  1. My understanding is you can cancel up to 90 days before embarkation. If your flights were ticketed, you would be subject to a penalty.
  2. There should be a choice for credit cards that provide both rewards and insurance.
  3. As a rule, you can’t combine 2 promo codes with letters and numbers - but there are other discounts that may be combinable, such as booking on board, Bon Voyage discounts, and Welcome Back discounts.
  4. Not always true - we have had Viking folks help us take luggage off the carousel - of course, we pointed out our luggage - but they were there.
  5. That email should have the phone extension for their agent. I suggest calling that agent and request to be transferred to customer relations. Then I would request SBC to be applied to the cruise you have booked for next summer.
  6. Nope - unless you cancel and rebook, you might be able to that way.
  7. Honestly these changes were most likely made by the airline. I personally use a Viking agent (employee) and never used a TA for Viking.
  8. Viking Ocean will break down US currently but not exchange for foreign currency.
  9. How much deposit at booking is required by AMA?
  10. It doesn’t work that way with a Viking agent. Unlike a TA, the first Viking agent or on line booking gets the credit.
  11. I also use a Viking agent who is off weekends. As long as you connect and book on Monday you should be fine. It wouldn’t hurt to shoot him an email now that you will call Monday.
  12. Problem could be Firefox. If you’re using any Mac system, I suggest sticking with Safari.
  13. My Viking agent ALWAYS calls - and only emails when attaching documents. Calls are anything from wishing a non voyage to offers that usually can be combined with promo codes. I’ve had this too. So I advise to take the chance and answer the phone.
  14. Honestly, very little if you’re comparing to the large ships.
  15. When we booked this cruise, the only discounts we had were a Welcome Back discount and applying vouchers bought on a river cruise. This is a popular cruise that sells out quickly and it was maybe the only one that didn’t have a special promotion. We booked about 16 months ahead of sailing and monitored promos with the intent to cancel and rebook - but it didn’t happen. The only thing that did happen is that fares went up the month after we booked.
  16. Some embellishments to Mitina’s excellent summation: Bon voyage actually gets you the discount the onboard consultant would offer - except since you’re not on a cruise at the time, the OBC is for the new cruise booked. If I remember, we were offered the discounts 30 days before embarkation, but there was a deadline of I think a week before to book. It was offered directly by the Viking agent with whom we booked the upcoming cruise. Welcome home can be utilized if you book within 2 weeks of disembarkation. I’ve used this several times and received $200 per person OBC regardless of the new cruise length. The most recent Welcome Home promo we were offered was a month ago and it was now $300 per person OBC. Again, offered directly by our Viking agent. Future cruise promo is offered by email and requires a promo code. Therefore, it cannot be combined with other promo codes (unlike Bon Voyage and Welcome Home). Although it uses a code, you cannot book on line.
  17. All you need is WiFi on the ship so you can use Viking Voyager, scan QR codes and maybe make free phone calls if your plan includes WiFi calling. Never use cell services on the ship.
  18. these are two different promotions. As I understand it, you can’t use both together, but you can use another code with Bon Voyage (I did it). Bon Voyage is really like booking on board before you go - discount increases with the length of the cruise - and the discounts for both fare and OBC are called “On board booking” on our statement.
  19. We took advantage of a bon voyage promo in July. It was offered by telephone by my Viking agent, and like the welcome home promo, there was no code and we were able to combine it with a promo code. It was $200 each off cruise fare plus $100 each OBC.
  20. And you do an incredible job in explaining the nuances. Thanks for your participation!
  21. Did you consider adding the pre-cruise extension to Amsterdam? This will get you to Amsterdam 2 days earlier, 2 hotel nights with breakfast, a city tour and all transfers, baggage handling etc. for $749pp. You won’t incur deviation fees, cost and responsibility for your own transfers from the airport, hotel booking, etc. Monetary cost will be more, but you will have no worries as Viking will be there for you if anything should screw up.
  22. Not sure about that. We deal with the LA office. And it has also been 6 months at times. I always use the same Viking agent - I’ll check this out next time we speak.
  23. I would think that you’re in Canada might be the reason.
  24. You didn’t say you just did a last minute booking which explains why your PIF is less than 6 months. This has no relation whatsoever to Wtraveler’s refund situation.
