  1. Not sea days. On our cruise the Belgium day becomes an overnight in Amsterdam, though not docking until 3 PM. Going by the previous cruises that missed Isfjordur, they overnight in Akureyi (I think I spelled that incorrectly. )
  2. Right, not without help from booze or unfortunately a murderer.
  3. We are on the 8/6 cruise and have received an e-mail that the Belgium port stop is cancelled due to low tides. Nothing yet on Isafjordur, but I am dreading finding out. And guess which two port we had made our most definite plans for. 😢
  4. And (unless they change what has been proposed for a few years) even less expensive for those over 70 or under 18. Their fee will be $0.
  5. Damn, we were really looking forward to Bruges, but our port stop in Zeebrugge has been cancelled due to according to NCL low tides. It was supposed to be on a Monday, so I googled museums to see which would be open on Mondays. Several art museums were, which had DW very happy until the cancellation. And there is a French Fries Musuem. That intrigued me.
  6. Showing up just as a place opens or very close to opening always seems to work well. In Stockholm, we got to the Vasa just as it opened. In Dublin, just before opening we were near the front of the line for the Book of Kells at Trinity College. (Spent the little time we had to wait schmoozing with some other cruise passengers who were on the line.)
  7. Understood. My understanding is that so far when boarding, passengers then find out Isafjordur is cancelled, not anytime earlier.
  8. Actually, they do not show Isafjordur as a tender port; they do show Geiranger as a tender port.
  9. Our ship that let us off in Rosyth was definitely not too big. It was the former Ocean Princess, with a capacity of under 700 passengers. What a wonderful ship and cruise that was. 😊
  10. When we went by cruise ship to Edinburgh, the port we docked in was Rosyth. We did not need a tender, but of course transportation too and from Edinburgh. BTW, we had an overnight.
  11. The best advice if they cancel your port is to call and make them follow their own policy that you get the money back to your credit card if they excursion is cancelled before 48 hours. And it did not take nearly the 7-10 business days that they said it could take. I received an email this afternoon from my credit card company that the refund is being credited to my account. only a few business days later. No standing in a long line for us at disembarkation to get some money back!
  12. i received an e-mail from my credit card company earlier today that I had a refund coming, so it took them a lot less than the 7-10 business days that they said it could take.
  13. Thanks for the research. But I have a feeling that Carnival does not really want to be known as the leading cruise line for passengers to go overboard. 🤦‍♂️
  14. Are you on that August 6th cruise? If so, why don't you join our roll call?
  15. Yes, that is what I figured, but I called NCL anyway as we will be in the port of Amsterdam in only a few weeks for actually 2 days as our stop in Belgium was cancelled due to low tides. They still have us going to the port in the middle of town.
  16. Tom Petty was actually a member of the greatest supergroup ever, The Travelling Wilburys! In alphabetical order, both by first and last names, the Wilburys: Bob Dylan George Harrison (the leader of the group) Jeff Lynne Roy Orbison Tom Petty If you do not own the CD, buy The Travelling Wilburys Volume One.
  17. The US Coast Guard is searching for a 30-year-old cruise passenger who Carnival says 'jumped' from a ship on its way back from the Bahamas (yahoo.com)
  18. This is not immediate. They have to plan it. Look how long it took Venice to close after Venice made its wishes clear that they did not want large cruise ships. Big cruise ships begone: Amsterdam to move cruise terminal out of city (usatoday.com) Note that they are planning on how to do this.
  19. Mine was down to himself and one assistant, and is just getting back to getting some of his old staff back. TAs had it particularly tough during the Covid pandemic. Lots of work with cancellations both by cruise lines and passengers. And none of that brings in commissions. No one was sailing, no commissions were being paid. Mine did say that if he had known at the beginning of the pandemic what would have happened, he would have got out of the business. Even when bookings started again, there was a delay until commissions would be received. For example, we booked a cruise in 2021, and it is finally going to sail next month.
  20. Interesting that you used the word traveler; Rick Steves says be a traveler, not a tourist.
  21. ✌✌ for both us and all our fellow passengers. Your scheduled stop should be only a few days after ours, so the chances are we will either both be in or out of luck.
  22. Same with me. Our TA is actually the president of his cruise agency. He pretty much had to lay everyone off when Covid stopped cruises, but is now beginning to get more agents working for him.
  23. Our first NCL cruise was to Bermuda in 2006 on the NCL Crown. I remember there was a big band from Poland. They played at the shows and did their own concert one night, Glenn Miller tunes. We really enjoyed them (and that is despite my tastes run to 60s rock having attended the original Woodstock festival.
