  1. I forgot to say, I do have to adjust the colour of the photos. I know there are a lot of apps for this, but I use a simple one Microsoft picture manager. I just click on auto correct and it sorts it. No messing about with sliders. Obviously people who have the time, patience and eye for detail will use something more advanced. @pierces that looks nifty, easy to hold and operate. For me the trouble with using a phone or my phone is the size and stability of it with small hands.
  2. I borrowed our daughter's Panasonic compact for our second cruise and thought it was great even though oldish. I find the phone cumbersome and oh has a dslr. I wanted a compact camera that I could put in a small bag or pocket. I looked at the Panasonic but to get a similar one to the borrowed one was dearer than I wanted to pay at the time. Eventually I bought a Canon SX620. It's very basic but does for what I want. It will fit into a shirt pocket and can be used with one hand. I have taken photos with one hand through a moving bus window while looking the other way. One of those photos was of Sorrento Bay, I didn't like the drop so held my camera and just kept clicking while looking the other way. We have enlarged the photo to about 20 x 16 and it is hanging on our wall.
  3. I can't imagine how they could get around the ship themselves. There are so many staircases all over the ship. So many people sat all over that there is no clear walkway. When on Ventura a few years ago, I went into one of the beauty talks. They were demonstrating the correct way to apply some cream. One of the ladies went over to a table to help some ladies who turned out to be blind. There was a group sitting together, but I don't know if any of them were sighted, as they were sat behind a pole. A few days later when getting off the coach at Pisa, I heard some people asking the guide (quite forcefully) to take them around. It was the ladies this time with some men, they all appeared to have sight issues. I don't know if the guide obliged them. I never saw any of them walking around the ship.
  4. Apparently two ladies who are blind booked a cruise on Ventura. Their TA liaised with P&O with regards to their concerns. However when they boarded Ventura things changed and they had to argue their right to be there. They were given a letter and escorted from the ship. https://www.itv.com/news/meridian/2023-06-06/blind-friends-forced-to-leave-dream-cruise-dubbed-health-and-safety-risk
  5. There probably won't be much open at 3 pm for lunch. You might have to go for pizza or burger on deck depending on which ship you are going on. Maybe the two new ones might have places open. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
  6. ICF with regards to your photos, I think it's because the file is too big, or maybe a portrait photo saving the same way as a landscape one. Great blog, don't tell too many people to walk a bit further for tables or everyone will do so.
  7. They will take your cases to put in hold and you will see them next at your cabin door. So keep out anything you need. On our 1st cruise on the return our son (eventually) went to the wrong side to pick us up. What a clart it was to get to the other side with all the cases. On our last cruise a couple stayed the night before at the hotel. It was probably cheaper than a taxi.
  8. Pick up is on the south bound. You need to be at the back of the services next to the petrol garage. Around 5:30 a.m. is a good time to get there if you are leaving at 6:00. We normally get there just before that. Drop off is North bound.

    Palma

@Host Hattie Can you please change the name to just Palma.

    Palma

It's the same location as MB was talking about from her photo and she called it Palma. Do I have the wrong name?

    Palma

With all of the talk of La Palma, I went to search for some photos. I didn't really have any of the queues but I have some nice photos. I thought I would share some of them with you. These as you will gather are of the port just after docking.
  13. It's not the queues it's the plane I object to. I'm sure that many people on here also use P&O as they sail from England.
  14. To answer the original question. There aren't any planes involved.
  15. It's unfair and wrong to blame P&O for something beyond their control. It's not their fault you missed the ports and you could have gotten it anywhere and could have even taken it on-board yourself. P&O can only go off what is reported so if as you say people don't report things how can they be lying. Most of the crew won't know statistics about it. Things evolve quickly and what is true one day could be different the next. What happened to your wife must have been horrible but could happen anywhere, well done to her for how she coped with it. I hope she has gotten over it. Again though not P&O's fault. I am not one of the so called followers and you only have to look at the number of times something has been read to know that there's a lot more people on here.
  16. With regards to the shuttles at Palma, I would say nothing has changed since October and Britannia. We did walk in not knowing where we were going and it took quite a while. So once there we didn't stop long before asking someone where to get the shuttle back. There was a large queue when we got there and the sun was very hot. It had been cool when we left so I didn't have a hat. Our queue overtook all of the other ones. Many had been waiting for a long time. After standing for a while, I walked down past lots of queueing buses to take a look. Other cruises had buses moving up all the time. I thought that we might have been able to take a shortcut through the port, so went back to get hubby. Big mistake as we weren't allowed and ended up further back in the queue. There was no shelter until a small one just at the front of the queue, no seats or drinks. There was a lot of old people, people with walkers and some in chairs. I didn't fancy the long walk back again as it was a lot hotter than on the way in. I can't remember how long the wait was but it was quite a while. I would never of thought about using a taxi, it's something we have never done. Wouldn't know if we were being overcharged and how to ask them to take us to the right place. So basically P&O have known about the issues with this port for over 7 months and not done anything about it.
  17. So basically anyone not wanting a drinks-wifi package gets penalised. Pay extra to chose room plus pay daily gratuities. Lose the choice of coach travel - parking - obs. Lose free shuttles. Sorry but that doesn't sound so good to me. Embarkation time is governed by the coach arrival time for us so no benefit of chosing a time. Don't drink so would be paying for something I don't use.
  18. Have you tried phoning later in the day rather than early morning when most people phone. Leave it until middle/late afternoon depending on what time they close.
  19. It was on their website under days out I think. You have to be logged in to see it.
