  1. Same for us in May. Sometimes it's difficult to find the actual schedule for each port. Often I find that cruise mapper is inaccurate.
  2. Yes. On past cruises we have often inquired about this option. You can ask at Guest Services upon embarking or at anytime during your cruise. We have always found it less expensive and more convenient to arrange our own transportation.
  3. We're booked Hong Kong to Vancouver in 2024 and Auckland to Bangkok in 2025 and our final payments on both of those cruises are due 6 months out.
  4. I'm looking for that information. Do you have a link to the schedule for Isola del Saloni?
  5. Thanks so much for this. I will try it.
  6. We like the World Cafe and Manfredis for dinner. We did make reservations for Chefs Table on our upcoming cruise, but whether we keep them is dependent on the menus. Viking used to have the menus online for each date for each cruise, but they don’t do this anymore. IMO, if they published the Chefs Table menus for each cruise this would solve a lot of problems for people not being able to book this particular restaurant.
  7. Yes, but I find that you can't hang a lot on it because everything ends up together in the middle.
  8. Can you give this post some context? Are you on a cruise now and can't get a reservation at the 2 specialty restaurants? Are you trying to book online?
  9. https://www.thestar.com/life/food_wine/recipes/2023/02/09/philly-cheesesteak-vs-kansas-city-ribs-heres-your-fun-super-bowl-menu-no-matter-who-youre-cheering-for.html
  10. The train is much cheaper -- 10 euros -- and it takes awhile and involves 1 change, but having travelled a lot with Trenitalia (not on this particular route), I'm sure it's a nice ride and probably very scenic.
  11. Oh-oh. My mistake. It's "Jeff's" cheesesteak. Scrumptious nonetheless. 😀
  12. The bun is far from low carb, but I allow myself one of these on the first day (and maybe several other days; and then maybe some ice cream too 😇) and then I workout like crazy when I get home. The problem this time is that it is only about 7 weeks between our cruise on Sea in March and then back on Sea in May. That's a lot of sweating lol..
  13. So this is just my opinion, but in a place like Venice I would not book the pre. With the pre, you're on Viking's schedule if you are depending on them for transportation. In Venice, our experience was, if you want to get photos anywhere near comparable to the beautiful photos you posted here recently, you will have to be on your own timeline and that will mean being out there at first light before the hoards of tourists. I would definitely do Venice on your own. It's very easy.
  14. Personally, I’d be happy with either of them, but you can cancel the pre extension up to 30 days out. You could book the Hilton on your own if that’s the location you want. I think it’s less expensive than the Marriott.
  15. I think it's a 15-20 minute ferry ride and the ferry runs several times an hour. If I'm not mistaken, I think the Hilton is also on an island and runs a shuttle. Either hotel would be very nice, imo.
  16. A cheesesteak is a sandwich made from thinly sliced pieces of beefsteak and melted cheese in a long hoagie roll. I get it with mushrooms. It's really lovely.
  17. We were on Jupiter last May. We informed Guest Services one day that the testing was botched up and we received someone else's vials. We weren't nasty about it at all, but we told them that we were going to go on with our day -- gym, breakfast, etc. That evening there was a letter in our room from the GM -- I can't remember his name -- apologizing for the error and said it wouldn't happen again. It happened again the next morning to us and several others on our deck. We weren't against their testing policy, in fact we supported it. But after experiencing it and chatting with others on board, we decided it was ineffective.
  18. That's great! Have you joined the Roll Call? How are you getting to San Juan? We have a lot of credits to use up with a certain airline with the initials "AT" 🙂, but they cancelled our flight. So now we are flying to FLL with them and staying over and then on to San Juan with JetBlue.
  19. That's true, but in our case we will be touring the Galicia region of Spain via train for 10 days before we join our cruise in Barcelona, so just having carryons for that bit of the trip is very convenient. It is expensive, even with Viking's 20% discount, but it beats getting on and off trains with heavy luggage. Been there done that many, many times over the years.
  20. But in this scenario, wouldn't this affect all cabin categories, not just PV? Or am I misunderstanding your example?
  21. Here is an earlier thread on that topic We have booked to use them in May. By all accounts it's very efficient. My only concern is sending luggage unlocked. But many people have done it with good results.🙂
  22. The last few reports from recent cruisers have indicated that there are no pistachio buns to be found. On our last cruise this past May, I was able to find one on the first morning, but never again after that. We cruise again next month and I'll be looking for them!!
  23. Beautiful photo worth framing. Thanks for posting it. Enjoy the rest of your World Cruise!
  24. Whenever we’ve brought anything onboard, they’ve always made sure it had an automatic shutoff.
