  1. The first time I went to Mykonos we had to tender. I don't think there was a pier then. There is a place to dock now (we did about 3-4 yrs ago on Brilliance) but it is not so convenient. There must have been another big ship there that beat you to the dock. Looked like two pretty good-sized ships in the bay. If there was a 3rd at the dock, thats a lot of people to dump on the small island.

  2. I do, that is for sure! I still had a wonderful time on the cruise; loved the people I met, and I even enjoyed England, though I was in A LOT of pain. I'm getting there - my right arm is still weaker - but one day I'll be back to doing one-armed push-ups on it! ;)

I love England and will go any time I get a chance. I agree that Windsor is a charming place also; been there several times but never with an opportunity to stay overnight as you had:p.

  3. Anyone stay at Embassy Suites - Miami Airport?

I've stayed at ES in the past, just not this one... and like the complimentary reception & breakfast.

But, wondering about their free airport shuttle... and the cruise shuttle that comes with the cruise package deal.

    Any experience/thoughts would be appreciated.

We just stayed there before our Eclipse transatlantic a couple of weeks ago. The 'reception/happy hour' was an attraction. We also ate dinner there and it was very good and very reasonable. We did not use their shuttle. I don't think it is free....it may have been at one time but pretty sure it isn't now. We opted for a cab and the cost was less than $20. We will definitely stay there again.

  4. I just got a room at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 using Priceline. Does anyone know anything about this hotel and if there's a place close by to buy wine and soft drinks? Thanks!

It is a nice hotel but there is nothing close by and the restaurants in the hotel are pretty pricy.

  6. Shula's is WAY overpriced and the food isn't that good. There was a place we ate the last time we stayed at the Westin just a few blocks north of the hotel. But the name escapes me at the moment. I'll do some research and see what I come up with.

What we had was very good--equivalent to Ruth's Chris in quality and price. It was probably about 2 years ago or more.

  7. Hello again,

Back with more questions about Fort Lauderdale. We are staying at the Westin Beach Resort and will be looking for places to eat nearby for breakfast. We generally find that the best breakfast is not necessarily in the hotel, although we may be wrong this time?? And sometimes the amount they want to charge for what they are offering is ridiculous. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also for dinner, any recommendations for close by or using the water taxi as we aren't planning on renting a car. We would really like to have some good seafood for at least one dinner of our stay.

    Thanks in advance.

If the Yankee Trader is now Westin Beach Resort, the Don Shula's on the Beach is right there. Very tasty. Not cheap.

  8. It is still a Sheraton but it is no longer called the Yankee Clipper. I think self-parking is $17/day (check with the hotel).

Thanks for the update. WE stayed there once and last time I looked it was unavailable/under renovation. Wasn't wild about it but it was OK. It was where the film "Where The Boys Are" was shot --did you know?
