I have to say SanteFe1, we have never used Luggage Forward before. I’m somewhat nervous about it, but you and others on this forum have eased my fears (somewhat😊) and I’m sure it’s better than hauling our bags around Spain on and off trains and in and out of hotels.

After reading here about some of the private tours of Sagrada Familia vs the Viking tour, I think we will do private, probably with Tours by Local or Viator. We are touring Spain for a couple of weeks before we join the ship, so we are using Luggage Forward. Thanks for the info on Barcelona Below The Skin. I looked it up and it is mucho interesante!

The Mercer looks lovely and is also in the Gothic Quarter. When are you going? We are trying to book for May 2023.

We want to leave our cruise in Livorno and rejoin in Naples two days later. Has anyone here done this? We will of course inform Viking of our plans, but are there any other procedures? Any firsthand knowledge of Viking cooperating (or not) with this deviation?

Has anyone stayed at H10 Madison in Barcelona? We tried to book Hotel Serras and Hotel Jazz but there must be something going on in Barcelona during our stay because many hotels are blacked out for check-ins during our time there.

I usually have a polish change on board and just be aware there are no nail dryers for regular polish, so I usually take a drying spray and then wait 5 minutes before I go off and do other things.

Thanks so much for your input. We will book Hotel Jazz or Serras Hotel in Barcelona which are not open for booking as of yet. In Madrid we booked Pestana Plaza Mayor. Has anyone stayed there? We are flying to Porto and then we will be in Spain for about 10 days before the cruise touring the Galacia region. All of our hotels are booked their too except for Santiago. We are wanting to book Rua Pillar which is not open for bookings yet. All of our bookings are refundable.

At the end of our cruise we are going to stay in Athens. We want to stay in a hotel with a view of the Acropolis. At the moment we are looking at the Electra Palace. Any other suggestions would be very much appreciated 😊

We are booked for Viking Mediterranean Odyssey and Empires of the Mediterranean B2B. I have researched the CC port forum and garnered some information, but I would also like Info from Viking cruisers. We will be in Madrid 3 nights and Barcelona 2 nights before we board and stay another night in Barcelona on Viking Sea. At the moment we are looking at Iberostar in both cities. In Madrid we want to stay close to Plaza Mayor. In Barcelona we want to stay near Plaça de Catalunya, perhaps down toward the Cathedral and the Gothic Quarter. Can anyone who has recently been to either of these cities recommend a place to stay. Thanks much.

I have noticed over the past couple of months that posts, and also whole topics, have been removed without explanation. Maybe they should put a few informed forum contributors on the “Board of Deletion Decisions”. It seems rather unfair that the contributors don’t have a say in what gets deleted, as some of the info can be very informative and helpful to others. Even Trip Advisor isn’t that harsh —. and for saying that, this post will probably be deleted. But at least TA doesn’t delete whole topics. They close topics for unacceptable content, which is fair, but they don’t delete a post without explanation.

A few years ago our agent was on vacation when we wanted to change something. We called Viking and they did what we asked and confirmed the change in an email to the TA..

When we returned from our cruise last month, we deleted all of our information on Verify and closed the account -- of course, it's probably still out there somewhere. 🙄

And we are booked for the Hong Kong to Vancouver part in spring 2024. 🙂
