  1. Jam, glad to see you back on board. I’m new to living in FL and went crazy booking cruises since everything is drivable. Port Canaveral is a short 1.5 hour trip south. Bonus is getting to stop at Sams on the way back.

    I board Mariner on 10/29 on a B4B departing 11/15. Like I said crazy.

Looking forward to your restaurant reviews. I have the D+ BOGO but wish it included hibachi. I wonder if they would ever include Playmakers in this promo. Buy X food credit and receive X.

Just some random thoughts for discussion:

    * Mail...thinking we can get a friend or neighbor to help.

    * Bills...just about all of it can be paid online.

    * IRS/taxes...can be done online but have never done it this way.

    * Pets

    * Indoor plants

    * House and garden...can you really leave them alone for that long?...I suppose a relative or friend can house sit.

    * Prescriptions...I can ask my doctor to authorize a year's worth of prescriptions in advance.

    * Medical lab test...could be done onboard.

    * Dentist

    * Lastly...and it's a scary thought...what if there's a death in the family and you have to get home?

These are all things that have run through my mind.
No pets and we can find homes for the few plants.

We have 2 homes. One is a condo and easy to leave. If our daughter would have employment in the area of our single family home she could take care of that.

All of our bills are on auto and we receive very little mail, except packages.

Hey, that’s a bonus - less online shopping.

I think I could get prescriptions for the 9 months.

Death in family is something I’ve thought of. Both of our living parents are in mid to late 70’s. Not likely they would pass but that’s always a possibility.

Do they even sell travel insurance for this length of trip?

@Merion_Momwe are only a 4 hour drive to Miami from FL condo. We are new to  FL condo life and I went a bit crazy booking cruises. Have 30 on the books, 5 this year. I think I’m up to 147 days on ships for 2022.

Interesting that one of your primary concerns are toiletries. If you're not comfortable using what the ship supplies and/or just buying whatever is available at ports of call then the logistics may be difficult for you on a trip of this magnitude. A trip like this requires a different mindset than what you're  used to on a typical 7 or 14 day cruise.

Well, I’ve never been able to use what ships or hotels provide. Doesn’t work with my hair type, and I’ve gotten bougie over the years and stick to salon quality. Most females will understand.

Also interested in thoughts on excursions. Is 20-25k enough to see all the

    places this itinerary goes?

  4. @Merion_Momthanks for the link on your Mariner cruise. So far I’ve read up to Rio. Too bad about the photos though. Sounds like you were having a wonderful time. Congrats on winning the trivia

Would you do a long cruise again? I’m just getting into long cruises, so far 14 nights is the longest. So far I’ve book 140+ nights for 2022 but in chunks, 6 weeks is the longest but I’m ship hopping (Jewel, Oasis, Odyssey, and back to Jewel)

  5. The world cruise looks amazing! Told my husband about it yesterday and we are considering booking.

I read that many calls were made to HQ yesterday. Anyone know more about this?

    Does the fare include visas?
Besides the included excursions, how much do you think other port stops would cost. We’ve only cruises Alaska and Caribbean/Bahamas/Bermuda. I would think you would need to budget about 20k pp for excursions

Wonder how much shareholder benefits would you receive, $250 for 60+ days seems low.

As a shareholder I think this World Cruise is a great move.

Then I start thinking about logistics of packing. How many liters of shampoo/conditioner/gel would I need for 9 months? How about prescription meds?

I love that it makes 2 stops at CocoCay!

So…….anyone booked yet? Would love to discuss this trip - even if it is only to dream about it

Can you keep an eye out on what they are doing for bottled versus canned water? We have the beverage package in December, and in the past they handed out small bottled waters at the bar. For a while they were talking about switching to cans, and I'd love to know what's on the Marnier these days,

    Amy

For Labor Day cruise I purchased Evian package. I’m on the end of the month with DBP and will try to remember to update what is offered.

I don’t like Disani, either bottled or canned.

  7. I’m new to living in Florida and I’m a cruise addict. Have 28 booked on Royal for 2021-22. Already worked in 2 and a trip to Universal.

Normally I would fly from TN but all the ports are within driving distance. I’m smack in between Jacksonville and Port Canaveral. Unfortunately no convenient car rentals for one way transportation.

For those of you who do long stretches on ships, got any advice? Most of my trips are 2 weeks but some as long as 6.

I generally solo cruise or have friends meet me on board for a segment.

    Got any tips for parking?

Anyone ever parked somewhere near a tri-rail station and took the train south?

The longest I’ve ever done is 2 weeks. Looking forward to the upcoming long stretches on ships.

    Thanks in advance

  8. @Rogueperson checking in with you post HHN and cruise. I’m attending HHN this weekend and cruise on Mariner for Halloween. Nervous about the mass of humanity at HHN, especially this busy weekend. We do the RIP tours for the evening event and just the daytime tours. No park rides, my daughter is over waiting on me to ride a ride.

I 100% get you about the Jurassic Park ride. I wish you could get off before the possibility of getting drenched. I’d happily ride a coaster for hours but can’t stand the idea of walking around in wet shoes (or worse wet bra)

I did a 3 day on Mariner over Labor Day, never again anything so short. Our Halloween cruise is 4 night followed by 3 more 4-5 day segments, 18 nights total.

Thanks again for the trip report and for including your Universal segment.

    Hello,

But at the DP 'Meal/Cheers with an officer' we were sat together at tables of 8 upwards.

It didn't worry me in itself, but I did wonder about the mentality that thought it was in some way different to the other dining on board.

    Regards,

    Cublet

Probably similar to b2b lunch. I’ll get to experience that next month on Mariner. Anyone have input on b2b dining as solo?

JS have better success on Quantum class for dinner access to CK compared to Oasis class.  It's one of the things I like about a JS on this class, plus a nicer JS compared to Oasis class.  I would suggest if you plan to use CK have a plan before boarding and head straight to CK upon boarding to request reservations for the week.

Having said that some CK nights are better than others.  Food is personal so a menu I like may not appeal to you and vice versa.  For me some nights CK is simply a nicer version of the MDR serving MDR level food and some nights CK has elevated food above MDR standards.  Service is generally better in CK with better crew to guest ratios.

Good to know, sailing solo on Odyssey in February in a junior suite. This will be my first time on this class of ship.

I’ve only experienced CK once before on Allure. We loved the food and was sad we did a Chops+1 specialty dining.
