Note:If you like your table the first night, tell the hostess that you would like to be seated at that table every night.  This way you can still get to know your server on a personal level.  I went solo last cruise and my server had me out of there in 10 minutes!

You ate a full MDR meal in 10 minutes?? Amazing. kudos to you. I could never inhale a meal that quickly.

I know the smell because there’s a pancake restaurant close to my work…not a regional one…and their employees like to take breaks in our stairwell…and I dont take the elevator so I get to smell it. I’ve never smelled that on a carnival ship.

Maybe you're not smelling weed. :classic_ohmy:

  3. For those that are unaware it exists, there is a great sub-forum here on Cruise Critic called the "hurricane zone". It's mostly headed up by Pelican Bill, and it's a great forum to stay informed.

Thank you @Pelican Bill for providing this service to CC members! 👍

Just tried to check availability on Jubilee for Thanksgiving week next year and it doesn't come up in search.  Does that mean it's fully booked? Have family that had decided to possibly join us.

It think it means that the Jubilee isn't sailing from any U.S. port prior to Dec., 2023 is all.

Staffing issues are not just Carnival.  My local bank branch, national bank that has been around over 100 years, closed the drive thru lanes due to lack of staffing.  I was shocked.

Same here. About 8 months after Covid hit, my local Chase bank closed all of it's drive thru lanes, and removed all of the equipment. I hope they bring it back.

Can I piggy back on this question? We have reservations for the steakhouse for the first time next month- what is the going rate for cash tip?

It varies with the individual cruiser. I usually tip $5.00 for the order taker; $5.00 for the server. Some tip more; some tip less. I tip more if the service is outstanding....it really depends on what you are comfortable with. :classic_wink:

I haven’t sailed Carnival in almost 10 years. We booked through a TA and they gave us $500 OBC. When I sign into the “Carnival Hub” I don’t see anywhere to view your OBC?

Where is it? I would like to be able to keep track of it when I start booking things. Thanks!

It won't be. Sorry. OBC from a TA will only show up AFTER you board the ship. I ran into the same problem back in 2019. Just have faith that it will be there.

I'm going to try this again because I wasn't clear on my last post.

Some of us are planning to find a place to have lobster in St. John or Halifax.

What would be a good place for us to meet up ahead of time to plan our excursion?

    Thanks!

I'll give it a try. How about the atrium bar? Everybody knows where it is. Just select a time for your meet up. Do some research by googling "lobster house in St. John & Halifax".  Just my thoughts.

You should watch this Youtube video by a crew member, it may help to fully understand what is going on and the challenges that the staff are dealing with. It's worth watching all the way through and paying close attention around the 10:15 marker, speaks volumes on why we are seeing/experiencing some of what we are currently on cruises.

Ugghhhh. I watched the entire video. My heart goes out to those workers. I found that depressing. I can't imagine working/sleeping/living in those conditions. Thanks so much for posting.

Actually I find the sea day brunch to be one of the best meals on the ship.  DH loves the steak and eggs, or salmon eggs Benedict, I always get the bagels and lox.  You can wear shorts, so it’s no hassle to dress for it.

I totally agree! I love the steak & omelets for me, and eggs Benedict for Mrs. Joe817. And the fact that it's a sea day, means we can sleep in, take our time getting ready, and head to the MDR. I wish the offered it every day!

My almost 80 year-old mother emailed me this morning and asked if we were going to do the Seuss at Sea/Green Eggs and Ham breakfast during our October cruise. I adore that she's just a big kid too (the apple doesn't fall far from the tree). Does anyone know what they serve and if anyone is going to look at two grown women, sans child/children, if we go?

IT's a fun thing to see. The Seuss characters parade around in front and the kids in back, while everyone is eating their breakfast. I'm sure there is a U-Tube video on it if you search for it.
