  1. Two days after sending my email, I received an email response from someone who was handling my issue.  My missing obc was immediately returned to my account.

Doesn’t cost anything to try. My email to him was short but I included all the necessary documents to make my case.

Risk free guarantees are no longer offered for cruises embarking in 2023 and 2024 - only those embarking in 2022?.

I originally booked in Aug 2021 and changed in November 2021 so looking at the RFG at the time of booking, there is no mention of sailings only in 2022 and not 2023/24.  I have attached it so please feel free to let me know if I’m missing something as we would be first timers on Viking. As I read it wouldn’t I just lose $100.00 pp under their standard cancellation policy canceled before final payment? TIA

However, if you have third-party insurance you should be clear on how many times you can move the insurance.  Each company and/or policy will have different rules about this.

I called insurance agent and was told they might not move it a second time.  I would just chalk up the loss of the cost of only 157 since I only cover minimum for medical and then closer to final I up it. Surprisingly I received an email that they moved the dates with no problem.

Thanks for the heads up Peregrina651😉

  4. We were on the Dec 4th Hawaiian Sojourn and when we decided not to do the Mexican Riviera I called Viking and instead of canceling, I just moved the money to an Amsterdam to Basel river cruise (with same booking number). Today with the lockdowns in The Netherlands and increasing Covid in Europe and final coming up February, I called Viking and just moved my same booking number to the Canadian Discovery in May 2023.  It was easy and no loss of money or FCC to deal with. If, when the time comes to pay final and worried, I’ll just call Viking.

  5. Kidless, it was the same cruise we were on with you in March 2022. It all depends on what date you booked it. We canceled at 145 days. If we had to agree to their terms when we paid the deposit, then they should also be accountable to abide by it. Can you imagine if all of a sudden, willy nilly, they decided that the COO wasn’t entitled to his salary and just decided to cut it in half?? They can’t just change terms whenever they want. This is my defense in the disputed charge. Luckily we have the guest copy that states we lose deposit only if less than 120 days.

  6. I never buy insurance from cruise lines but what I do is buy it from an outside company which can be transferred to different dates if the original cruise is canceled. Have done it many times and will probably do it for this cruise once I have a replacement for it.

Sorry not to be the bearer of better news. I have been trying to post since I found out. I almost wondered if they could block from posting to CC!  The young fellow said they would be going to Cabo, Mazatlan, I think maybe he said Ensenada and he couldn’t recall the rest. Not where I would want to go either…

Hope you don’t mind but I posted it on both the roll call for Dec 4 and 12/20. Just wondering how or what offers we would be getting? I would just change to a river cruise I have my eye on especially if they offer extra %. Thanks again.
