  1. I dont see an answer to this question. I have the same question. I know it says that only one certificate can be used per reservation. That must mean one per person on the reservation. So if I take advantage of the current offer where the 2nd person is discounted, that person can use a certificate and I can use a certificate to apply to the grand total. Is that correct?
  2. The 92 cents was tax on a drink while still in San Pedro.
  3. I spent 92 cents on the Joy's 5 day cruise to Mexico. My credit card was never charged, maybe because it was so low. So I would be a disappointment to FDR.
  4. I agree, the Observation Lounge on the Joy was great although it did get a bit crowded at times making it hard to find a seat mid day. But if you waited one usually became available. Weather outside wasnt the greatest so that could be why. But with bathrooms nearby, a bar and food, it was very comfortable.
  5. Does NCL run buses to the various transportation hubs like Heathrow etc? In 2013 I had figured out which bus and subway I needed to get to St Pancreas station in London from Southampton. It was going to be a complicated route. On the ship (Cunard) another passenger told me just to book the Cunard bus which goes right to the station. (other buses went to the airports) I think it was $75 So I forfeited my bus ticket (which was very much cheaper) and took the Cunard bus (which was so much easier) I would think NCL would do the same? But if it doesnt, you can make your own way with a little research (I even bought the bus ticket in the US online). I know this doesnt have to do with your question but I was amazed how easy it was to make connections. I was going to St Pancreas to get a train going north to the Midlands. I bought the ticket online in the U.S. When I got to the station I punched a code/password into the ticket kiosk and out popped my train ticket.
  6. I was on a TA in January back in 2013 (not NCL but Cunard) Maybe I was lucky but the weather was not a problem. Properly dressed it wasnt too cold out on the decks. One morning it snowed The ocean is beautiful in the middle of winter. We had one rocky overnight but that was it. Probably not sitting out on the balcony type of weather though.
  7. Thanks for asking this question! I wanted to know also
  8. Wow, I am really old. No one is remembering as far back as I have
  9. Oops, I just realized even if you are "purchasing" a drink (in other words, no drinks package) you still hand over your cruise card and the charge for the drink is put on that. So I guess no slips. never saw any
  10. I had the drinks package so no slip. Maybe someone who is purchasing a drink gets one? I dont think I saw anyone purchasing a drink. Seemed like everyone was handing over their cruise card.
  11. Right, there was no link. I know never to click on a link in an email I think people are getting more and more paranoid these days.
  12. the Queen Mary was probably much older (since I dont know the Norway) although some staterooms had private bathrooms. She was retired about 2 or 3 years after I sailed in 1966
  13. THis is really getting out of hand. People are discussing (arguing?) points that I (the OP) never made. NCL is not my PCC because I am not booking a cruise yet. The email from them was telling me that the charge for my CruiseFirst certificate that I tried to purchase (which I did, nothing phoney about that) had been declined and if I wanted the certificate I'd have to supply another form of payment. That's all it was. The only reason I even brought it up in my post was because it added to the confusion. (thus the title of my post) I should add that I didnt give them another form of payment. I just put the purchase through again and it worked.
  14. It seems to be fine now. The only reason I told NCL was because my purchase for an NCL CruiseFirst certificate was declined. Its been fixed and I have my certificate on my account plus other charges are going through normally
  15. I dont think they were outrageously expensive. My mother would never have paid anything she considered too "dear"(scottish for expensive)
  16. make your email address part of your signature
  17. I agree with you and believe it was 100% legit.
  18. That depends on how you live at home. I find the cabin bathrooms luxurious lol (and I have to say that the Joy had a much nicer bathroom that the QM2) and anyone who serves me dinner and calls me "madam" makes me feel pretty special
  19. When was this? Because in 1966 in tourist class dressing differently for dinner wasnt the norm.
  20. I know the SS United States has a history and I respect that but compared to passenger ships at the time she was quite plain. After my trip on the Cunarders at 16 I became a ship "groupie" and visited the different liners when they docked in NYC. Most were elegant with plenty of brass and red carpets. I remember when the Hamburg came on the scene- absolutely stunning. And then the QE2, another beauty. But the SS United States had linoleum floors and lots of chrome. Of course, that style now is vintage but in the 1960's it was just old.
  21. In tourist class in the 1960's we didnt "dress" for dinner. Back then people tended to dress better in general but no formal attire. I was 16 and remember I wore mostly dresses routinely. (we had to for school)
  22. But there were the classes. First Class dining room was elegant even on a small ship like the Sylvania (Cunard)
  23. Some people like dark. That's why they use sleep masks to achieve that. On my recent trip I slept much later in the morning (not late, just later) in my inside cabin. A window or balcony would be nice too. I really want to try a studio. To me, that seems like luxury
