  1. We stayed in 6090 once and I agree that the location is not great. For us, the issue was the Aquavit overhang. It definitely inhibited the ability to take photos. I think 6028 looks good! All that is above you is the lanai which shouldn't be too noisy.
  2. Thank you. We’re cruising next month and I’ve been working on trying to attain photos of the same quality as yours.
  3. Off topic @OneSixtyToOne and @uktog Are there any books you would recommend on photographing with an iPhone? Or did you just experiment with it?
  4. On our January cruise on Sea, in the Explorer’s Lounge, we encountered the best guitarist we’ve had the pleasure of listening to on Viking. His name was Mark. Unfortunately, about halfway through the cruise, he disappeared. After that, there was no entertainment in the EL except Trivia, which we also enjoy.
  5. This surprises me. In all our voyages with Viking, I can't recall them ever being late to dock. This includes two trips to Barcelona.
  6. My special instruction is always "Please wash cold and hang to dry. Thank you!" Yours might be "Please press collar closed. Thank you!" That's what I would do. If it comes back and it isn't how you like it, then show your steward how you would like it pressed.
  7. Smart move, getting in there before the clouds moved in. Our guide said it would be structurally finished in 2026.
  8. Very nice photos. We visited on a cloudy day last year, so my photos aren't as nice.
  9. I have always thought the bits of the fruit flesh were called pulp. So what then, is pulp?
  10. You can purchase SSBP on My Viking Journey up to 1 week before boarding or at Guest Services after you board.
  11. It's an interesting question, but if I were to look at it from Viking's perspective, I might get to Day 14 and decide I could save money by buying the SSBP. I doubt they would let me do that. Although, looking at the "rules", I can't see anything that says I have to buy it before a certain point. I will be interested to see if anyone here has tried to do this. Personally, if I thought it was going to be a close call, I would just buy it and forget about it. One less stressor on a holiday.
  12. Except that yesterday we cancelled 2 excursions for our cruise next month and the money is already back in our account. But, off-topic....of course.😇
  13. To me, it seems possible that the Viking rep FetaCheese talked to misinterpreted the policy.
  14. 👍 I'll be interested to see the menu for that!
  15. I'll be interested to see how this pans out. We sometimes cancel optional shore excursions once on board within the required timeframe and I would think they would want to fill those spots.
  16. That seems like a new policy. We often change things once we board. Did your Viking rep say anything about cancellations once on board?
  17. Yes, there are two different Mexican menus. On our recent cruise, Chef's Table posted one, but served a different one. Later in the cruise Chef's Table served the one they had originally posted.
  18. Thanks very much Andy. You are always a wealth of very useful information. We're very excited to finally be travelling this route.
  19. It's always a good thing that they let you know that upfront before you book because at that point you can decide if you want to have more dealings with Viking. The food at the restaurant is included, so I'm not sure what you mean by "no substitutions". If I had a shrimp allergy and all they did was "take the shrimp off", I would have a problem with the "underlying lettuce base" being anywhere near me. Seafood allergies can be extremely serious. ?
  20. @Heidi13Hi Andy. Would you comment on scenery, timing and port vs. starboard if one were departing Ketchikan at 1400 May 12 and arriving Vancouver at 0700 May 14. Thank you, as always.🙂
  21. That's even better!! That's never happened to us. Although lately we are booking longer cruises, so I'm not sure we could move over.
  22. Excellent question and possibly someone here will comment on their experience. Good on you -- free SSBP. We've only been that fortunate once. We usually buy it -- set it and forget it sort of thing.
