  1. Good luck, that is at least a good start to what is hopefully a positive result.
  2. Sorry about the paywall; I somehow managed to get the article without the paywall. Actually, I got it though google.
  3. Luxury cruise liner’s launch delayed as dozens of ships face potential safety hazard | Financial Times (ft.com) And note the fire panels that no longer meet certification are already on other ships.
  4. That's what it should be, but the key now seems to be cutting costs and nothing else. 😒
  5. Please detail how you would have the crew simulate moving thousands of passengers all at the same time to their muster stations.
  6. If training matters so little, why do firefighters train constantly? Why does the military believe in training? The training needed is for the crew to handle the passengers in a real emergency.
  7. On our itinerary, London (Southampton) to Reykjavik, there is not even the token free excursion.
  8. Except that mostly the ships have got bigger, not smaller, I agree with you.
  9. Give me that old time religion. Give me that old time rock and roll. And give me a cruise that does not need a smartphone!!!!!!!!
  10. The important word in your post is prearranged! Also, it might have made a difference that they were Canadians disembarking in Canada.
  11. Yes, it is definitely good when someone posts a problem and asks for help and then does a follow up on how it worked out. Too many post, and then disappear.
  12. LOL, I once did two cruise line excursions on Carnival, and wrote reviews for both. One was a glowing review, while the other totally panned the excursion. One got printed; the other one "did not meet their standards". I think you can probably guess which got printed, and which one did not.
  13. I assume you meant to write uninformed, not uniformed. Let's be honest. Whichever muster drill they do, some passengers will be able to perform in a real muster while others will be in a panic. But, IMHO, what really will be needed is crew members who can perform their duties and get passengers to do what they must. And for this the training in a real old fashioned muster drill with real passengers would seem to be a necessity.
  14. So, it is not just our cruise where there are always ZERO reviews for the excursions offered by NCL🤦‍♂️.
  15. It is the joy of winning (without cheating), not the ship on a stick itself. Though it is a nice reminder.
  16. In an earlier post, you praised the training of the crew in regards to man overboard drills. But you do not seem to think that the training of actually working with herding all the passengers at the same time matters. It is the crew that really needs to be trained. You fixate on the passengers being prepared, but as has been said by @chengkp75, their job at muster as to show up and shut up. In a real emergency situation, it would be the crew who would have to act professionally and get the pssengers to do whatever is necessary.
  17. LOL, so sometimes crew training is fabulous (se your post #106) and other times it is not necessary.. That seems to be your position.
  18. That begs the question do you think crew training "herding" passengers for the real muster drill would also be something that pays off.
  19. 👍 for both the fun squad and the non-cheaters.
  20. Most advice I have seen about Viator is to try to find the real operator and skip the middleman. That does seem to make sense.
  21. I once started a thread pointing this out, and was really criticized for it. Someone even said I provided no proof, even though I gave an example and did the math. (Someone else did quote the I gave no proof and did point out that I had done the math.)
  22. On our cruise London (Southampton) to Reykjavik, there are no excursions at $50 or less.
  23. I think he was joking, probably could have put an emoji there to make sure everyone understood that he was joking.
  24. When you write "and trained in man overboard scenarios", can we take that as the crew actually has some man overboard drills?
