Now that we are on board, here are today’s Fun Times…..

Our plan now is to check-in at our muster station (C7), drop off our carry-on bags at our cabin, and then head back to Big Chicken and the Tides Bar. Pat & Jim would do the same and meet us back there. Patti and I have grabbed our lunch…..

It wasn’t very long before Megan (MeganGC1983), and Brian (Mr. Megan), joined us…..

Patti is having her very first Cheers drink…..

Sid (sid_9169) joined us, and soon the first “bar” picture of the cruise was taken. That’s Sid, me, Megan, Jim, & Pat..….

    IMG_1983-XL.jpg

Jim is keeping track of Patti’s drinks for “Cheers” purposes…..

    IMG_1982-XL.jpg

Patti heads up to Deck 17 aft to begin her picture tour. The rest of us move over to the Red Frog Tiki Bar to continue our drinking. Here are the Grandeur OTS and the Scarlet Lady…..

    To be continued…..

Maybe it's a good thing I wasn't there. Then you would have had a Patti, a Pat, and a Pattie. I guess we could always have blamed another Patti, Pat, Pattie for shenanigans we did not want to own up to. We could just blame it on a typo! Yeah. That's the ticket!

    Hello all!

Reading Jeff's review, and he said "all are welcome"... is that true? Can I become part of the Tribe? If so..."Hi, my name is Stephanie and I am a cruiseaholic. I'm afraid there is no cure for this disease, only the ability to keep it under control by taking as many cruises as I can per year."

Sid, I am a fellow tequilla fan, what is this good bottle you speak of for the weekend? I keep a bottle of Cristalino 1800 and a bottle of Herradura Ultra on hand at all times.

    Welcome! Jump in and enjoy.

You could put an AirTag on them but that might look kinda silly haha. I keep one in my wallet. Not because I lose it but in case it ever gets stolen.

I actually found one for glasses--it took awhile, but I did! It's a company I have bought from before--they have odd and different things, all good quality (which I bought for Christmas/BD gifts for Dad his last few years), Since there was nothing he "needed" and he had no interest in el toro poo-poo items just for a laugh, I had to really search.

Now I have to think about if I really want to pay $49.95 to be able to find my darn glasses several times a day. Which annoys me just so much! I guess I kind of answered my own question...Better QOL for $50+ ... or daily aggravation...at myself.

Hmmm. I think I probably will get them. We'll see. Since I just started my martini it's prolly pretty much a done deal.

You need to get a Tile sticker.  They are made to attach to remotes, bikes, etc.  Then with a phone app you can track it.

Hmmm. That sounds good. I was thinking I wish there was a way to link my glasses with my Apple items, lol. The thing I need is for the glasses to make a signal, which is what my i-Phone, i-Pad, etc do. My lost item is always in my apartment, but I need to know where. I will look into this though--thanks!

Ever look for your glasses and suddenly realize they’re on your head ? 😂

I don't wear them on my head ... but I did once finally find them on my face! I was wearing them and looking for the. Not my proudest moment...

I keep having this recurring nightmare that the Gkids came over and hid my reading glasses and then left me a note in tiny print telling me where they hid them...

What kind of fresh heck would that be?

OMG, too funny. I would be on an endless walk going room to room looking for my glasses, my iPad, my iPhone. Recently the TV remote has joined the others as I sometimes (while off on my usual "on to something else" mind trips) think it's my phone. Mr Greenpea does not like THAT part. The rest he is used to. But the TV remote--that makes him have to send me on an endless walk until I finally find it.

Oooo-kay Tribe, I have a really different kind of question. Serious stuff.

We are cruising (I hope) in May. There’s a whole lot to unpack with the situation but the short of it is that this will likely be our first Friends of Bill W. Cruise.

Does anyone see a point or value add in someone doing a review that is the polar opposite of all the festive, luscious cocktail photos and instead addresses the issue - right in the review - of being a passenger enjoying the voyage to the max while managing their own personal H E double hockey sticks?

I am talking not just about one casual mention of being non drinkers but rather about including in the review title: Friends of Bill W. Cruise. To actually let readers know the score right off the bat. It’s not a secret what that means; it’s totally instantly accurately google-able. And I am pretty anonymous, here on CC, being a curated, avatar-like version of the real person behind Kmom. I was even thinking about creating a second, new, more mysterious and more anonymous account just for this review.

Or is it just too cringe, keep that dirty laundry in the closet where it belongs, nobody wants to stowaway on that boring and depressing journey?

