bar setup and they should send you a confirmation of what you ordered.  It should be in your suite when it is ready for occupancy.  Outside of alcohol you can request juices or special mixers for example Fever Tree Tonic if that’s what you like or almost anything else.  If you don’t ask you don’t get.

    Enjoy your voyage!
