  1. Very busy morning had coffee. Dressed ready for walk went to fill water bottle NO WATER. water line broke next to house. At time I noticed yard already soaked and water running down the gutter. Within 3 hours fixed and water running again. Have a great plumber only charged $80 - would have been been done sooner but he’s a talker. I’ve been good went to store and only bought fresh fruit. Didn’t walk anywhere but produce. The went home. I eaten better for past 2 days hoping I can stick with it.
  2. Looks like we are all in a slump. Jan - I think this is the time to relax and enjoy life. Get your health stabilized. Please continue to visit, at this point we are all friends and just use this forum to stay connected. Susan a lb is a great loss. I don’t cruise until Nov. I’m having serious issues eating properly. Too much snacking. Wt backup to high end of range. I’m in a mental slump, too hot to consistently get in a good walk. (Jazzper (dog) has declared he doesn’t want to be a mama’s boy- if my son is home he ignores me unless I offer a walk or dog park.) I hope all that are out cruising are having a great time. Belle I hope your winning big in the casino
  3. Good morning everyone. Not going to be a good day already spilled a full cup of coffee. Im back in the lower end of my range. I hope everyone is healthy and keeping active.
  4. Hate hot weather. Too hot most of day. All I want to do is eat - nothing tastes good. There is a ghost that always drags my cart to cookies and candies and fills my cart — so try not to shop very often lol. Hope everyone is staying healthy and active.
  5. This upsets me. Just finished the grand New England cruise July 3. That cruise was very understaffed. Heard about same issues on several of their other cruises. I understand the desire to get cruising again. It has been a terrible financial Time for cruise companies Staffing issues are going to be the biggest obstacle for many businesses. It is going to take a very long time for the smaller ship companies to recover. I don’t think a new itinerary is going to help. I’d rather take road trips for now.
  6. Jo hope you had a good trip Jan glad you are all feeling better. We are all better here. I still have a cough never tested positive. My son tested negative Friday. it is 🥵 HOT here. Also In a A drought so yards turning brown. Still able to get out and walk before it gets too hot. Next trip (road) is in 3 months. Too far away.
  7. FYI I just ordered 8 Covid FREE home tests from the CDC. It also stated II could order more if I hadn’t ordered 2x prior so ordered a second batch of 8. Ombud I wouldn’t use American Cruise Lines at this time — since last weeks cruise it appears they are severely understaffed. Having Covid outbreaks on several different ships. For Mississippi try the the American queen voyages my travel agent just sent me a thick brochure. It appears the pre cruise hotel is covered. Jan sorry your having problems with NCL. I weighed today down 2 lbs since Monday ( had been up 4 lbs since cruise) been eating lifesavers again need to stop -
  8. Belle thanks for starting the week. I will be happy to start the weeks when your gone. Susan a lb is good. Yes the heat is brutal. This is the worst summer since 2009 yards are turning brown. Dog park no longer has grass and some idiot blamed the small kiddie pools for making his dogs sick. ( pools were taken by the park BUT. Glad to say people think outside of the box. - I’ve got a portable pool I bring and other s are brining pools and taking them home — too dangerous not to have a way for dogs to cool off/ I weighed when I got home from cruise . At the high end of my range. Which is 4lbs up. I’m still angry / disappointed about the way we were treated on the cruise - obviously AMERICAN CRUISE LINES only cares about the bottom line - they would have done better to limit passengers until staffing gets better. I working on getting over it. I still have a cough and my son is recovering only had headache , cough and fatigue. Thank goodness for vaccines and boosters. while on cruise I booked a carnival cruise out of Galveston for 6 days balcony room for February.
  9. We got home Sunday. My son waited until then to test for Covid and he was positive. He isn’t real I’ll just staying quiet and isolated. I’m still in disbelief on the cruise experience. Crew were only going through the motions - no attempts to do a good job or make sure we had a good experience. Last morning they couldn’t get us off the ship fast enough.
