  1. Yup, that’s the best way to use that credit. You’ll know for next time 😊
  2. Good luck with that - your best argument would be to hold the on board agent responsible as the terms posted on the ship indicate 6 months.
  3. I wouldn’t know as I don’t use Tripmate - but that’s a great question to ask Viking before finalizing a transfer. One thing I can say (as I just did a transfer a few weeks ago) is your deposit is transferred.
  4. To begin, your final payment date should have been 12/24 - 6 months hs final payment is a perk of booking on board. Having said that, you should be able to transfer the booking to another date/itinerary, but you will lose any perks gained by booking on board. Don’t know how Viking will treat any OBC used on your Panama cruise. Worst case, you’ll lose your deposit which I assume was $50 for both of you - but you can take dvantage of any promos on the replacement cruise.
  5. Same here, but I doubt it would be that drastic as their TV ads emphasize no casinos and no kids. Print ads also emphasize “all inclusive”.
  6. There’s no agent on board river cruises. You can purchase $200 vouchers for $100 on river which can be used on ANY NEW booking (river, ocean and/or expedition), If you book directly with a Viking agent within 2 weeks after disembarking ANY cruise, you will get $200pp OBC for that cruise. I personally have done all of this (except I never booked an expedition).
  7. Also, most folks going to and from the Explorer lounge use the corridor on the other side of the elevators - that’s the side with the bar.
  8. We stayed in 8013 last Fall which is not unlike your location regarding the elevators and stairs. Absolutely no issues!
  9. Nope - and as a rule we go to sleep around 10pm.
  10. FetaCheese - I’m sure @FlyerTalker could explain the air issues - I just want you to be aware of cost and traffic issues you may face Uber-ing to Manhattan. You may want to consider using Amtrak from Philly to NYC as the cruise piers are a short cab ride from Penn Station. In fact, you could walk to the piers - it’s about 1.5 miles. If you’re over 62 and want to save some $$$, you can switch trains to NJ Transit in Trenton (same platform) and pay a lot less as seniors get a 50+% discount - and NJ Transit is cheaper to begin with.
  11. Recently we decided to revise a booking we had to take advantage of a great promo. We planned to rebook the original itinerary for 1 year later as the cruise fare and air was the same. However, we had originally booked an extension for $599pp that would now be $1,099pp! Our Viking agent checked this out and said that was correct - we would need to pay the increased amount and even suggested we think about revising the flight and doing something on our own. It did make us think about this cruise, and we decided to hold off for now.
  12. Yes - on the Mars this past January. No issues whatsoever.
  13. Try AAM24. I ran price and build for this cruise and you can get a DV2 for V2 price.
  14. Thank you again Flyer Talker! Your knowledge is a great asset for our group.
  15. While the flights we were assigned were OK, last night I decided to take a look at our air choices on MVJ. I found better flights on a different airline (United) where we have frequent flyer accounts for $154pp. During the process, we discovered the few economy seats offered would not work for us. This morning, I thought about it again and realized these flights were significantly better - and we should just take whatever seats we could and then change them on United’s website. The only seat upgrades offered by Viking in MVJ were to business class at $3,500pp - not worth it to us. Now here comes the interesting part: The cost this morning was now $14 each! So I started the process but was stopped after filling out the payment screen as the flight was now “sold out”. So I thought a bit, and figured it wouldn’t hurt to check for other alternative fights. So I start the process over again and - lo and behold - these same flights are available again - at a cost of $74 each! So I paid Viking, got the flights, and then went on to United’s site where I was able to upgrade to decent “preferred economy” seats for $51pp per flight. The only standard economy seats offered by United were the same exact undesirable seats offered by Viking. Has anyone else experienced anything like these Viking price changes?
  16. The only thing we lost was the $200 pp OBC we earned by booking within 2 weeks of disembarkation. Ironically, we gained it back as we got $400 pp past guest discount on the revised booking.
  17. We booked March 24 2025 which is Buenos Aires/BCN and $500 more per person than your date. We also used $200 Viking River certificates we bought a year ago.
  18. We booked this past Friday and got $400 past guest discount each. My Viking agent is on vacation this week or I would ask him for you. We revised an existing booking to do this - and our original booking was $200pp past guest discount. Maybe this offer expired mid-April? Maybe ask your agent again?
  19. That will be added in the final stage of booking. I booked mine with my Viking agent - I assume any travel agent - or booking with “price and build” will do the same.
  20. I just wanted to share this as it wasn’t obvious when I first read this promo announcement. The current promo code for Med cruises - AAM24 - is also good for two sailings of the Southern Atlantic Crossing (which does have 2 port stops on the Med). This 22 day cruise sails from Buenos Aires to Barcelona and includes 8 excursions in 6 countries and 3 continents. The promo provides free air and free cabin upgrades - pay for a V2 and get a DV2. Both sailings have several DV2s available. The package for the 10/18/24 sailing is $4,999 PP before the past guest discount which is currently $400 PP - or a total cost of $9,198 per couple for a DV2 with free air. The 3/24/25 sailing is from Buenos Aires to Barcelona and costs $500 more per person. This promo expires 4/30/24.
  21. Just tie it in yourself over your collar, then slip it off and slip it on the young man, put it under the collar and then tighten.
  22. Yes - you can do that at embarkation too.
  23. Based on my current booked cruises, Ocean is $17 and River is $20 per person per night.
