  1. Thanks for the suggestion @Host Hattie and @exlondoner. We've not been to Ghent before so we will have a go.
  2. Unfortunately Alesund and Stavanger have been cancelled due to anticipated high winds. Zeebrugge scheduled for Saturday 12th.
  3. And now back aboard after returning via the waterfront. A very delightful day's walk, about 15km all up. Trondheim is a great port.
  4. A nice climb to the Trondheim fortress with a view of the ship through the trees.
  5. A bright sunny start to our port day. Hope you feel better @TheOldBear.
  6. An actual sunrise this morning. Approaching the pier in Trondheim 8.30a
  7. Sorry for the delay. I had to wait for a QM2 sea day to avoid an eye-roll and an "oh for heavens sake" comment from Mrs. Sfred to research a where in the world port. 😄 Santa Margherita Italy. Contains Santa for the Christmas game, and Mar for the month game.
  8. Crossing the arctic circle again, southbound for Trondheim. Here's another "sunrise" photo taken at high noon (well, 11.20a). Thankfully my phone weather app says the UV index remains "low".
  9. We saw the lights also last night, very briefly from deck 12. We had been enjoying Irish coffees in the Commodore after dinner and thought to take a stroll outside on the way back to our room. There was a short break from the earlier rain and the lights were visible through a gap in the clouds.
  10. We're at the world's northernmost brewery for beer and lunch. So many beers. I hope Mrs Sfred remembers the way back to the ship.
  11. Mrs. Sfred and I were off the ship shortly after docking and took the shuttle into town. We walked across the bridge to the cathedral and then to the cable car 🚡 . Some great views of Tromso and QM2. We will watch for the northern lights from the ship tonight. Fingers crossed for cloud breaks.
  12. This photo looks like a sunrise but actually was taken just prior to the noon position report. We crossed the arctic circle at approximately 1.12p this afternoon.
  13. Correct! This is the Askoybrua bridge just to the west of Bergen. Noteworthy for our Where in the World game as the lowest bridge in the world that QM2 passes under. Last night upon departure the captain reported that we had 1.4 meters of clearance. Many others besides me braved the cold and wet evening to watch. As we approached I overheard another gent remark that we should nominate a single volunteer to take a picture while the rest of us went inside to the pub.
  14. Two more photos of a feature of an already seen port.
  15. Thanks @bluemarble. We're there now. Here's our nearly identical photo. We came up as soon as we got off the ship .
  16. Here's a different feature for an already seen port.
  17. Isn't life hard when an evening on a Cunard ship interrupts playing Where in the World on Cruise Critic? 😄
  18. @ExArkie beat me to it, well done! I was about to reply with San Lorenzo beach in Gijon Spain but then tonight's show in QM2's theatre started and I had to put the phone away.
  19. While there wasn't a sunrise this morning, we got a brief winter sunset as we were dressing for dinner. We're doing Diamond dinner in Verandah tonight.
  20. The captain gave an updated Bergen forecast in today's noon position report. Cloudy and showers. (As would be expected)
  21. Daylight, although a somewhat bleak start to the day. The captain reported yesterday that it should clear for Bergen tomorrow. Pictures from deck 11. Internet is still quite good.
  22. It's the start of our second sea day on the way to Bergen. Sunrise is already later so it was dark for all of my usual morning walk. Now in Carinthia with coffee. The Shakespeare company did an excellent show yesterday afternoon and has some more sessions today.
  23. QM2's gym is open 6a to 8p.
  24. Here's another taken one turn around deck7 later, and also a few turns earlier. As you can see I didn't have a lot of competition for space at the railing. A great time of day on QM2. By the way, on board internet is working great today. I'm sure that will change as we go further north into the fjords.
  25. Wonderful photos, thanks @photosg! We're off to a great start on QM2. Hope we see even half as much as you were able to.