  10. We had same issues on constitution. Overall I felt the crew was apathetic no excitement are investment in their jobs. I was prepared to sign up for 2 more cruises when I got on the cruise but leaving will never cruise ACL again.
  11. Returned home yesterday July 3rd. Constitution. Basic review excursions - we did a few of the city explorations which were narrated bus tours. // bring several bottles per person of water, no cruise staff on my excursions, some the drivers were also narrating the tour Portland was interesting. Did have stop to stretch legs walk, portapotties Bucksport long bus ride to Bar Harbor. (Bus going had working AC return bus AC was broken long bus ride hot miserable) we were driven into bar harbor switched to a trolley tour of Acadia National park. Interesting and weird. We made 3 stops in the park — per park rules once a vehicle has stopped and the last person exits the vehicle must be loaded and moving in 15 minutes or gets a hefty fine. Bathrooms available on 2 , 3 stop but will be all you have time to do. Last stop was at visitors center but really not any time to shop or explore. we didn’t get to boothbay harbor by ship water too rough (that port requires a tender to get off ship. Nor Provincetown due to storms ( had been told night before that a lot of Covid on island and to wear masks) my biased opinion was the “city explorations” should be renamed the homes of the rich and famous. I was happy that every stop we made had plenty of time to get off ship and take a walk. I walked 2-3 miles every morning.
  12. Jan we did have a great visit . Sorry family had covid. I’m currently at airport flight doesn’t leave until 2 pm. Cruise was 10 days. Missed 2 ports due to weather. Excursions were strange felt like I was taking tours of the rich and famous. This was an ACL river cruise was ready to book 2 future cruises then backed out. There was no enthusiasm from staff . Sometimes felt like we were being scolded for whatever. Then amazingly attitudes changed when a corporate mgr boarded the ship. Too late for me. Food was great but could feels things weren’t at 100%
  13. Good morning everyone. No scales on board ship - I’ve been enjoying the food. Decided not to stress and get back to watching weight post cruise. Every guest tested for covid on dock pre cruise Thursday 6/24positive sent home. Found out on that 26 guests had covid on prior cruise. Monday announcement there were covid guests and crew. The numbers have slowly increased. My GD and 1 felt sick since Tuesday ( she headache and scratchy throat - me head cold and scratchy throat). I was retested because I called med tech for a stronger antihistamine- I was negative. My son finally got the head cold/ headache yesterday( neither getting tested staying in room and wearing masks) There is doing obviously something wrong with covid protocols onboard. Won’t sail with them again.
  14. Currently on the Constitution. Thursday 6/23 All guests were tested for covid prior to boarding ship. At least 3 guests tested positive. Never on the ship. Monday it was announced that several guests and a crew member were tested positive - guests quarantined in their rooms. There are new cases almost daily no announcements. Masks are optional for guests crew are required but don’t wear properly. cruise before ours had covid heard numbers are 26 guests. When all is said and done we will have about the same. this should not be happening. I’m concerned about covid protocol. I have not been sick - I don’t have housekeepers come into my room. due to these issues will not cruise ACL again .
  15. Same routine. Binged on chips and cookies Sat. Back on track. Taste is off Only getting hints of savory flavors. Even some of sweet snacks don’t taste good. Never had Covid. Of course it doesn’t stop me from eating. Fly out on wed. Clothes organized ready to pack.
  16. Good morning to everyone. Same old routine here. Getting anxious which is normal for me pre trip. I’m a nervous Neely. Any deviation from my plan brings me to tears - good that my son is gone until Tuesday - I would drive him crazy. getting ready for morning walk.
  17. Belle thanks for the poem. Ombud wow. 1200 calories. Agree with Belle switch out some corn and peas to greener veggies like broccoli, green beans , asparagus. You are spot on just stick with it. Maybe try intermittent fasting one day a week. wt stable. Staying at low end of range.
