  1. Yes. On my last cruise in the buffet at breakfast, I happened to always sit pretty close to a guest who had some pretty strict dietary requests. Not allergies or health condition, just a preference based lifestyle choice. no added butter, sugar, salt, no gluten, etc. They met with the manager and explained their preferences and special items were prepared for this guest. I saw the manager meet with them each day and ask how everything was. I don't know if they already planned on eating there each day or if the food needed to be requested the day before.
  2. Ok. So I just checked flight availability for 2 cruises I have in November and December of this year. There is a drop down menu for departing and return flight where you can select the class. Right now, only economy is showing in the menu. I don't know if business is already sold out for these or if it was never available. But I do know I have seen the option showing for flights in the past. And yes, you are able to select seats during the booking process.
  3. Oh wow. You are right. That does sound like a pain. I've never sailed out of Galveston.
  4. Yes. I'm pretty sure the options included business/first class. I was very surprised when I first used it, in that you really choose what flight you want...dates, times, airlines, etc. It's not like other cruise lines where you take whatever flight they surprise you with. But definitely shop around because the discount isn't as significant as those other cruise lines also. For me, the convenience of being able to lock in a price I was comfortable with but being able to delay payment was significant.
  5. I had a flight cancel just as I was about to head to the airport at 4AM (signed up for text alerts from the airline). I called the emergency number (at 4AM) and the agent attempted to rebook me on another flight but no flights were available that would get me to the port in time to make the 1st leg of my b2b (last time I schedule to arrive the day of). They did rebook me on a flight to make the second leg of the b2b at no additional charge to me even though the new ticket was more expensive than my original one. Fly2Fun does come with flight insurance. Read the coverage on your own as it is subject to change. At the time of my trip, I would've been reimbursed for the cost of the plane ticket. I had my cruise insured through Carnival and received FCC for the 1st leg. I did have to file a claim per the usual process.
  6. With Fly2Fun, you have the ability to select your own flights just like booking through a normal travel website. You don't have to leave that choice up to anyone else. If you prefer to go through your PVP, you still look at what is available through F2F and tell them the exact flights you want them to book for you. As soon as you have your flight booking confirmation code, you should be able to go to the airline page directly and select seats. It doesn't matter if the tickets have been paid for or not by Carnival. There has been only one time when I didn't immediately get a booking confirmation code after booking Fly2Fun. If you sign up for flight notifications with the airline, you should be notified immediately of any changes that the airline makes to your booked flights. Do pay attention to seemingly random cabin confirmation emails from Carnival. If you haven't made a payment or some other update to your cruise booking that would generate that email, it usually indicates a change was made to your flight. The PDF for your flight is at the very bottom of the email and will show any changes that were made.
  7. When I was on the conquest last year, you could get a can of beer at the pizza place. It was the only place to get a drink after the club closed.
  8. Let me tell you, the vendors on the Caribbean beaches have NOTHING on the pushy sales tactics that the art auctioneers have. There was a part where they suggest that you walk around and look at all the items and put a little post-it on ones that you'd like to see put up for bid. Well, one of the salespeople came up to me later and asked about one of the ones I put a sticky one. How did he know it was me?? So he's asking me what I like about it and giving me information about the artist and asks me to name a price that I'd be willing to pay to take it home. I gave him what I thought was a low-ball price and he had to go to his supervisor to get it approved and surprise, surprise, it was. I just needed to make an appointment to come back later to complete the paperwork. Yeah sure ok. Well it was then that I realized the PRIME location those guys are in. I couldn't go anywhere without passing though that little hallway. Not just him, but the other salespeople kept trying to flag me down to complete the purchase. I started to use other floors to avoid walking through the hall. Then I started getting voicemails and notes left in my cabin. It was really ridiculous. When I explained that I changed my mind, they still wanted to talk to me about it and kept adding more pieces that I had shown interest into the deal. I think with shipping and frames, the total price for everything came up to about $6000. I told them that I would need to sign up for their credit account for that amount, knowing that I had an active credit freeze. Once the credit wasn't able to be approved, I didn't hear another peep from them. I think they even avoided making eye contact with me after that. lol
  9. The shrimp salad is also gone. It was part of some tower thing I think that came with bagels and different toppings? The whole item is gone actually. I only ever ordered a side of the shrimp salad that was a part of that. It was very tasty
  10. The number of FTTF passes available for sale will be based on the number of platinum and diamond cruisers on that sailing. More of those passengers means less FTTF availability and vice versa, since the perks overlap.
  11. The mac and cheese was DELICIOUS. I didn't order it until day 5 of my 7 day cruise and ordered it every day after that. I suspect if it wasn't being ordered, it's because people didn't expect much of it. But man oh man. Yeah. That was good stuff. Now I was not impressed at all by the beef wellington. It was my first time having it and was so looking forward to it because everyone seemed to be so excited that it was on the menu. Maybe my expectations were too high? But I am not sad to see that one go.
  12. What is allowed and what people get away with are not the same. All carry-on beverages are supposed to be inspected, even soda. The fact that her bag wasn't even looked at tells me that someone was a bit lax in that area. They had no idea how much she was carrying on because they never looked. You can certainly try it if you want to.
  13. I don't drink frozen drinks so I put my usual cocktails in the tumbler when on the pool deck. They make them in the usual drink shakers and pour the finished drink into the tumbler. I have noticed that the ice does take longer to melt. But I try to avoid melted ice by not lingering over my drink. lol
  14. Try using a different browser. I used to get that error message when using Safari but it worked when I used Chrome.
  15. Those that fail to plan, plan to fail. This is effective time management.
  16. When I was on the Breakaway at the end of October/early November to Canada, you could see the steam/vapor coming from the pool.
  17. LOL. I've seen enough of the "uh oh. looks like this page took a vacation" messages to know better.
  18. I've sailed twice on Carnival with no single supplement. They weren't advertised as such. The per person price just didn't change when I went from 2 to 1
  19. If there was no bunk, then the sofa would be the second bed.
  20. I pay a few days early because I’m afraid the website might be down or something if I wait until the day of and then I’d be on the phone for hours trying to pay.
  21. I'm sailing on the Jewel in March. This will be my first time sailing on an NCL ship that doesn't have dedicated solo amenities and I am a bit apprehensive with how well the solo gatherings will go if they are unhosted. I will say all of my previous experiences have been great with the hosted ones. I don't mind eating dinner by myself but I usually prefer eating with a group. It's the 1 time that my introverted self can be extremely social (besides when bellied up at the bar) lol
  22. Sooo, I'm booked as a solo in the Haven on the 11/5/23 Escape to Bermuda. I moved my booking from the 11/10/23 sailing because I learned that the World Rugby Classic will be held from 11/4 - 11/11. Fingers crossed that there are games on 11/7. I've never been to a rugby game before, so this will be a two for me. 1st time in Haven and 1st time seeing rugby!
  23. I do believe I saw photographers almost every night on my last few sailings (getaway, Prima, breakaway). But there was not a designated night for "dress up or not" listed in the daily as there was in the past. Or maybe I missed it. I recall seeing people dressed up several nights and not one night stood out to me as having significantly more people dressed up than other nights.
