  1. This post is from 2017. The OP’s ship has already sailed, literally.
  2. I also love the 14-day round trip itinerary out of Vancouver. You just won’t see as much on the 7-day cruises out of Seattle. The Royal is one of my favorite ships. It’s not brand new, but still feels new and modern. The Crooner’s bar is nice. There are some seats along the windows that are perfect for inside viewing and cocktails. I like the alternative dining venues. The pizza restaurant and the sushi bar are both good. I will be back on her next month and can hardly wait.
  3. Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll give them a try.
  4. Our cruise leaves in five weeks and I am still getting this message when I try to reserve specialty dining. Has anyone else gotten a message like this?
  5. My go to breakfast in Sabatini’s is the Belgian waffle with fresh berries and whipped cream.
  6. It doesn’t seem right to me either. I’m not sure what’s going on with the app.
  7. We’re leaving in a little over a month and the app keeps saying that it’s too soon to book a specialty restaurant. We will just wait until we board the ship.
  8. We also had a recent flight change and it had nothing to do with EZ-air. The airline changed the flight departure from 9:05 am to 9:15 am. Instead of keeping us on the 9:15 am flight, they moved us to a 7:00 am flight. I only found out about it when I went to book a rental car. Luckily I was able to change it to the 9:15 am flight free of charge. We also had some changes on our EZ-air flight to Barcelona. Our flights were changed so that we arrived 2 hours late for connecting flight in Canada. It took a couple of days, but it finally was straightened out without having to call anyone. I’m guessing they caught their mistake and fixed it. The flight isn’t until September, so I wasn’t in a rush to call.
  9. Is there any way to get the friend’s Princess confirmation number? Tell him you need it to link your dinner reservation s. Once you have that, you can go on the Princess app and see if he shows up. Hopefully things work out.
  10. I had something similar happen to our group booking. After speaking to three different reps, on three different days, and a supervisor, I gave up and booked a different cruise. I will never book directly with Princess again. My regular TA tried to help me, even though she wasn’t getting a commission. Princess refused to speak with her. Lesson learned.
  11. I had a friend that was waitlisted and she got a call 48 hours before the cruise left that she had a cabin. She had already cancelled her flights, but she was able to get them back and make the cruise with us.
  12. I would love to try it, but it’s a little pricey for our budget. I would be in for about $75 a person.
  13. We had a group of four on the October 22nd cruise. There were a couple of issues, but they were either addressed to our satisfaction, or beyond the control of the cruise line. The most annoying thing was almost daily charges for other passenger’s drinks. We both had Princess Plus, so there shouldn’t have been any charges. We eventually got them all removed, but it was an annoyance. Secondly, we had a leak in our cabin ceiling that caused all of the lights to short out. They got the lights back on pretty quickly, but it took two additional visits to fix the leak. Again, not a big deal. None of our belongings were damaged and the work was completed within 48 hours of our request. Two things beyond the control of the cruise line were missing our Panama City port due to civilian protests, and all four of us contracting Covid. This has absolutely nothing to do with the condition of the ship and it didn’t ruin our cruise. Luckily we didn’t start feeling sick until disembarkation day and three of us recovered. My aunt required a doctor visit and has been diagnosed with Long Covid. She’s at home, but still not well. As for the food, service, activities, shows, etc., everything was good. We enjoyed ourselves. I think the Ruby is nicer than the Grand, or the Crown. I like the Royal a little better than the Ruby, but that’s my personal preference. I wouldn’t hesitate to sail on her again.
  14. One other thing, bring enough prescription meds to last for the entire cruise. I recently left my glaucoma drops behind and didn’t realize it until the ship was getting ready to sail. I went to five pharmacies in Cabo before I found what I needed. Also, contact lens solution was impossible to find. I also bring a first aid kit, including antibiotics, masks, and a thermometer. Fill it up with cold medicines, Advil, Tylenol, etc. Believe me, I haven’t been on a cruise yet that I haven’t needed it.
  15. I had a recent cruise where two of us booked a cabin with Princess Plus and two people booked without. The cabin with Princess Plus received a $400 credit ($200 per person) and the one without received $600 ($300 per person). It was the same cruise and the same travel agency. It’s too bad that Princess hasn’t been able to give you an answer. Anyway, the credits can vary depending on upon what you have booked.
  16. I would also recommend autopay, or pre-paying your bills before leaving. The ship’s internet isn’t secure. I wouldn’t risk accessing any bank accounts while on board. Your menus might not repeat. I was told that there are 30 days of different menus that can be offered. Guest entertainers will board the ship throughout your cruise. They change over at the larger ports like Honolulu and Auckland. There will be a lot of sea days. I spent most of them walking the decks, reading, watching movies, and relaxing. Enjoy your cruise and congrats on your retirement.
  17. We had the same issues with embarkation in Galveston almost twenty years ago. It sounds like it’s still not fixed. Thanks for the review. It just confirms why we wouldn’t sail from Galveston again.
  18. My family will never forget the horror of boarding in Galveston. Due to three ships in port and pouring rain, our ship didn’t leave until 10:00 pm. I think you are fine arriving at 1:00 pm.
  19. Strange, because we were able to watch all of the games in our cabin, on the same ship, just two weeks ago. It won’t say “football” on the screen, but it should be there.
  20. The football games are available in your stateroom. It’s a little confusing, but I believe you go to live TV, then special events. The sports channels carry other sporting events. Hope this helps.
  21. From my experiences, using an IPhone, and having AT&T as my carrier, if I’m in airplane mode, I can only receive text messages from AT&T subscribers. My sister did not purchase a Wi-Fi package, but she was able to send and receive text messages to her family using her AT&T plan, while in airplane mode. So, if you have AT&T, you can text other AT&T users without paying for a plan. You won’t be able to access anything else though.
  22. We had no problem making our 10:20 am last week, but it was a Monday. I think there were only two ships in port. I don’t think I would chance it on a weekend.
