  1. I dont care where they put me on the plane (as long as the fare charged is reasonable compared to what I would have paid had I done it myself) as long as I get to where I'm going in time to make the boat.
  2. I just want to know how it works. Since the two people are traveling together it wouldnt be a concern who is charged and who isnt. That would be between the two people. I learned on the website that the person who is charged is the one who the reservation is under. Someone in another comment above said it even works for her who regularly travels with someone coming from a different part of the country. In that case I guess it would be better to put the reservation under the person with the lower flight costs? I also learned that in the case of a solo traveler, that person is charged 50% of the airfare.
  3. Thank you. I asked this question in the past (how does it work when 1 person in the party is coming from one city and the other is coming from another) No one had an answer.
  4. I couldnt find the answer I am looking for. So let's say this is the BOGO offer. So do they charge passenger #1 for Boston to Miami and then Southhampton back to Boston? and passenger #2 is free for those same flights ? i understand how it would work when you leave from and come back to the same port. Can you choose the Air promotion and then remove it as long as its done before final payment? I realize this decision would be made before they notified you of your flights. Maybe you changed your mind or found a flight you really liked
  5. I have searched this forum and the NCL website and still have questions about NCL Air. How does this work? I'll give a simple example 2 passengers live in eastern Massachusetts and want to book a TA which leaves from Miami and arrives in Southhampton. so each of them would need a flight to Miami to get on the ship and a flight home from Southhampton. How does this work? Thanks
  6. That is probably the case but they really should specity. Although I just read all the terms and conditions and it said that cruise first ceertificates can not be combined with .... they list a few offers that include CF. How can I remove that attachment? Not sure its a good idea to have my numbers there. I thought I removed it but apparently not. Weird, the correct attachment is there now.
  7. You will see I also corrected myself saying that they could credit your account by the amount of the certificate they rejected.
  8. Okay. But if they are going to remove one, since only one is allowed, it has to happen before the charge is made to your card. they cant charge you a price that includes both certificates and then say oops sorry, your fare is really $500 more. Unless they then credit your account. That's fair. I also think they could program it so you can only make one choice of certificate. Not a computer expert but I dont think that would be too difficult.
  9. ok, I decided to take a chance on the TA on the Joy Jan 2024. Since sea days are my first priority I will get sea days with this one! I dont care much about entertainment as long as there is some. I dont want to have to climb over piles of lumber or only have one dining room to choose from. I dont require a lot of attention from staff so I wont notice if half are missing. So I did a mock booking to see what my final cost would be for one traveler in an inside cabin. Now to the point of this post- I was able to apply two CruiseFirst certificates. The $300 one and the $500 one This reduced my final bill quite a bit. So it cant be true that it is 1 certificate per reservation allowed. Since the room holds 2 people they must allow for two certificates to be used. I understood when people were insisting- only 1 certificate per reservation but that's not how it turned out. Any explanations?
  10. Fun! I like Mr Washy washy on the Joy (they probably rotate as that job would get tiring I'm sure)
  11. One problem is that hand sanitizer is not that effective (I've been told not at all effective) for the norovirus which is the greater threat on cruises Hand washing with soap and water is the preferred prevention. I agree with you though, not if they dont do it. This, along with other reasons, is why some people dont use the buffet. I was on the Queen Mary in 2013 right after a voyage in which half the crew and many passengers came down with norovirus. On my voyage right after that one you couldnt get past the crew member at the door to the buffet squirting hand gel onto your hands. They were constantly wiping down handrails and other frequently touched by many objects. According to the experts, not effective but I guess better than nothing. They asked passengers to use the bathrooms in their cabins instead of in public areas.
  12. I was on the Joy this past February and my experience was somewhat similar to that of the OP. The only thing I didnt like was that we didnt know we could book entertainment ahead of sailing and when we tried to do so on board, most options were filled. We did get into Footloose but never saw it because mid voyage it was cancelled due to a cast injury. Not seeing all the entertainment was disappointing but didnt make us miserable. There was plenty to do. I think the ship was fairly full yet I never felt crowded. Once or twice they had to redirect the passengers going into the buffet because capacity limit had been reached. I think they directed them to the American Diner where they had a buffet. Didnt effect us because we are up early. The The weather was cool so the pool deck was half empty most of the time, therefore no chair hogs You had your pick of chairs! I only saw a few young men doing the water slides anytime I watched. I wasnt aware of anyone smoking. Yes, we were delayed getting into our cabins but I didnt really care. My travel partner didnt get his luggage until almost bedtime. I thought embarkation was bad but disembarkation was a nighmare. I saw people sitting in the atrium while the line snaked back and forth. I'm wonder if they catch the line at the end. I think we were in the arcade for at least a half hour which was annoying. (the music) Couldnt get into the Manhattan Room for dinner because we didnt want to wait. Most of the time Savor and Taste was only a short wait. If this is important to you, get there early. The specialty restaurant we choose was La Cucina which was nice. A friend suggested to my travel partner that he just had to order some special dish (I forget the name), it was outstanding. Well he did and i dont think he cared for it much. my choice was great. We spent a lot of time in the OL and I'm disappointed that it is rumored they will take away some space for more cabins. Do they really need more cabins? Yes, the elevators were a source of irritation. No one playing around with them, just a lot of people waiting. Take the stairs if you can! Between the meals, the drinks package, and all the diversity of the passengers, I was satisfied. But I think I will try one of the smaller liners next time. btw, I did a solo meet and greet on another line back in 2013 and it was poorly attended also.
  13. Do they all sing the same song? When we were disembarking from the Joy in February, waiting on the long lines that inched forward, Mr Washy Washy was there, posing for pictures with some of the ladies. I think he should have been entertaining us!
  14. Thank you everyone for convincing me that pre and post Dry Docks are probably not a good idea lol Did you know ahead of time your voyage was a pre dry dock run? I sure hope they tell anyone booking
  15. I dont know about the hot tub in Spice H2O but there were a few people in each hot tub on the pool deck on the Joy. Dont care for the idea of getting in a relatively small tub with hot water and strangers. The situation I was describing with the dome over the pool was not NCL, it was the Queen Mary.
  16. but why would they sail to England, drop off the passengers, then go to the Bahamas, then sail back to England, pick up new passengers and then sail to NY
  17. I spent 7 days at sea in January and wasnt cold at all. (I'm assuming that's why you like the thermal spa) In fact, the pool was open. They pull down a dome over it. It was a great voyage.
  18. They will have passengers going over to Southampton and coming back from Southampton. In between they will go to Grand Bahamas for the drydock. That doesnt make sense
  19. I checked the link provided for dry dock schedules. The Joy is on it Jan-Feb 2024. However, it looks like the dry dock is in Grand Bahamas. Why would the ship sail from NY to Southampton (TA) , then go to Grand Bahamas for the drydock repairs, then in February sail back to Southampton and then TA to New York. Seems kind of weird. Is "Grand Bahama" the same as the "Bahamas"?
  20. Oooooh, not good. Do they tell the passengers when they book?
  21. The Joy is sailing East on 1/11/24 from New York to Southampton and from Southampton to New York about a month later. Someone said in a post she was going to drydock. Is that correct? I dont think there is anything in between the two dates
