  1. I thought the Brits invented and exported snobbery throughout the world for centuries. Fascinating to read a theory that Brits see themselves as a society of egalitarians!

More seriously, it is amazing to me how many luxury cars and watches are advertised on TV here in the US with voice-overs by Brits. We still associate Britishness with "high class".

Happy for the OP.  Is this the same company that everyone is complaining about?

Well, it is the same company dozens (if not hundreds) of people were complaining about when their Japan cruises were cancelled due to overbooking and, IIRC, they were not offered the chance to rebook with price protection. And another group who had a similar experience when the Beyond was repositioned to the Caribbean without giving them the chance to rebook with price protection.

Yes, that company. So, let's forget all that and cheer because in this calendar year they made an accommodation for a grand total of 2--count 'em, two--people, while leaving what may be thousands SOL.

Ypir, had you received the e-mail last week or last month or last year, would you have still asked, "why now"? The important thing here is that you have the opportunity to provide your thoughts on the current state of cruising affairs. If your thoughts matter, let X know.

No matter when it is, there will always be a now. Choose your nows wisely.

I assumed the OP meant "Why after the webinar to address cruisers' concerns is over?"

X is clearly trying to draw a "new crowd" that they arguably don't understand, while hopefully not pissing off their loyal base too too much. Personally, I think they're failing at both.

And some self-identified members of that new crowd have stated they don't care about what the loyal base thinks has gone south in quality. I am always amazed when people here have temerity to weigh in on whether someone else has a right to be disappointed.

  5. @kywildcatfanone I think the response was triggered by the beginning of yours. "Not gone hungry" is obviously not your literal standard, but it does suggest that the bar for food acceptability on a cruise should be meaured from a floor rather than reaching toward heights.

Kind of like evaluating Calipari lately according to several peeks I have seen of UK fan-sites! Sorry...couldn't resist.

Agree fully and my only worry is negativity of people posting purely on the basis of what they have heard or read putting people off their imminent cruises. I think that’s unfair as looking forward to holidays is a big part of the enjoyment for us, in fact been out dog walking tonight chatting about out our ABC cruise next August.

Which tells me you totally failed to appreciate the basis of the interest some of us have in the negative critiques because we don't want to be surprised by things that have changed since our last cruise years ago. And as I said, it helps to know if the MDR food has declined enough to go speciality (that was for you! even tho it feels like a typo to us Yanks). People who cruise often can easily say "we'll see for ourselves" because you see any single cruise as just one of many--not so some of us.

But bored of the repetitiveness of it.....

I just wanted to point out that when people like us are trying to decide on how to plan for our only booked cruise in >4 years, the posts that discuss changes are very informative. The repetetive "Do your own evaluation and then decide if you continue with X" posts don't have any meaning for us because if we aren't cruising again, having a poor experience will be our last memory.

So, following the menus, reading criticisms of food quality/offerings/discontinuations gives us the chance to decide whether to go with specialties or buffet, and maybe some help in planning what nights to switch (Roasted turkey? pot pie? shudder...). Already, our plans to use room service to enjoy our big balcony have been affected by the changes limiting non-suites to a minimalist menu all day.

You might find it boring, but the info is useful to many people. Cruisers making critical comments about their experiences are not lemmings, so I don't get the notion that because some are happy all the others are somehow delusional.

I'm from the generation that rebelled against being lectured to by people who thought they knew better.

To not go looking everywhere for offence and be disappointed when others don't.

Before the term woke was ever invented ...

Ah, the one that discarded politeness and blames insulted people for being offended.

Two ladies at the bar not really causing any issues..lighten up Francis.  That said, I have seen security have a "word" with a few folks.  All in all, I think they do a good job

Would you feel the same way if 2 men were loud and annoying, bragging about being drunk, and grabbing people with their arms around them?

It is the grabbing people that makes me think you cannot describe the ladies as not causing any problems.  Just takes one person trying to shrug out of it and suddenly it is a confrontation. Most bars draw the line at grabbing.

Citi wanted me to cancel my card based on this transaction...really?

That is because card fraudsters will often put a miniscule charge in first just to make sure a card number is valid. When the cardholder disregards it because it isn't worth the trouble, lots of bigger charges are made in close order and they get all their stuff before it is shut down. Citi just being cautious.

It's not that they don't care

I am not sure how different your description of your cruise would be if you thought they actually did not care. Sounds pretty much like indifference to me.

Edit: The staff likely cares, as you have described. Corporate indifference to customers is usually accompanied by indifference to staff as the mgmt tries to increase profit by cutting staff and making remaining staff work harder.
