  1. Many Thanks - look forward to seeing you on board Thanks for this. We’ve visited Rome on cruises a few times and also stayed there for a few days on a number of occasions but it is a while since we were last there. Will probably do the ‘included’ excursion because as I said there’s not much to see in Civitavecchia, unless some other excursions seem interesting.
  2. Yes that’s what I’m seeing - just seems strange they’re not staying the 2 days in Rome. You’re right that it’s at least 1 1/2 hours from Civitavecchia (if traffic is good) to Rome but hey ho I guess Viking knows what they’re doing. I would also say that for those already on cruise who decide not to go into Rome there’s not an awful lot to see/do in Civitavecchia. I joined one of roll calls a while ago as it’s only been a few weeks since I realised they were all 1 week cruises B2B2B🤪
  3. Hi Lorna - think we are on the same ship (Saturn) as you but start the week before in Barcelona & finish in Venice. I’m a little confused as I thought the turnover port was Livorno for Florence as our itinerary says we’re there for 2 days? 😗
  4. We have been on a variety of large cruise lines and have never really enjoyed the entertainment or music lounges much & tended to avoid them. Our first Viking last year and we went to Torshavn most nights. Think it was because it’s quite small & intimate - also in our opinion the Singer/Guitarist as well as the ships band were good. Really looking forward to our next one in September & hoping that it’s as good as the last.🤞
  5. They’re gorgeous - colours would have been my choice - they look so rich
  6. Hi again Peregrina - Gray Line have responded very quickly and as previously stated we just have to advise driver/guide of Cruise Terminal drop off on day of tour as their website doesn’t have facility to manage different pick-up and drop off points. Sorted. Thanks again everyone for your input.
  7. Thanks for all this Peregrina - going to try Gray Line again today 😄
  8. Thank you - I’m sure we will whatever we sort out. Think we’re all so fortunate to be able to visit these wonderful places & sail on these gorgeous ships 😀
  9. Hi Linda - many thanks for this. I’ve had a look at Stefan’s website, it looks really good & I’m sure it would be a more individual tour however, even if we got another 2 people to make up the tour (2-4) the total cost is approx. $1400 which is quite a lot more than we wanted to pay.
  10. Thank you Peregrina - I will try & email them again - I’d previously tried them through Messenger & just don’t think it got through! I would have been prepared to go with the Viking tour, even at the extra price, but being in a DV cabin, think they may be be fully booked by the time we’re allowed to get on and to book tours!
  11. Thanks for this - think it was Gray Line I contacted on FB but no response. When you say it’s only part of the Golden Circle can you expand - I thought all the Golden Circle tours were the same and took about 8 hours (excluding Blue Lagoon)?
  12. Hi Lorna - thanks for this but it’s the cruise port we want dropping off at 😂
  13. Hi Everyone - We will be on the Iceland, British Isles & Iberia cruise in September and are staying in Reykjavik the night before we board. We are looking at doing a Golden Circle tour the day we board and are trying to find a tour operator that would pick us up from our hotel, take us on the tour with our luggage and then drop us at the port. We’ve emailed one tour operator (with no response) and would be really grateful if anyone has done this and, if so who with? I suppose our other option is to leave our luggage at the hotel and after tour get a taxi to the port - interestingly I’ve emailed the hotel to see if they would be able to store our luggage until early evening, but again they haven’t responded. Any help gratefully appreciated.
  14. Yes it goes into City Centre - see attached for information on route, stops etc. https://parisbytrain.com/charles-de-gaulle-airport-cdg-to-paris-by-train/
  15. Have you considered taking the train into Paris - it’s effortless. They run every 15 mins or so and very reasonably priced. They run directly into/from airport and there’s numerous stops which should get you somewhere near where you’re staying. We’ve used them on our last 3 trips to Paris - they’ve never been that full and even with a large case & carryon it was not a problem.
  16. No, been there, done that during pandemic - ok now 😂😂
  17. Forgot to mention I substitute some sultanas/cranberries etc in place of cheese for fruit scones
  18. Here it is - obviously needs to be adjusted (unless you want to make 150)😂
  19. I never saw anyone turned away & even if Winter Garden was full I’m sure you could get Afternoon Tea to take outside at poolside/poolside bar. We once went in just to get some scones to take back to our cabin - scones are scrumptious. One of the waiters got me a printed recipe off the chef - another example of Vikings great customer service👍
  20. Surely that’s down to preference and I would hazard, particular Ship/Chef - we ate at CT 3 times on our last cruise (no problem getting reservations once on board), we thought it was excellent and only once at Manfredi’s, which in our opinion wasn’t ‘all that’!!
  21. We have flown from our local airport to Paris (only takes just over an hour) on a few occasions on this aircraft and they’re fine.
  22. Yes it isn’t as far however, they usually route you through Amsterdam and quite often what would normally be a 2/3 hour flight from your local airport can take you 7/8 hours or more - still worth it though 😀
  23. Whilst we didn’t do the Alhambra tour on our cruise (we had visited on a previous holiday to Spain), I would encourage you to do this tour if you do no other - so worth seeing - absolutely beautiful.
