  1. jimdalva- I found it not tasteless- I could have written just the same. I find the whole nudiest idea- tasteless- and absolutly a no go on crusie ships or hotels for that matter - it may be okay at a special staked beach area. One can just hope they obey the " towel rule" - I really , really feel sorry for the staff members.

Just picture it ( or maybe better not) a formal night on a " usual gala evening on usual cruise" - can you see ( with your inner eye of course) all those nice dressed passengers, some even dressed up to nines. And- change of scene- picture all of them without any clothing??!!!! Oh dear call me old fashioned - but I can´t help it!

INCORRECT, The MDR is the one place everyone must be dressed. And many dress to the nines, Tux and all. But if its not your thing well to each their own.

Im sure some of the crew is unhappy to be there and keep to themselves so I don't notice them. However MANY enjoy us on their ship. We are a fun group, tip well and are less demanding ( a crew member told me this).

    HAPPY SAILING

  2. I think the main problem is seeing too many ends.

The porters will be upset by the lack of luggage tips. The crew will be happy because they don't have to load and unload luggage.

Cruise critic posters will be upset because they won't be able to criticize those who don't dress formal. ;)

Yes there will be many ends, but also LOTS of luggage. Nudist like to play dress up. And they tip well.

  3. To me, people walking around the Lido naked, serving themselves food with their little towel in hand seems very unpleasant.

And as I have said before, parading around naked in front of a crew of men and women from conservative, modest societies disrespects their culture and values. This is still their workplace – and I think Holland America should reconsider this policy, if they haven’t already after reading some of the comments on this thread.

HAL should avoid nudist, but it would be OK for lowly Carnival to host them right!

  4. The less we have to handle our bags the better. I carry my back pack with essentials and no more.

Also on the plane, all those people who carry every thing they own on board then try to stuff it in the overhead binds just hold everybody up.

They hold us up again after we land. How many times have you seen a person become a road block , like a cork in a bottle holding up the entire back of the plane while the isle in front is empty and they are still fumbling for their bag as well as their kids bag(who is entitled to one but can't carry it) then bumps his way down the isle to the exit.

Then this is repeated several more times till the plane is empty.

So I say check it, mine has never been lost, however it has been damaged. Southwest bent the telescopic handle and then gave me a future credit worth more than the bag. Also I fixed the handle.

  5. Don't hesitate to ask someone to check cabin with you if alone until you get your barrings or for every return in the evening. When this issue started getting bad on my undergrad campus 77-81..they finally started initiating escort service so girls did not have to walk alone...so sad..it was such a small seemingly safe school...this is just a wake up call to the truth...you will adjust and still have a wonderful time....with folks or alone...have a wonderful trip..prayers to you and yes for this woman. And healing to all involved .

Did you have Indonsians running around your campus? NO -- Bad things happen everywhere to everyone, by anyone. Be carefull but live your life.

  6. "I am surprised that there is such a thing as a "clothing optional" cruise;"

Hal should stay away from these type of charters, opens the door to trouble...

Open your mind. HAL is no different than any other cruise Line or land based resort. Nudist are ALL around and are catered to by many resorts, beaches, camp grounds and cruise lines. Nudism is a Billion Dollar industry and growing. There have been over 2 nude cruises offered every year for the past 25 years by one charter company alone. That pace has picked up in recent years. They have charted almost every major line. We nudists are here to stay. You don't have to join us just know that we are around.

  7. We were on the Noordam recently and shared HMC with the NA that day. I didn't realize it was a nude charter...everyone we saw was fully clothed. However, we didn't go to the beach but just walked around the port and had the barbeque.

    Perhaps on the beach?

During our nude stay on Half Moon Cay , Feb 10th , we were the ONLY ship there!

  8. Yes we must dress for diner in the MDR but not the Lido.

Yes we went nude on Half Moon Cay. A wonderful Day.

Yes could be nude in all bars and show lounges EXCEPT at the meet the captain show.

HOWEVER, 80% of us do dress in the evening just as on any cruise.

Now a word about sitting on towels. Towels are like seat belts, you wear them in case there is an accident. Now barring an accident (and I haven't had one since I was 6) my butt cheeks (the only part of me that comes in contact with the chair) are cleaner than my hands which touch everything, and are known to spread disease( I mean all hands not just mine). But perception is everything, so we sit on a towel!

  9. LOL - so you appointed yourself as, what - oh the comedian, the standard or just some pompous internet person who puts someone down with your witty observation?

Thanks, but I will pass on the cruise, following the "nude cruise". No matter what anyone says, because there are rules for "nudist" to sit on towels or whatever prim protocol is called for, it is hard to imagine that someone who is attracted to a lifestyle of not wearing clothes will always follow these rules. Will someone not a "nudist" sit on their balcony or stateroom furniture with their bare bottom and without a towel, maybe. But will someone who likes being in the buff do it, also maybe but perhaps with a little more probability because it is so liberating. Personally, I do not want to follow that act.

If someone wants to get an "all over tan" - great, how unconventional and exciting. But I choose commenting about this to the cruise lines that I enjoy travelling on and I will let them make their future decisions after considering my input and spending habits.

You seem to have a very low opinion of nudists. If you chose to educate yourself a little about us you would be surprised. Or don't and as you say just avoid us.

  10. We wish the woman a speedy recovery of Body, Mind and Soul.

Now a little about us nudists

    WOW what to say first.

We were on that cruise, yes we are nudist.

No the crew was not nude, couldn't be if they wanted.

Nudist have had their own cruises for over 25 years with this one company, and now they have competition from other charter company's.

Almost EVERY major line has hosted a nude cruise. And NO you cant book one by accident and be surprised. We take the entire ship. We have 2-4 cruises per year to chose from.

NO it is not a sex fest, we are beautiful on the inside not always on the outside. Its not a sexy environment at all.

No we don't contaminate your ship, being nude makes you very aware of hygiene and we are a very clean group who always sit on towels. By the way aren't all you guys naked inside your staterooms, do you sit on towels?

We nudist are all shapes and sizes and all ages, religions, colors from all walks of life, rich, poor any every thing in between. We are all around you, you just don't know it.

Its a fast growing part of vacation travel. Big modern nude resorts have sprung up across the country and the world. We have many nude beaches some official others "tolerated'

Before this cruise, nudist sold out a Miami hotel and it went nude for the weekend.

We spend money and cause no trouble, we are good business.

We are not 'Yucky' people, but if you 'don't get it', I guess I cant explain it.

Any question, just ask, I'm happy to help.;)

  11. Posted January 20 on a thread about the Disney Dream

So noro was definitely on board. I've never heard of Disney noro on the news as much as you do Royal, Carnival, NCL. But with the number of folks in Medical plus the doctors reaction, it was in full force. I wonder what the number is. BTW, there was no charge for the medical service we received due to the diagnosis.

But Disney has only 4 ships. Carnival has about 25, RCCL 24 and NCL 14 (all just a guess) The law of averages.
