  1. I'm sorry you received sub-par service. That said, I think mentioning this to the MD at the time would have helped more than coming on here to complain, after the fact. I don't want to sound harsh, but taking care of this immediately might have made your cruise more enjoyable.

Agree. Been in the restaurant business 45 years. You as a guest need to let mgmt. know if there is an issue. If we don't know something is wrong we can't fix it. This goes for the entire operation of the ship. Let someone know at the time of the issue. It will usually get taken care of.

  2. We had booked Freedom (Oct 14) a while back during the preview sale. I have been stalking prices and watching for ES to become available. Well it has but the price is not better :( but there is another sale going on that I can move to an Aft cabin for $150 more. Just trying to decide if I should go for it now or wait it out? I do like our cabin ( 8f deck 10) we have now but I keep hearing about how great the aft cabins are. I really want a aft wrap but that is out of the budget at this point.

    What would you do??

The DW and I would always book an OV or inside. Until one sailing when RCCL gave us a free upgrade at checkin. yes, an aft balcony . We have, since that day, when available, booked aft balcony. Breakfast or dinner on the balcony with the ships wake is very calming. You also get a great view when you're leaving port. :D. Booked #8339 on Sunshine.

  3. How quickly on average do the Park and Ride shuttles get you from port to your vehicle? We will have a 15 hr drug

e back to Illinois post-cruise, so we are debating if it is worth the cost cutting if it will delay us from getting on the road for awhile.

Used them last summer on Ecstasy. I left the DW and the luggage at the pier, drove the 10 min over the bridge to Park n Cruise. got on the shuttle came back to board. Total 25 min. Disembarking is usually just as quick. Try to get off the ship as early as you can to avoid the masses of people who are also getting cabs, busses and shuttles from hotels. Should only take about 15-20 min after you are clear of the ship.

  4. I'm gonna check this for proper dates, so after The Med the Sunshine goes to NO. Does the Dream stay in Port Canaveral until it moves to NO and then Sunshine goes to Canaveral? I think that's how it should work..Ahhhhhhh!!!! :D

  5. I live in Cocoa Beach. The word here is that Port Canaveral is the top choice for the Vista. Port Canaveral has been dredging the Jetty and for almost 1 1/2 years to accommodate the mega ships.

They are even in the early stages of designing a new port/dock for the ships to maneuver in next to Grill's restaurant. The mega ships will then be able to stop here as a port of call.

Since the Dream is leaving and we are getting the Sunshine and Liberty, it sounds like due to the high number of cruisers here that Carnival has been talking to Port Canaveral about a new ship here.

I cant copy and paste the link but it is under Port Canaveral news if you Google it.

    AGREE !!!! Port Canaveral :D

  6. I can assure you that I purchased it 2 months before I boarded.

Would also like to know how you booked before you boarded. Got this from the Celebrity website. Booked on Silhouette next March and will be doing the package again. Would love to book it before we board...Thanks

    "Five Dinners Specialty Package," encompassing five dining reservations per person, offered across the fleet "Ultimate Specialty Package," which can be purchased only onboard, and features unlimited dinners in specialty restaurants of guests' choice, at least one specialty restaurant lunch, one admission to "Champagne High Tea," and unlimited breakfasts, lunches and dinners in "Bistro on Five" and, on Celebrity Reflection and Celebrity Silhouette , also at "The Porch" Celebrity's Specialty Restaurant Packages include cover charges and dining gratuities;

  7. We have booked an Aft balcony on the Silhouette for next April and need help with which cabin would be the biggest and best location,it is on deck eight.Have previously had an aft on the Summit but not on a S class ship, any information or pictures would be helpful,Thanks so much.

I'm attaching an aft picture of Reflection. We've booked a March 2014 sailing on Silhouette and have booked C1-1210. Your balcony looks to be a similar size to #1210. The cabins down the center have additional width on the balconies because of a room steward closet on each deck. We had the same cabin on Reflection and the balcony has an additional 4 ft of width. Hope this helps. :)

  8. I have seen, but not read this thread, for sometime. This morning, I decided to take a look. As we have not eaten in the MDR since 2009, this package looks made for us. That will teach me not to read everything on Cruise Critic!!!!

Even forgoing our two complimentary meals [as suite passengers] this looks like a great deal. I love the idea that I can eat in Murano but have desert in Qsine - hated the choice of deserts in Murano on our last cruise but love the chocolate tombstone in Qsine!

I have one question [apologies if I missed it during my skim through this thread]: is the gelato from the Gelateria included in the package, please?

    Sue

Unfortunatley, no it is not :(

  9. If the Ultimate Dining package is purchased, is the price adjusted to offset the "free" specialty restaurant visits that suite passengers are afforded?

That is a very good question. I would call Celebrity specialty Dinning. I would think that if you have unlimited dinner at all of the restaurants that they would not offer a credit. Remember you can eat at 6pm in Murano and then again at 9pm at Tuscan grill on the same night (unlimited is unlimited). We did that one night. We had drinks/wine and appitizers at Murano and then Entrees at Tuscan Grille later in the evening. Just make sure you have reservations at both restaurants when doing that. I forgot to put that into my original review

  10. Thanks, I wonder how many people, me included, have missed this one?

I was actually told about it on the Reflection from one of the other passengers who had the drink package. He told me this on Friday, the last day of the cruise. I went down to guest relations and made the inquiry to see if they would credit my account. I only purchased 2 bottles over the 6 days but it came out to be an $82 credit. We already drank the 2 bottles of 1990 Chateau Mouton Rothschild we brought on board. That's one of my 2 bad habits, great wine and great cigars . Smoke em if ya got em. Only at the Sunset Bar starboard side...:D. Here is a more detailed link to the Celebrity Site

  11. We're doing a B to B cruise on Silhouette in November-December. The 2nd part of the cruise is a 14 day transatlantic cruise Rome to FLL. I am thinking of purchasing the ultimate specialty dining package for the transatlantic cruise. We will have sampled the MDR menu for 13 days on the 1st cruise. If it is really outstanding we probably won't do this however dining in the MDR 27 evenings might be a little redundant. I would like some comments on my plan from experienced people who have used this package. Thank you; Doug[/quote

I've only done it the one time on Reflection but my DW and I enjoyed every meal. Your 14 days would give you a minimum or 3 visits per restaurant with a couple left over for your favorite. Eating lunch and breakfast at The Porch and Bistro on Five give you more options. You also get lunch at least twice in Murano or Tuscan Grill. I think you also, on longer sailings, get The Lawn Club Grill as an option for lunch also. Check with Celebrity on that. I've been in the restaurant business for 40 years. Trust me on this, you will enjoy these restaurants as an alternative to the MDR. The attentive service alone at Murano might get you eating there the whole 14 days..lol. Enjoy you month on Silhouette...:D

  12. Can anyone give me some input on the AFT Cabin 1690. It would be great to see some pictures.

Did not stay in that specific cabin but did stay in C-1 #1222, down 1 deck and a couple staterooms over. The pictures you see on The Celebrity website and on YouTube are acurate. The only difference might be bed placement. Just an FYI. There are 4 C-1 cabins (#2214, #1696, #1222, #9384) that have a much wider balcony, about 4-5 feet wider . If you look at an aft picture of any S class ship you can see the difference. If you can switch and if any are still available the extra space is great. :D
