  1. The new Cagney's menu isn't a good steakhouse menu.

Actually, it doesn't really qualify as a steakhouse menu.

It's a reasonable restaurant menu but it lacks too much to be called a steakhouse menu.

    And this is old news.

Could not agree more. How can you call yourself a steakhouse when you don't have porterhouse on you menu...Geez

  2. We actually have an Ice Bar in Orlando on International Drive. Been there once just to check it out. They give you the coat and hat and gloves. They only let us stay in there for 45 minutes (I think that was the time limit). Like some of the other poster's I'm from a cold weather city, Buffalo, NY so that concept is funny to me also ;)

  3. Port Canaveral is so convenient for us, we loved sailing on the Sun from there, now have to drive to Miami. I booked the Mar. 11 Breakaway from PC but there were very few cabins to choose from, ended up far forward, also, we prefer smaller ships but love NCL so we are happy to try this mega ship.

Port Canaveral is much closer for us also. However we decided to book Getaway out of Miami (3 hr. drive instead of 45 min.) We like that itinerary. Wanted to do Breakaway but not her itinerary so her sister ship will do just fine :D.

  4. With Freestyle Cruising I'm assuming that you get a different server every time you dine in the MDR for dinner. Can you ask to be seated in the same section each night so you get the same serving staff knowing that you might have to wait for a table? Also, can you get with the Maitre d' and actually set a reservation the same time each night with the same staff? DW likes to eat at the same time and have the same staff each night while sailing. Yes, we are throwbacks to the olden days of cruising :)

  5. Actually CCL copied NCL on this one, Freestyle predates CCL's elegant nights:). NCL has Dress Up or not nights where passengers may dress a little dressier for the photogs, which of course you are free to do on any night;).

They have a "dress up or not" night as well as "Norwegians night out". Last week we saw a combination of everything so it's up to you and what you feel comfortable in. DH wore a shirt and tie a few nights and I wore a few dresses. I personally like to get dresses up a few nights. Enjoy your cruise!

Ok, thanks for the quick response. Looks like I'm packing my dress up stuff..lo l:D

  6. So, if I'm reading all the posts and NCL literature correctly, no bottled water, no coffee drinks, no energy drinks and no fresh squeezed juice's are included in The Ultimate Beverage Package. Not very Ultimate IMHO. Did the Premium Alcohol Package On Celebrity and it pretty much included everything, even gave a 30% discount on bottled wine. Hopefully by next June NCL makes some changes, not holding my breath..lol

  7. I also read somewhere that if you book 3 restaurants in advance, you are offered a discounted rate...does anyone know anything about this? If it is true or not. Thx again.

I was thinking the same thing. Celebrity has a package deal on its specialty restaurants. Purchase 3,4 or 5 nights in them at a discounted rate. Too bad they don't have the Unlimited Specialty Dinning package. We had that on Reflection, that package was awesome :D.

  8. Good morning all. Searched but couldn't find the answer. Is there any way to pre-book the Chef's Table? On CCL you can reserve via the Steakhouse. Just wondering if you can do the same thing on NCL? Haven't been on an NCL ship since 1999. Mr. Sheehan seems to be doing a fantastic job with this line :). I know, what took us so long? Long story, lol. Also, as an early seating person of the past, how does one get the same servers in the MDR during a sailing, we like having the familiarity of the same team. Never cruised the Freestyle concept. Thank you all for your help.

  9. Booked a B6 on 2/22 cruise. Any comment on this cabin with extra large balcony????

We also just booked a B6 #9128. Would love to see any pics of the larger balcony, any room will do :). Last cruise was on the 6 month old Celebrity Reflection. Can't wait to sail on the 6 month old Getaway...Back with NCL, last cruise with them was 1999 on SS Norway, going to see what this freestyle cruising is all about :D

  10. Will be on Celebrity for the first time in the next 3 months and hope I'll enjoy it, but I love Princess and will be Elite next year. They have the best loyalty program, bar none. Check it out.

I'm an Elite Princess member. We did Ruby in December of 2012. We then took our first "X" cruise on Reflection in March 2013. It is with a heavy sigh that I say that Celebrity blew Princess out of the water in almost every category. Princess did have better entertainment IMHO. You will love your Celebrity cruise. We booked Sunshine this summer. We're curious on how Carnival spent $155 million dollars. Good decision....we shall see. We did get a killer price on an Aft balcony cabin. :D

  11. It has been my experience that Outstanding service will make avg. food seem like 5 Star. This menu looks like your nicer upscale restaurant menu in any city USA. Lets just hope that the service that we all expect on any cruise ship is up to standard. You do know that we'll have to cut the staff a little slack the first month or so, a new menu of this magnitude will take some time to implement. IMHO I think it will work out just fine..

  12. This is precisely why I book through a Travel Agent.

You know...one of those things from the past? ;)

I let them deal with Carnival Bookings and save me all the stress! ;)

    .

Me too. If I see something in my internet ramblings I shoot her an email and she is all over it. No worries mate....Cheers...sorry about the British stuff. Just finished reading all of John H's Facebook posting's. Kind of rub's off on you. :D

  13. Carnival is the only company that puts a limit (15). Why? I did Celebrity and Norwegian and no limit was imposed. Celebrity has the best Package, all liquids are included. Carnival should change its programme.

Had the premium package on Celebrity Reflection in March. Great program, included all drinks ($12 limit you pay the difference over $12), coffee drinks too. Carnival could tweak its program a little. Keep the 15 alcohol drink limit but allow coffee and non-alcoholic drinks at an unlimited part of the program. Charge a little more, Carnival makes money and I get my package with COFFEE DRINKS INCLUDED..lol

  14. Hi everyone!

I'm sailing on my first-ever cruise (December 5th), and going solo (my gf had to cancel).

How will dining room seating work for me?

Do I have to find a dining buddy or will I be assigned to a table that has room?

Sign up for either early or late dining and they will put you at a table with other solo cruisers.

Sailed solo a couple of times. I would contact the Maitre'd and ask to be put with other single cruisers. If I didn't like the group, I liked all of them, I would ask the Maitre'd to change my table.

  15. Fantasy 1998,. walked up to check-in. The young lady said Oh, I'm sorry there seems to be an issue with your OV cabin, give me one second please. DW and I look at each other and that, here we go look in both our faces. She tells us that there is a maintenance problem with the room and it will not be ready for this sailing. We're going to move you to stateroom V2. Me not knowing the room numbers I ask, is that an oceanview also. She said no its a Suite. I just said thank you. We got on the ship went to our new room, opened the door, walked in, closed the door and we both proceeded to high five each other and do the longest happy dance in history :D. It did take a couple of phone calls to get our luggage but, HEY!!! a suite. Nice recovery Carnival.:D

  16. However if the girl in the chain mail dress would appear in the dining room that might be another story.

I actually saw this on Ecstasy last summer (I think it was plastic but looked like chain mail). The girl actually looked quite attractive ...got the elbow to the ribs from DW for looking a little toooooo long.:D

Wear what you want gang, however, follow the rules...:)

  17. I started reading this thread and thought of the tiny clown car.. Cruised with 4 in a room once and it was a Mini Suite on Caribbean Princess and was too small. The bathroom was the biggest issue. It could be done, but a very well planned out strategy and schedule on bathroom usage and getting ready for dinner will be needed.
