  1. Has anyone taken a tour (that you can book ahead of time as we have 14 people) to the arches that drop you off and pick you up from Lover's beach for a good price? I know we can get one at the port but with so many people we don't want to be split up. TIA
  2. I think we just need a beach, no real amenities. Food close by would be nice. I would like to see more of the Island, but I honestly don't know what to do or what to see. I will check out Chankanaab. We are going in September and some of us just want to hang out by the beach and enjoy the day, but I personally would love to do some fun stuff like parasailing. That isn't a deal breaker though. I am considering just canceling the driver, shopping by the port and going to a beach. We are all fully mobile in our 50's. We like to do some fun, out of the ordinary things. I seriously am considering Chankanaab just because I want to swim with the Manatees. Everyone else could go to the beach at Chankanaab for the day.
  3. We have been to Cozumel several times. We usually just go to Paradise Beach (before going all-inclusive which worked for us as we are non-drinkers). Last trip we went on a formal excursion riding ATV's. It was a ton of fun and would do something like this again, but this year we have family who own ATV's. They are very easy going and will be happy no matter what, but for some reason I am feeling tons of pressure. There are 7 of us. We are all adults and would like to do a little shopping for some fake items (like Foakleys for our kids) and then go to the beach somewhere that isn't an all-inclusive. I was talking to the other family going with us and they said they didn't care what we do, but I feel like they want something laid back. I have hired a van for the day and am second guessing this decision. One adult said that they may want to stay on the boat or just go to a close beach and hang out for the day. So, now I am thinking that maybe we would be better off taking a cab from the International Cruise port to San Miguel and then to some beach and back to the ship. This may give us some leeway in case a couple want to branch off and do their own thing? I'm not sure what else we would do with the driver beside go shop and to the beach. We are paying $320 for the day and I think it would probably be cheaper to just get a cab from place to place? Thoughts?
  4. I saw on another site that Movies Under the Stars will go to closed captioning and they will only give headsets to Plus and Premier guests. It could have been a joke but after all of this it isn't too crazy. Has anyone heard that this will be the case? I can deal with everything else (although I think it is wrong to change things for poeple who are already booked and paid in full), but this would be really uncool. Our son doesn't care for the shows, but LOVED watching football by the pool at night. He also loved going back to the room and staying up late ordering room service while he watches movies. I will pay the extra for this experience, but if they take away movies and football and I have to read the screen that will be my breaking point.
  5. Thank you! We saw the buggies last time in Cozumel and they looked fun but we have more family with us this time so I do think a private tour would be best. I will check out ToursPlaza.
  6. We have been to Cozumel several times and usually go to Paradise Beach but are not going this time because it is now AI and we don't drink. One of our adults is able to walk fine but his amount of walking is limited. I am thinking about doing a buggy tour so we would have freedom but I really don't know what to do. It sounds like you need a plan for the buggy tour and really all we want to do is shop and eat. We may want to go to the beach for a little while but we are doing that in two other ports so something different would be great. We like authentic experiences not touristy ones. Our favorite tour was Costa Maya where we ate with a family and made tamales. However, we are with extended family and I'm not sure that they would want to do something like this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  7. When we were in Cozumel last, we saw the buggies driving around and thought that this would be a fun thing to do. Our goal is to be able to drive around and shop, eat, see some of the island, etc. Our only requirement by our 17 year old is shop at the flea market sort of shops. (He loves buying knock off sunglasses for friends for $10!). Other than that we are open. There are seven of us and the 17 yo is the youngest. We have one that isn't disabled, but is restricted to strenuous activities due to health issues. We have done Paradise beach many times, but are no longer interested since they are now a day use fee facility like Sancho's. I would like to be able to fit four of us in a car and just have two cars driving around together through the day. Can someone recommend a good tour that would provide these options for us? We are not big drinkers (maybe a fun drink like a margarita at lunch but that's it) and just want a relaxing day to sightsee and enjoy family.
  8. Symphony is our FAVORITE ship. I would highly recommend Chops or even the UDP for your cruise. We really enjoyed it in August. Do not miss the diving shows. They are incredible. They Broadway production of Hairspray was pretty good but Mama Mia is my favorite (on Allure). There is something about Abba that just makes me happy. 🙂 Make sure you go down the Ultimate Abyss at least once. We are considering a Mediterranean this summer just because we love the ship. You will have a wonderful time!!!
  9. Thank you. It is usually that way on most cruises but this is our first on Princess so I wasn't sure what to expect. I notice that they are showing House of Gucci one night for the movies under the stars. I am guessing it is edited.
  10. Is the comedian clean or "kid friendly"? My son is 16 but would not want to go if it is adult themed.

