  1. Oh, okay, I think I will rethink my choices lol. I guess its cheap for a reason
  2. Someone wrote that he would not book a voyage on a ship going to drydock or returning. I can understand what he wrote about the return but what would be the negatives on the voyage to? Would many activities be cancelled? I would think the crew would be in a good mood . Dont they go on vacation when the ship is in drydock? I'm looking at the joy on Jan 11 '24 mainly because of all the sea days.
  3. Someone played the piano in the area between the two main dining rooms
  4. I was on the Joy this past February and we found the OL got crowded enough in the afternoon to make it necessary to search for a chair, especially one with a view. But I think it may have been school vacation week, there were quite a few kids on board. Not a problem though. I dont think the OL is a favorite for the young passengers. They have a small spread of food there that was nice, especially at breakfast when the OL was quieter. Plus the bar. I think Starbucks was there also?
  5. I dont think rough seas on a TA necessarily means cabin noise. We had a rough night in January on a TA and there was no unusual cabin noise. My cabin did have a noise when I first got there, sounded like a toilet flushing in the wall. I thought to myself "this could be a problem" Either it stopped or I managed to block it out because I dont remember it continuing My cabin was aft and someone told me what the noise probably was, i forget, To me it sounded like a toilet flushing.
  6. after reading the reviews I think I would enjoy a cruise on the Dawn. What other ships in the NCL fleet would be similar? I dont really need the arcade/water slides type of amenities. What does it mean by the "class" the ship is in?
  7. What about those of us who are neither (I cant be the only one) I dont spend in the :Casino and I dont spend on accommodations. (inside room) I should add that I was a guest of a CAS passenger. The only thing on my tab at the end of the cruise i took on the Joy to Mexico last February was the tax on the drink I had before the ship left LA. It was so little I never was charged. And I had a marvelous time. The drink package, good food, the beautiful ocean, people to watch..... oh yeah, I did go on two excursions because my travel partner wanted to, if I were alone I wouldnt have. I loved the OP's story but got a little turned off by the references to checking what he spends. I know that's true, that he is more valuable to the line than I am but I dont like to be reminded.
  8. I was on the Joy this past February to Mexico and my experience was similar to yours (without the 5 yr old so have no experience with childrens activities) We were never able to find the Miniature golf course lol. We could have asked but never did. There was plenty to do. Too cold to do water activities. One disappointment was that FootLoose got cancelled halfway through the cruise due to one of the cast having an injury. We were only two in the cabin so didnt really care when the room got straightened. In fact a couple of days we asked her not to bother, just empty the trash and supply clean towels. I thought the food was great. We ate mostly in Taste and Savor. Somes the buffet for breakfast but it got very crowded depending on the time. We also found they served a small breakfast up on the Observation Deck. I'm trying to plan another one on the Joy but the planning is exhausting. In February my son in law did all the planning and asked me to join him as his wife refused due to Covid. I thought it was going to feel really ackward sharing a cabin with my (young) son in law but it wasnt at all.
  9. So the Joy is only doing these two TAs to get to Europe and back from a dry dock?
  10. I did a TA on Cunard in January and it was wonderful. It all depends on what you want out of the trip I guess. The ocean in January was beautiful. Seas were not that rough except for one night. A little rough is okay with me, after all you are in the middle of the ocean. The ship was not crowded. I was traveling solo. Loved it.
  11. ok, I believe you! No Prima for me but I probably wouldnt have chosen it anyway. Part of the precruise excitement for me is visualizing in my head before; the cruise. Cant do that if I havent experienced the layout. I also dont care that much about the destination either. I mostly go by the in port/sea day ratio. And when you travel mostly solo the cabin doesnt mean anything to me either, except to sleep. no happy hours etc.
  12. Yeah, I've had plenty of voice mails from PCC's lol. Also reminders to finish my booking. i'm going to be more careful in the future. I dont mind the voice mails or the emails which I just delete but I dont want my rewards etc messed up.
  13. I'm assuming that the size of areas on the ship are accurate. I'm probably a "boring" cruiser. I had a history of sailing only Cunard and then someone convinced me to join him on NCL's Joy Wow, I had a great time (except for the disembarkation chaos ) Now I only want to sail on the Joy. I could be convinced to try one of NCL;s ships with solo cabins. Its the same in restaurants. If I have a favorite restaurant and I really like what I chose to eat there I will always choose the same thing. So, the Prima probably wouldnt have interested me anyway. I dont like feeling crowded so that's good to know. My voyage on the Joy seemed packed. In fact, a few times they had to close the buffet because it was too crowded but we usually ate at the main dining rooms The noise can happen on any ship with certain cabins.
  14. Well, Prima is at the bottom of my list now. Doesnt sound enjoyable even without the noise overhead
  15. Its possible there were times when I didnt log in but I still think its ridiculous. In the future, I will always log in.
  16. UPDATE: I called NCL. They had a different latitude rewards # for me. The woman said that everytime you start to register for a cruise (I do this to get price information) and you dont put in your number it will give you a new number. I find that hard to believe but that is what she said. Then I had log in problems after she merged them. She transferred me to another person who helped me with that. I am all set, everything is where it should be.
  17. Yes, everything is correct in my profile. I know I saw the CruiseFirst certificates not too long after I bought them. I am going to call NCL tomorrow.
  18. I dont see "My Coupons and Credits". I do see that "Plan a Cruise" box but nothing under it.
  19. Where are these stored? I read they are in the Latitude Rewards section. I have purchased two certificates and I cant find them anymore. I have seen them in the past. I also was on one cruise in February but no reccord I can find. TIA
  20. OP here, Thank you for your responses!
  21. Thats's what I meant, I just didnt write it all out. It would be applied at the end. A single traveling alone would have no need for a discounted 2nd person so that using the certificate would be worthwhile. When there is a discounted second person you have to figure out what gives the greater savings.
  22. ok thanks. I guess I would have to figure out which is better- using the certificate and not using "2nd person discounted" or the other way around. Keeping in mind the certificates have an expiration date. That really limits the positives of the CruiseFirst certificates. After all, two people bought the certificates, its not like one person bought both certificates and trying to use them on different people. I;m sure the majority of people reserve along with another person in one cabin rather than each of them in separate cabins. It might be worthwhile to use it on one person in the cabin with a single supplement.
  23. There is a current offer going on where 2nd person flies free. How does this work if the two people live in different areas of the country? i.e. One lives in Los Angeles and the other in New England. I'm looking at a TA that leaves from Miami to Southhampton. How do they decide who the second person is? Does the deal even include a situation like this?
  24. Where can i find my Cruise First Certificates? I think I read that they are kept in Latitudes Rewards. I've taken one cruise and my Latitudes Rewards has "no cruise history" and nothing else in it I know at one time i saw my two CruiseFirst certificates.
