  1. If the price drop after final payment do they give OBC or something?
  2. I am getting a higher price. Are you platinum or elite where you get lower prices?
  3. Do they have special events during this time? Special foods? I would book a balcony but it is $600 more!
  4. I am trying to decide if we should take a five day to Cabo before Thanksgiving (balcony) or a seven day the week after Thanksgiving (interior). We are having to use our goodwill credits before they expire at the end of the year and we have already spent our family cruise allowance for the year! However, I have enough to cover a five day, but would have to pay a little more for the seven day. I'm not too excited about an interior as we have never been in one before and I don't know if that would be too much fun. My question is, do they decorate the ship for Christmas this early? Would it be more fun to do Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo in an interior for a little more during this time of year? I'm not sure I want to go in an interior but it may be worth it for the extra ports. We have never been on this route as we always do Caribbean itineraries and don't know what to expect. Any advice would be appreciated as I have to make final payment in two days.
  5. I have been told that Cabo is just like the USA as far as pricing. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience buying fake name brands there? If they sell them, are they still expensive? My son purchased a pair of (F)Okleys in Cancun a couple of weeks ago for about $15 and would like to buy another pair.
  6. While at Chops a couple of weeks ago I ordered the rib eye and my son ordered the filet. The filet was 100x better! The next day we had lunch in Chops and I had the filet. I am still dreaming about that meal. I think the filet is worth the up charge! The times I have had steak or Prime Rib in the MDR they are usually okay. Good but nothing to dream about when I get home. However, most of the meals in the MDR are pretty good and the service is always the best. We had the UDP this time and I missed getting to know our food servers. By the second night we usually have our drinks and bread on the table when we arrive. We have always met the most amazing people/servers in the MDR. I’m always amazed how they share the story of their lives and families with us.
  7. We are sailing on Discovery Princess for the first time this year. I have always booked on more "kid friendly" cruise lines but we booked a couple of years ago and have Goodwill credits that we need to use before the end of the year. So we are taking our son who is a mellow 16 year old. Should I bring him games and books? I refuse to get him internet! That is why we cruise to get away from internet. I feel like we are going to have to focus on food (which is always his plan!) and sitting by the pool a lot. Am I wrong? Is there anything to really do with his parents that would be for a family?
  8. Maybe it was just the rolls we chose. We tried about four. They were good but not amazing.
  9. Thank you for that information. We are looking at next year and I was leery of booking out of Orlando or Galveston because of the distance to the airport. We have always gone out of ports that the airport is within twenty minutes or so from the port. I will consider Orlando cruises for next year as well.
  10. The rolls were not that great, but the Poke Bowl was amazing! The tempura shrimp and veggies were also really good. There is a Prix Fixe menu now. You can order any priced appetizer, two main courses (rolls, poke bowls, noodles dishes, etc) and a dessert for your $35 allowance under the UDP. If you are paying per roll, you can get the roll options and prices online. When you walk into Izumi, one side is the Habachi and the other side is just a restaurant.
  11. Do you know if there will be a lobster night on a five night cruise? I am assuming it is only on 7 or higher.
  12. We are looking at a Mexican Rivera cruise on the Discovery in December. I would love to have a bigger balcony but not at the cost of seasickness. Two weeks ago we were on Royal Symphony and we were on deck 10 it was the highest we have ever booked and the only reason we were there is because we bid on an upgrade. That just happened to be the cabin. But it was mid ship. One night I got up and could really feel the boat rocking. To the point that I stumbled a little getting to the bathroom, but I never felt sick. The only time I felt even a little nauseous was when we turned around and we were midship on deck 7. Maybe I should go a little further mid ship. Thanks!
  13. I am prone to seasickness so the highest room I have ever been in is deck 10 and I always do midship. On some of the Princess ships there are bigger balconies that are obstructed (E105-109) on deck 8 that we are looking at. Would I have to worry about seasickness in a forward cabin? Thanks! I have never been seasick on cruise ships but we have only done the Caribbean. We are looking at a Pacific Coast so I'm not sure what to expect.