    Vanilla

    I know this isn't a Caribbean thread, but if you are ever in Roatan, they have great vanilla. It is super cheap. I bought a ton to bring back this summer for friends and family. I think it was about $1.00 for a 16 oz bottle. However, we had to go to a grocery store for that price. Luckily our tour guide was willing and went in with us to find it and pay. When we were in Cozumel they were selling vanilla for pretty cheap, maybe $10 for 16oz. However, it had different amounts in each bottle. That made me a little nervous. I'm not sure now about buying vanilla in Mexico from vendors or even tourist shops. Maybe a grocery store would be a good idea if you want to buy Mexican vanilla.
  12. We have been on several RC cruises. This year we decided to do the UDP and I think we will probably do it again next cruise. We really enjoyed the restaurants and my husband said that he doesn't want to go back to the dining room. With the lunches and dinners we feel that we got our money's worth. BUT... that price is way too high for four nights. If we were on that cruise my husband would be walking back to the MDR with me. There is a limit to splurging for us.
  13. Thanks for the responses! We have decided on Harmony even though we love Playmaker. It will be fun to try something new. We will be getting the dining package. After getting it once, we were sold. It was so fun for our son going from restaurant to restaurant trying everything. That was the highlight of his trip! (16 year old boy whose life is food at this time!)
  14. We recently went on Symphony and LOVED it!! Since she will be in Europe this summer we are trying to decide between Harmony and Wonder. What we loved about Symphony were the good amount of specialty restaurants to choose from and watching baseball at Playmaker. I know that they do not have Playmaker on Harmony but will they put a baseball game on at Sabor if we ask them? The little league world series was on during the Symphony cruise and we asked at Playmakers if they could see if it was on. They searched and changed one of the TV's for us. Is this possible at Sabor? It looks like Sabor is part of the dining package but can you just go have chips and guacamole and watch a game?
  15. Super... that makes me even more upset that I am not the only person to have this problem. We had three cruises booked with Royal Caribbean when Covid hit. They refunded my money within a couple of weeks. Princess... so far it has been over two years. This will be our only and last Princess experience.
  16. Princess shorted me $150 (credit card points) and a little under $100 in cruise credit during Covid. I tried to fix this back when it happened but I kept getting the run around. After many, many phone calls (hours!) where they told me it would be refunded any day, I had to let it go. I didn't think we were going to be able to use the credits anyway. Now we are booked and I have been trying to get help with this with no luck. I have my documentation showing proof of all the money they shorted me. I emailed customer service and have not heard back. I have called many times again in the past few days only to be told that I am calling the wrong department. I call the other department and they tell me to call another department. In other words, I am getting the run around. I know it has been a long time, but I have the credit card information and the booking where they show how much I paid for the cruise. I only want them to give me credit or OBC for the amount that they shorted me. I emailed them two weeks ago... will I ever get a response? Just curious if other people have received a response from Princess after emailing rather than calling.

  18. We have been trying to get $150 in Ultimate Rewards refunded since the pandemic. We tried for months and they kept saying that it should go back any day. It never did and I had to let it go after several months and hours of phone calls. Also, I was promised FCC in the amount of our cruise back during the pandemic and they shorted us about $100 pp. I have tried so many times to get this corrected and since we are going on a cruise to use some of our credits in November, I have started trying again with all the evidence in an email. I have not heard back from customer service in weeks. It is very frustrating. If HAL is part of Carnival Corp, why do they have better customer service? They need to understand that there is a reason that people buy big ticket items at Costco... customer service. This will be our last cruise with Princess.
  19. Royal Caribbean (I am assuming it is the same) says that they can accept your bid up until the night of your cruise. So, if you bid and haven't heard by sail time, don't unpack until later that night. 😁
  20. Yes, the regular started at $145 pp and the deluxe $175 and premium deluxe at $200pp. That was a bit more than we wanted to pay. We don't care about the obstructed view. We have already spent all of our "cruise allowance" for this year. This is a FCC that has to be used so we are going as cheaply as possible. 🙃 I don't expect to get an upgrade answer until closer to cruise time. We don't leave until November. I bid on a Royal Caribbean upgrade last month and didn't get a win email until three days before we sailed. I assume that they want to sell these rooms, if they can, at the higher price and they will upgrade with what is left. There are a lot of premium obstructed balcony so I figured that was the best option. Also, we bid the least amount on Royal and won.
  21. I have read that they are in front of the balcony door. Is that correct or are they over the sofa?
  22. I received an upgrade email today. To upgrade to the a deluxe balcony (obstructed) it was $85 per person. If I were to book that same room right now it would have been almost $700 more compared to an interior, which is what we have now. It was $65 pp for a standard. There are no standard obstructed balconies to compare pricing to but that seemed reasonable. However, it is more than we paid for our last upgrade (free) so it kind of stinks. There are tons of deluxe obstructed balconies, so I am hoping for this as there are three of us. Does anyone know where the third bed is in these rooms? Is it a pull out sofa?
  23. Can I ask how long it took you to get a response from her/customer service? I have emailed about FCC that was taken incorrectly as well as FCC that are incorrect and money not returned for a canceled cruise. Over the past few days I have been on hold for hours with customer service and am on hold again for 30 minutes so far (I'm sure it will be in the hours when it is over!) trying to get through. Each day I have tried, after two or more hours on hold I have to hang up. I am in the process of becoming a travel agent and have no idea how I can actually sell this line with the horrible customer service so far. If I am working for myself and I have to wait on hold for hours without an answer from a person, that is a problem. I refuse to treat my customers this way. This will be our first time on Princess and unless they completely wow us on this cruise, it will be the last.

  25. Mine still say they expire 12/22. It's okay though because I have my heart set on a November cruise. It they will refund my money that they erroneously took from me I could book this and be done with it! I finally had to email customer service. I have not been able to get a person who can help me unless I stay on hold for hours. I wish I had that time! Who knows how long it will take customer service to get back to me...