If I do it, do I post the review with all the rest of that cruise line’s reviews, or at the Friends of Bill W forum here, which seems mostly to notify fellow passengers that someone plans to actively attend meetings on a specific sailing in advance?

As the supporter in this relationship, I am seeking to de stigmatize and honestly evaluate the rewards (hopefully) and challenges myself of the experience, but could just as easily keep my big fat mouth shut about the whole darn thing.

Apologies if this is just too much and/or the wrong place or wrong group to discuss.

I think that would be useful. Not just for you guys but for others. Do it! I think it's a wonderful idea.

    🙄🙄🙄 old people...

I can't even read the oven buttons without mine, it's stupid. I keep pushing the "self-clean" button then frantically try and stop that but can't find THAT button either.

  9. Yeah, so 1:19 was not cocktail hour in my mind. Apparently 3:19 is though! Asked Mr. Greenpea if he wanted a martini. "Nope", he said. "Not for another hour. "OK" I said cheerfully, I'm makin' a marTEENie!

    Pause

"OK, I want one too," he said. Now THAT's my guy.

  10. Boring busy Sunday here--prepping for tax time, doing laundry, reorganizing our laundry/extra supplies room, taking care of some (unpaid) work organizational needs for the new year.

Already checking the clock to see if it is cocktail hour and NOPE. Not yet. 😞

well I'm officially Switzerland in this debate over cats or dogs- I have 2 of each! and yes, both have their pros & cons... my cats never climb on my counters or tables, they are not anywhere that food is. Now my dogs have perfected begging for human food and counter-surfing occasionally! but never mind I love them all... but like others have said, it makes traveling a real challenge so DH & I are firmly in agreement that these 4 are our last... unfortunately for my cruising future, we tend to have really long-lived dogs and cats... my last 2 dogs lived to be 14, even though they were both big dogs (over 100lbs) and both my cats were 17! Doesn't look like I'll be free to cruise anywhere but out of Galveston for at least 10 years (DD lives in Austin and dog-sits for us)!

Pictures just for the 'awwwh' factor!

Gotta keep the cruise line viable into the future. Us old folks only have a few more years of contributing to NCL’s bottom line.

Need to hook the middle age folks (target those with enough money to generate a consistent revenue stream vs one-off booze cruise kids). = contemporary cruiser.

Sadly, I know what you are talking about!

If everyone gets the discount is it really a discount or did they just price it 10% over intended selling price?

That is kinda like the NCL 50% off promo. (Where the cruise prices are twice as expensive as before the "special" pricing! )

    I appreciate your help.

From booking - it doesn't specify pier..and from

    this link

    https://voyagerinfo.com/cruise-faqs/where-does-norwegian-cruise-leave-from-in-new-york/

I am uncertain how to know which pier (s) NCL sails from.

Have sailed NCL for years out of NY--until 3 years ago when I moved out of the area. It was always Pier 88 but I have since heard that sometimes it is a different one now, Very strange that your documents don't list it, I would be concerned, too!!

I won't hold it against you for having a cat. I just probably won't eat anything that came out of your kitchen. 😂

I did actually have a cat when I lived in my first apartment. Because I couldn't have a dog. That was also when I learned I was allergic to cats.

I actually have never had a kitty jump on my kitchen counter--sounds like I have been lucky! That would be a bit icky. But never had one hump my leg, either...guess there are downsides to both critters! But I do lubs me my critters, though. As a kid I had a German Shepard (Mikey, my eternal love), a Golden Retriever, hamsters, fish, even a turtle. Oh, and a parakeet we found sitting in the maple tree in front of my childhood home one summer day!

Can't believe you have a horse! They are so beautiful. Typical little-girl horse love that has stayed with me through my life, I've ridden them a number of times (when I was younger), even took English riding lessons (which I really really liked--the posting sure saves a girl from girly discomfort, But horses have always  also kind of intimidated me when I am not sitting on them. Lucky you!

  16. Sitting here with a martini, then realized it's just after 2:30 in the afternoon. Since I have been dealing with two hours of tax gathering crap, it felt like 5;00 at least! (The only down side of being self-employed--HATE tax time. Ugh)

*ducks for cover from the cat people*

(Also not a cat person, not down with an animal that poops in a box, buries said poop with their paws, and then jumps on my counter. No way, no how.)

Hey now, you just step back Missy. Pets are great no matter what they are. And, thinking about it...no cat of mine has ever licked her "kitty parts" then lapped my face and mouth with a big doggy kiss! lol.
