  1. Self disembarkation uber/Lyft or taxi to airport domestic to East Coast carryon only No premium Airline status TSA Precheck If we miss the early flight then the next available flight Having said all this we may go the opposite way and have a later flight after 9:00pm and rent a car to do some post-cruise touring in the LA area. Fares for red eye flights are the lowest cost. Currently the airfare from East coast to LA area are very expensive, over $500 rt. The week of the cruise is public school Winter Recess for many East Coast schools, which exacerbate the situation. But we're traveling with family members that have to travel that week.
  2. I'll be sailing on the 2/18/23 Solstice Mexican Riviera cruise. What would be the earliest flight from SNA/John Wayne or LAX Airport we can take on disembarkation? Would a 10AM flight work? It would be a Saturday. Thanks for any contributions!
  3. You have to do a coffee plantation tour if you're going to Kona. https://www.lovebigisland.com/kona-coffee-tasting/
  4. Not correct. Royal's Dynamic Dining CLASSIC, since discontinued, did indeed rotate BOTH Dining venues AND Service Staff. As I said it was a disaster since NO ONE liked it. No other cruiseline will attempt this since this is an OLD concept of having the same service staff serve you every night. As I said, Virgin will never implement this and would shut down before ever instituting rotational dining. https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=2007
  5. If that is make or break I would change to a Sea Terrace XL,a suite or not sail VV. The bathroom in any VV cabin other than a sea terrace XL Or Rockstar suite is tiny tiny. The cabins in anything other than a suite are also small with no storage whatsoever. Edit: If you look at the videos below the shower in the Seview is about half the size of the NCL Club Balcony Suites. The bathroom is also literally half the size. The shower in SL XL Sea Terrace is a square shaped box that's a decent size, and the way the bathroom is setup two people can use it at the same time.
  6. Unfortunately what you're trying to do isn't available. The options you have is to buy a Premium water package or buy water a la carte when needed, but you can't buy water in advance to be delivered to the cabin. FYI, the 'regular' bottled water on Celebrity are in aluminum bottles with a screw cap. If you want other types of water they have premium branded water in glass bottles, which of course are more money.
  7. The wristbands are given out at check-in.
  8. Sounds like Virgin isn't necessarily the best fit for you then. You want the elements of a traditional cruise experience which is the antithesis of what the whole Virgin Voyages concept is. A fixed, rotational dinner experience is something that would NEVER, happen at VV. As you can see it's a concept that only Disney has implemented. Royal tried it and it failed miserably. Celebrity's E-Class ship has four main dining rooms each with it's own personality and specialty menu items but isn't a rotational concept, and it's extremely well received. There's apparently a reason the fixed rotational dining room concept hasn't been adopted on other cruiselines;it's not popular.
  9. If you're on YTD and still want the same wait staff that can only be done by requesting that service team's section at the restaurant host desk once your reservation is available.
  10. A picture is worth 1000 words. Here's a photo of the Laundry bag with a men's(my husband's) 34x30 jeans rolled up next to it. You can fit at least five of those rolled up jeans.
  11. I would HATE, HATE, HATE, a rotational dining concept. can I say it again HATE. I want to eat at the restaurant I WANT TO CHOOSE. I don't need the same waiter, not necessary if they all provide excellent service.
  12. I hope you're being facetious because you would be committing a Federal offence if you give out a false SS# to a casino when requiring to fill out a 1099-G form.
  13. Free cruise vouchers will always have a validity dates printed on them. Usually a booked by and sail by dates. Normally they are for new bookings only but some cruiseline casino departments are more lenient than others and may allow you to change an existing booking offer code. Royal's Casino Royale is one of those that are quite generous with allowing changes to an existing comped cruise booking. All I can say is it doesn't hurt to call and ask, although you probably will need patience in getting through the reservation lines. Good luck!
  14. You can check how long the wait is before submitting a reservation request. You can even cancel it after you make it. We always make the request when we're getting dressed and usually by the time we're ready and leaving our room our table is ready. If not we will go to a bvar and get a drink. On Elegant Night when we KNOW it's going to be busy you plan ahead and order the table about 40 mins before you want to eat.
  15. I didn't realize/remember that MSC doesn't collect a SS # when paying out casino jackpots (We have only taken 1 MSC cruise 5 years ago, our second will be next week). There are plenty of cruiselines and ships that collect your SS# when paying out jackpots but don't immediately give you a 1099-G form. You would then need to get the 1099-G forms at the end of the cruise from the casino cashier or post cruise contact the cruiseline. The reason I'm familiar with the rules is my husband and I report casino winnings in the 6 figures and we work very, very, judiciously with our tax accountant on how to report casino winnings. In fact we were just challenged by the IRS on our 2020 taxes on how we reported our casino winnings (how we reported it vs the 1099-G records) and we received a confirmation that the IRS accepted the way we reported our gambling income. Believe me when I say there's A LOT of record keeping.
  16. So it seems that MSC doesn't issue 1099-G statements but you are technically responsible to report jackpot winnings over$1,200 in one win.

  18. All cruises lines have to sail outside the US, yet they report the winnings to the IRS.
  19. On average Celebrity ships, even the E-Class like the Apex, won't be as lively as a NCL ship. The club is mostly not busy at all, not like Bliss Ultra Lounge. While the ship isn't a ghost town at 10, it generally will be at 11, with the only venues with people are the casino, Martini Bar, and the Club (if open) in that order.
  20. If you have Your Time Dining you will be able to reserve Chibang or Cucina using the app that evening, otherwise if you have fixed seating dining you wont be able to reserve those restaurants onboard until later in the evening. For either type of dining you cannot reserve Chibang or Cucina in advance.
  21. They may send it out to by mail after the fact. In any case whether or not you receive the forms you will need to remember and report the winnings when you do your 2022 Federal taxes since they will most assuredly be reporting it to the IRS.
  22. That would be a whole cruise pass and it's definitely way cheaper to buy it precruise than on the ship. It will be probably $60 more onboard for the whole cruise pass.
  23. Fuchsia, fuchsia, fuchsia! I guess Carnival and Farcus wasn't the only cruiseline and ship interior designer to go to extremes.
  24. Although there hasn't been Official word it is 100% certain that Chibang and Cucina will operate as it does on the Mardi Gras since all the reasons stated that they are free on the Mardi Gras (whatsmore there's actually MORE cabins and thus more passengers on the Celebration than the MardiGras) and for the fact that if you go and try to reserve Specialty restaurants on the Celebration Chibang and Cucina don't come up as choices. There's absolutely no way the two main dining rooms on the Celebration can accommodate all the passengers for dinner without using both Chibang and Cucina.
