AARP Raises Limit on Gift Card Purchases
Rick&Jeannie replied to Rick&Jeannie's topic in Princess Cruises
Wow! That's quite different from Princess and Carnival. Again...each line sets its own rules. -

Congratulations on this score! -
If you're trying on a phone/tablet...try a desktop/laptop. Or vice versa...

Hey...we've all been there! 🙄

Confused About A Specialty Dinner Reservation
Rick&Jeannie replied to Rick&Jeannie's topic in Princess Cruises
DOH!! Mystery solved. Yes, it went straight to my credit card, apparently without stating that it was doing so. Not a big deal...I was expecting to have to pay for it like that but since there was no indication of it I was questioning it went through! I should have thought to check my credit card online. As usual... @Steelers36 has pulled a rabbit out of the hat! Thanks! -

It doesn't take much to confuse me! 😄 But...in past experience any time I have booked a specialty restaurant (in advance of a cruise) it always wanted payment. For an upcoming cruise I had booked an MDR (non-specialty) for every night of the cruise...intending to go back and change 3 nights to specialty after conferring with our travel companions. I got the go-ahead from them and I just went in and (supposedly) changed 3 nights to "specialty". This was done on a desktop PC via the "web version" accessing DMW. If I go back in and look...they appear to have successfully been changed. As I was changing the first 2 nights it flashed a dollar amount up on the screen and then disappeared within a second or two. The 3rd night it did not do this. I *do* have some OBC...but not nearly enough to cover 3 nights' specialty dining for 4 people. When I go into Payments in Cruise Personalizer...it shows I am fully paid. Have they changed having to fully pay ahead of time? I did not have any SD in my fare package. I'm scratching my head here...somewhat afraid that it is going to throw out my reservations if not paid. Anybody seen this?

I don't think that is the point that @voljeepwas trying to make. I *suspect* he was referring to OBC that might be offered up by a TA or some other situation where you don't have access to some portion of OBC until actually on board. I could be wrong.... and you are totally correct if the OBC *is* available up front and "paying" for an excursion.

That's the first instance I've heard of there not being a socket behind *one* of the beds. (Very often it is behind only one of the beds...not "centered" between them as you might expect.) However...as I said, I've not been on the Enchanted but we *have* been on the Discovery...a newer ship. The Discovery did have a socket behind a bed. Strange that they would change course with such a small item...

Various people have reported that the app can lag behind the website by as much as a couple if days. Suggest that you give it a day or so...

Fully understand if you don't want to pursue this... Help us out with some clarification, please. What type of device are you using the app on? (phone, tablet...) What type of phone? (iPhone, Android) I understand about using the (crippled) version of the app on your laptop...I have no explanation for that...other than make sure all of your "personal info" is plugged in correctly. Also...some people have reported strangeness when they did not have their "emergency return" airport entered. Oh...and make sure that the system has you birthday entered correctly...this is a KNOWN issue! If using the "real" app on a phone/tablet...you should be able to log in using *either* credentials or booking number. Can you enter the credentials that you use on the Princess website?

Same here... there have been a couple of times where we actually did tip the driver as well...but it was for extraordinary circumstances.
-
I was under the impression that just placing a bid for an upgrade was just that...a chance. No guarantee. It sounds like you were saying that the upgrade system wanted $180pp as a minimum. You certainly will not "lose" that money if your bid is not accepted...but it's not a given that you'll get that upgrade.

While WiFi in the Caribbean tends to be somewhat better than other itineraries...I would not count on that at all. Until Princess makes the move to Starlink, WiFi is still something of a gamble. Anything that graphics oriented is going to (potentially) have significant lag. It would drive me crazy! (A short trip, I know! 😄)

Grand Princess: What Main Dining rooms are open?
Rick&Jeannie replied to swdke's topic in Princess Cruises
It would tend to be something very unusual for a MDR to be closed during a cruise (for dinner). -
This was my understanding...that it was "free" and invitation only.
-
That's when you have to pull out that bag of "Magic OBC". Nobody will give it a second thought.

AARP Raises Limit on Gift Card Purchases
Rick&Jeannie replied to Rick&Jeannie's topic in Princess Cruises
That just seems to drive home the fact that these are cards being supplied by each cruise line itself...with their own "set of rules". If this was an offering from AARP you would at least think that the rules were standardized. -
Hmmm...interesting. A few updates back they seem to have fixed this "double login" issue. When I go into the web version now (after first logging into the main web site) it always "knows" who I am and no longer asks for that second login. If this is what's happening on your phone/mobile device...make sure that you are using the latest version of the app. Maybe even uninstall and reinstall. Many people have stated that this solved a lot of their issues.
-
Personal opinion...it's *probably* legit, from the standpoint of a third-party firm trying to sell Princess cruises; perhaps similar to what a Travel Agency does. (Ok...not quite, but you get my drift.) However...I would NEVER try to log into a third-party website with credentials from another site that I frequent...if they are totally legit then you just don't "get in". If not so above-board...they could be harvesting credentials for who knows what purpose. (I'm not saying that this is what they are doing...) The fact that they use a portion of the Princess Seawitch logo and other things we are used to seeing just gives me a feeling that this is not somebody I want to do business with. It's kinda like they are trying to take advantage of their target group and trick them into coming through the door and talking to their "used-car" type salesmen!
-
A bug you say...? Surely you jest? 😄
-
Probably NOT doing anything stupid...the app is known for its many quirks. Getting logged in initially is one of them. I log in with the same credentials as I use on Princess.com. Give that a shot.