  14. I wish we could afford to fly to Barcelona. We usually use Southwest miles to make our vacation money go a little farther. Maybe I need to look into airline credit cards that fly more flights that are international.
  15. If I book the cabin and it goes down after final payment date do they give onboard credit or something like that? Just curious. This is a little stressful because I really can't spend too much money. We just got off a cruise last Saturday and the only reason we would take this one is because of the goodwill credits. I hate to let them go, but I also don't have much of a budget after having our big summer vacation last week (that was also a canceled credit from 2020!)
  16. Thank you! That is what I will do. I will be checking on September 1st. There are quite a few cabins available right now.
  17. If you are going with kids make sure you check beaches on St. Maarten before planning an excursion. I almost planned something at a topless beach with four teenage boys and my father in law.
  18. I'm trying to plan our next cruise and having a hard time finding a ship as good at the Symphony. Next summer it looks like she is in Europe. I am thinking the Wonder or Odyssey but they are so expensive! We may have to go with the Harmony or Allure. Hopefully their specialty restaurants are as good as Symphony.
  19. We have never been on Princess and are going this winter. I am looking forward to it but have no idea what to expect for food. We are not food snobs but on our last cruise on the Symphony of the Seas (two weeks ago) we had the Ultimate Dining Package and only ate at the specialty restaurants. We loved it and my husband said we can never go back to the main dining room again! When I was little I didn't go on cruises but my parents did and my mom always talked about the wonderful food on Princess. I am wondering what the food quality is like? Should we plan on a specialty night or is their free option food really good like she said? I am not picky personally. I love any meal that I don't have to cook or clean up after. My family loves lobster and steak. I am hoping that is an option on some nights. (5 day cruise so it may not be) And... my 16 year old is all about the food. He is sort of a food snob. He will eat almost anything but prefers seafood. On the Symphony our ship days consisted of trying every food on the boat. Any input is appreciated.
  20. Just to add to this topic... We cruised two weeks ago. The day before the cruise I checked in and received a boarding pass. (This is on Southwest) Right before going to bed, I decided I probably should check our flight again as we left at 6:00 am and I didn't want to show up if it was cancelled. When I logged in, I got a message that we were now (3 of us) on standby for the flight and we were sixth in line! I checked other flights for that day and they were all sold out thinking that they would put us on another flight. I freaked out and called Southwest. I explained that I had these reservations since they opened the dates and I need to be on that plane with my family. Luckily they were able correct it after 2 1/2 hours on hold. We made our flight and everything else from that time on went smoothly.
  21. How often does this happen? We were on RC Symphony last week and someone on their balcony spotted a couple of people in the water. The boat turned around and the US Coast Guard rescued them. They supposedly had been searching for them for 18 hours. I thought that this was a crazy coincidence but it seems like it happens more than I thought. They never said who the people were or if they were refugees but they did find a small raft on the other side of the boat. They didn't give us much information.
  22. So has this started already? If so, has anyone bid and won that can share their experience? Nevermind... I just reread and see it starts September 6.
  23. This is our first cruise on Princess and we are looking at a cruise that is pretty cheap. It is close to home so we do not have to worry about airline tickets. The final payment is due in August (31) and I am wondering if it would be better to wait until final payment is due to book or book now? We aren’t sold on the cruise but for the right price we would go. Since deposits are refundable I am thinking that people may drop out at the last minute and free up some rooms that they want to sell therefore reducing the price. Is my line of thinking correct or should I just book and watch up until final payment to see what happens? I know it is a gamble but one we are willing to take for the right price. We are using goodwill credits so I don’t really want to lose them.
  24. So I would just show up and since he didn’t make it they would give us taxes and fees back? That would be great. I’m not really worried about the room changing. It’s just $500 more for three. I don’t understand why they don’t give you a four person room option? Instead they show that they are sold out of that category for three.