  18. Looks healthy ( except granola bars - some can be packed with calories . Just for grins add up the calories. (I use my net diary) it will give calorie count. It will recommend how many calories needed to reach your goal. (I have a very slow metabolism so would eat fewer calories than recommended) You are working diligently on your diet. Don’t focus so much on numbers but how you physically feel. We are our own worse critics. my go to meals/snacks 1/4 cup uncooked oatmeal - cook add cinnamon, I use sweet/low, when cooked add 2lg egg whites. (109 calories) snack 2 oz drained tuna fish and 3 oz fresh pineapple (100 Calories) As I dieted I constantly changed my goals. Started with 10lb loss which could take a few months initially goal 5 lb a month which went to 3 then 2 then 1. Get out of sizes that had X’s, then L, anything in Medium was great. By having a variety of goals gave me hope.
  19. Another hot day in Houston. Jo I totally understand about the chips. I try to keep temptations out of the house I have poor self control. Belle and Susan I’m very envious about you b2bs. Like Ombud not doable with Jazzper (14 and getting more stubborn all the time) Son gone for weekend — this is when I swiffer wash the tile floors, dust etc. we are going to try the kayaks with bike pedals this week (optional paddles are attached. Getting to my best weight has been life changing. Now if I could subtract about 20 years and not have a caution/fear of falling There would be no limits to crazy activities . Everyone be safe, stay out of the heat and keep hydrated.
  20. Belle you are awesome at keeping up with everyone’s plans. Yes my cruise is in 2 weeks. I’m getting excited. Will relax once we get to Boston. Laughing with my son this morning -rented a car for pre day will drive to Kittery - anticipate gas to cost as much as rental. Jan a close dog park friend just got the same report as you from mammogram. I think this is the absolute worst time - the not knowing - being on limbo. It’s time for you to wear purple and learn to spit. (Look up the poem). I hope you make your August cruise. Tell your Dr it is important. The cruise will be therapeutic (make the scheduling of events about your needs not their convenience)
  21. Susan as for my nursing license. I couldn’t retire fast enough. . Last position was hospital case manager the stress was unbelievable. I could have made $$$$$$$$$ as a per diem but it wasn’t worth my health. I would not have survived if I had to work during peak of Covid. Ombud my son is long term at this time. It’s nice to have someone in the house. He cooks I do the dishes.
  22. Love cruising welcome . Join the weekly datedhread thread. We weigh on thursdays. I started seriously eating better 2 years ago. Had a health scare (which was nothing). Normal lab draws found my A1C to be 9.8. Since diabetes can affect all body systems if out of control I got serious. Declared I’m addicted to sweets. Refused meds, controlled by calorie intake in a month my A1C was 7.2. Within 3 month was 5. Lost 100lbs. I don’t like gyms. Walking is my only exercise. Walk 3-5 daily - which my dog loves.
  23. Good morning. That 2 lbs from last week is back. Currently at low end of range. Getting excited about cruise . Started organizing for trip. Summer is here. We are expecting to break100 this weekend. Going to kayak again tomorrow. Really enjoying my son he likes to cook. He rides bike and there are amazing bike trails around me he can ride 30 miles with only crossing one road in the park.
  24. Good morning everyone. Jo good loss for you. Got 2nd booster yesterday. Huge decrease in hospitalizations but stil have acquaintances who are testing positive. For me just means definitely wearing a mask at the airport, plane and crowded areas. I’m hopeful Jan and I get to meet up. Has created a new idea to add to bucket list - going on same cruise with others in this group. (Could meet for a buffet lunch). Still walking goal 3-5 miles a day — this morning Jazzper was in the mood to chase squirrels behind the community pool. He stalked while I walked 15 laps. Walks with Jazzper are always leisurely - we have no one to impress. It’s nice to have my son in the house. Spends weekends with GD. Bikes a lot., eats healthy. Jazzper adores him.
