  1. I thought when I first started getting interested (after my Feb cruise on the Joy) there was a promo running at that time for the 2nd person. It wasnt 2nd person free, more like either 50% off or maybe 75% off. It wasnt 2nd person *flies* free. I remember it gave me a discount on my cabin as a solo in an inside cabin. I was going to ask how often they run that but I dont see it on the list. It made a difference in the total fare for me
  2. The passengers on the Joy in February didnt seem to be the type that would do that. Lots of families and older people. I agree that type of behavior is disgusting. Is there an equivalent of the airline's "No Fly List" Another option is to go to bed before midnight. Or at least retreat to your cabin.
  3. I was on the Joy this past February, it was fairly full and I dont recall seeing anyone drinking excessively to the point of being drunk.
  4. Yes, they should take out travel insurance because $50,000 for a lifetime limit is not enough The cost to move you to a hospital closer to your home would use up a lot of that. Air Flights are very expensive. It was close to $100,000 to fly my daughter a distance that would take about 3 hrs to drive. But that was the US Still, air flights anywhere are expensive.
  5. I guess that's why people take out big travel insurance plans if they have a lot to lose if hit by a huge medical expense
  6. You're eligible for medicare at age 65 so there's a few years left for travel. Some people on here cruise frequently.
  7. Yes, they do if they have chronic issue $50,000 is a *lifetime* limit Some people have posted on here that they get way more than that for medical insurance traveling internationally
  8. I think most of the Advantage plans have some kind of coverage outside the US. With original medicare, your supplemental plan covers. But there is a limit, I know mine has a $50,000 lifetime limit which is laughable.
  9. Thank you. I havent booked yet but its # 1 on my list. I think its a good idea to go early and would love to see the Kennedy Space Center. I'm thinking maybe make my own way to the ship (since there are many options to get to Florida) and use NCL Air to return home from Rome. (if that's allowed, I cant see why not)
  10. yikes, I would be livid. Starting to think twice about using the Air Fare promo now.
  11. they would really have your arrive that close to the time you need to board? That is awful. The red eye isnt as bad, at least you wouldnt be late. Probably a good idea to ask for a diversion.
  12. Thanks for all the great advice. I remember how nervous I was back in 2013 trying to arrange my transport from the dock at Southampton to London. I was going to St Pancras station because I was taking a train north. I reserved a bus to Victoria Station, then was going to switch there to go to St Pancras. I cant remember exactly I think there were at least 3 connections, with a suitcase. My TA was useless arranging transport. Fellow passengers told me about the Cunard transport service. I had no hesitation paying $75 for the bus ride to St Pancras. I just forfeited the bus ticket I had reserved. It was cheap. Making these arrangements now isnt as scary. I really like that website "Rome 2 Rio"
  13. Thanks for the details, sounds doable. I've never used Uber. Something about it doesnt appeal to me, not sure what.
  14. Since I live on the East Coast there probably (ha ha) isnt too much they could do except maybe make me sit in the airport until 10pm. Surely if they put you on connecting fights there is some wiggle room for short delays. i.e. I hope they dont give you 40 minutes to connect to your next flight. The savings can be substantial. But I see your point. I think deviating your flight might be a good idea and arrive a day early. It would be wise to do that even if you are arranging your own transportation because there can always be delays.
  15. Do you mean that if you actually inquired that they could give you a lower price?
  16. I think he was assuming that I wouldnt know everything to get the best price. I didnt take it to mean he was going to save me bundles. the form does a fairly good job but there's the erorr where it lets you put in two CN certificates (but not a third!) I took a note of his number and I will call him when I decide I am ready to take the plunge.
  17. I looked at some of those other cruise sites. They seemed to be the same general price. They do offer extras but when I looked at the details something else was missing so I'm not sure if the extras are really extras. I dont know about independent Travel Agents
  18. I found a cruise that appeals to me April 24. It is on the Epic, leaving from Orlando (Cape Canaveral) to Rome, through Gibraltor and the Azores. I chose the Epic because i want to try a studio and since I will be the only one in the room, the strange bathroom configuration (if its that way in the Studio) wont be an issue. I havent booked yet but if I do will probably include the Air Fare promotion. I notice there is about $110 in charges for "ground transportation". I am assuming this means connections from the airport in Orlando to the dock and the reverse at the other end in Rome? I think I will incude the Air Fare promotion (whenever its available) in ports/airports I am not familiar with and then learn to make my own way for any future trips. But I'm curious- is there anything quirky about getting from Orlando to the dock? Rome dock to airport?
  19. I know many of the people on this forum have their own personal travel agent. For those who use NCL's booking services do you use the online form or connect with a PCC? I was asking questions on the chat form yesterday and the person who answered me kept saying he could book me and save me money. Other than sure, its nice if he can save me money but are there other reasons to use an NCL PCC rather than filling out the form on the website? The reason I got on the chat was to find out if it was true that I had to call NCL to get the 50% discount for the Air Fare Promotion since I am a solo traveler. He eventually answered yes.
  20. I just chatted with a PCC on the website. I pointed out that while booking you are allowed to apply two CF certificates to your booking but the terms and conditions specify only one is allowed. She said that only one is allowed and the website will have to be corrected. So that's that
  21. I dont know enough about the various promotions, cant say
  22. That makes sense but I just wanted to be sure
  23. I am sooooo sorry. I was thinking CruiseFIRST and wrote CruiseNEXT. So my question really is can I do what I wrote in my first post with a CruiseFIRST certificate. Thank you for your patience.
  24. Can I apply a CN Certificate after I first book but before Final Payment is due? If I'm booking a cruise in April 2024 for example I may want to book a cruise on a whim before that day. So I wouldnt want my CN certificate allotted for that April cruise. My thoughts are yes, I can but not sure which is why I'm asking.
