  1. It's always a good thing that they let you know that upfront before you book because at that point you can decide if you want to have more dealings with Viking. The food at the restaurant is included, so I'm not sure what you mean by "no substitutions". If I had a shrimp allergy and all they did was "take the shrimp off", I would have a problem with the "underlying lettuce base" being anywhere near me. Seafood allergies can be extremely serious. ?
  2. @Heidi13Hi Andy. Would you comment on scenery, timing and port vs. starboard if one were departing Ketchikan at 1400 May 12 and arriving Vancouver at 0700 May 14. Thank you, as always.🙂
  3. That's even better!! That's never happened to us. Although lately we are booking longer cruises, so I'm not sure we could move over.
  4. Excellent question and possibly someone here will comment on their experience. Good on you -- free SSBP. We've only been that fortunate once. We usually buy it -- set it and forget it sort of thing.
  5. If it were my decision it certainly would exempt you from the rule. Have you put this question to Viking, or had past experience with this rule?
  6. LOL. It was just a guess. I'm expecting someone to come along and correct me anytime now. 😉
  7. Yes, unless there are exceptional circumstances, for example, an underage occupant.
  8. When I want to know something about a specific room, I walk by as it's being cleaned. But hopefully someone here has the answer you're looking for.
  9. How would I know who did a really good job doing my laundry, just for one example? What you are saying here is nonsensical.
  10. This is great advice! He helped a lot of the HAL World Cruise people with his blog.
  11. Been there, done that. We needed the Brazil e-visa (and then we didn't) for our January Viking cruise. We applied on day 1 and within 2 weeks we were able to obtain the visa. However, most on our roll call were not able to obtain the visa. My advice to you is not to go through a 3rd party ($$$). They are dealing with the same bureaucracy as you and they definitely won't be able to get it any faster than you can get it. Not only that, but all the uploads you forward to the visa provider, you will just have to do the same for the 3rd party so they can forward them to the visa provider. Stick with it. It might take a few more weeks, but you're further ahead by starting the process now.
  12. Somewhat off-topic, we walked around Chioggia on our own last year and it's a cute little place to see if you haven't been before.
  13. Binoculars are supplied in every class of cabin except "V". The quality of the binoculars improves with each cabin class.
  14. Wow. And you all are leading the way!! No?🙂
  15. We absolutely agree with you Jim and this is very disappointing. Many of us are watching and waiting.
  16. Have you looked at page 3 of your invoice? That's where we always find our port times.
  17. I understand what you're saying. The line up at Guest Services is usually fairly long the day after the gratuities have been added, and I doubt that they're there to increase the amount. After the first Viking cruise, one knows what to expect.
  18. You might be correct. This is what's in the T&C: "TIPS It is customary to give cruise gratuities, subject to your satisfaction of services rendered. Gratuities on board and on land are not included in your full fare."
  19. That would be helpful. Do you have links to your reviews?
  20. You might want to start a roll call here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/835-viking-jupiter-roll-calls/ Enjoy! 🙂
  21. @WanderingBrit Thanks for the extensive report! Love the idea of a Tapas Bar. That might work on Viking at the Pool Grill! 🙂
