  1. What was so special about that one port out of 9 that made the 2 of you get off the ship? 😃
  2. I was wondering it there was a charge. I suppose they justify it as a charge for copying the data. Thanks for your quick reply.
  3. Yes, sometimes the serendipity factor kicks in and you discover something unique. But still you should plan ahead.
  4. Yes, it is not normally a tender port. Reread my post you quoted and you will see that we only tendered because there was one more ships in port than docks and we were the unlucky one to tender.
  5. A TA works for you; a travel consultant for a cruise line works for the cruise line. The cruise lines definitely want to keep TAs in business. If they did not, they would reduce or eliminate the commissions paid like the airlines have done. One hint, call TAs for quotes rather than go by what is listed on their websites. Often they are not allowed to post their discounted prices. As an example, we once found 3 cruises on our TA's website that met our time frame and itinerary needs for an Alaskan cruise. The Princess ship we ended up sailing on was listed as the most expensive, but ended up after he discounted it, the least expensive.
  6. How long has it been now since you made that FOIL request?
  7. I am assuming that all the cruise lines including HAL do not want to reinstate mask mandates on a ship, especially when passengers boarded knowing there was no mandate in place. The only time they do reinstate mandates is when there is a breakout. And that is really when they MUST find a way to enforce it. JMHO.
  8. The key words there are "FOR NOW". That gives them wiggle room to cancel. For the sake of those who are booked and planning to sail on 6/11, I hope everything works out and they do get to sail.
  9. Thank you, that's what I thought as we have never on any cruise excursion on several different lines had our names checked off of the excursion ticket.
  10. I had 2 questions, and maybe one of them could be answered here as well as there, but no way on the other one. The one that could possibly be answered either place is when is the first Prima cruise now scheduled. (We are booked for the summer of 2023 and would love to start reading reviews.) The other that there is now way anyone hear could answer is how many lattitude points DW and I have. In addition to that booked Prima cruise, we had 2 other NCL cruises a Bermuda cruise from NYC and a Western Mediterranean that for some reason I remember we were given extra points. Care to answer that?
  11. Yes, going by my wife's experience earlier this year in an emergency room, the bill would be astronomical. But then the insurance company would pay a much lower agreed amount that they have negotiated and you would pay your co-pay.
  12. re: the "free" shore excursions. Travelling with DW, I know I am the primary name and get the "free" excursion. But what if I stay on the ship and she does an excursion, can she then use it? Also can I get a "free" excursion at the same port both in the morning and the afternoon?
  13. I don't think there is a need for enforcement when something is recommended, but when it changes to REQUIRED, that is when there is a need for enforcement. Presumably, there is a reason it becomes required instead of recommended. If no enforcement, is there any way to actually say and mean it is REQUIRED?
  14. I tried it maybe 15 minutes ago, sometime between 1:30 and 1:40 Eastern time, and it said unavailable. come back when they are open.
  15. A map story from an Eastern Mediterranean cruise we did on HAL many years ago. When in Santorini, we got LOST. We stumbled upon a museum in a cave. We decided to go in. There was a tour and the guide gave it in English for us and in Greek for the other couple doing the tour. After we were done, we showed the guide our map, and asked where we were on the map. He looked and laughed and said we were off the map. He asked if we had a car, and when we said no he unsuccessfully tried to get us a cab. He did then show us a shortcut back to where the map showed.
  16. And they also advertise free excursions. They are only free if they are $50 or less.
  17. We never had that problem getting our TA to do a price adjustment.
  18. I think we do know how Princess would feel if they were the ones not being paid until 14 days prior. 🤣
  19. But it is one more cabin providing revenue on that future cruise. And there still is a possibility of a last minute booking on the current cruise.
  20. Is there anything more contradictory than a mandatory policy that is not enforced? Someone in authority on the ship should be blamed for that?
  21. And even then a list might not be totally accurate. Corfu is not a tender port normally, but when we were there on a HAL Eastern Mediterranean cruise, there were 3 ships and 2 docks. Our ship ended up being the ship that had to tender.
  22. I don't understand why this precludes you from using a TA. We have had the same experience of obtaining price reductions with no problem from our TA. One cruise even had multiple drops and an upgrade. We were also warned once when asking for a price drop that a change in terms meant we would have to immediately pay a higher deposit. (Whch we did because the price drop was well worth it.)
  23. And the OP wanted to go instead a few weeks later. They would have got their onboard revenue then. Now they lost that, and the OP does not get to cruise. A true lose/lose outcome.
  24. I don't think marking do not upgrade can stop them if they really want to change your cabin. The cruise contract you must sign gives them that right.
