  1. Jan yay on last week of radiation. If you can, go braless - or get a jockey front closure bra a size or two larger for comfort. Great your same as September. Ombud scales the same. 1/2 inch is nominal- just bloating. I thank this group for keeping me on track and maintenance. I could easily slip back into old ways. everyone have a great safe weekend
  2. Last weigh in for October. Be strong don’t be tempted by the candy sales. I was buying groceries and found my self massaging bags of candy thinking which ones would be great to take on my thanksgiving cruise — I was strong and didn’t buy any. Its 47 degrees this morning, have my fleece sweatpants on ready to go for a walk. I’m in the middle of my range. I actually never lost an ounce from my tummy tuck surgeries - I am pleased with the results. ( I had thought I would drop my range from 123-128 to 120-125) when I joined this forum I started on small goals first one to get to onederland ie gets out of the 200’S. Susan good to hear from you. Ombud glad it’s only minor smoke damage . it’s nice that everyone is cruising . I have a thanksgiving cruise - will be with both sons, grandchildren, my x and his wife’s daughters and granddaughter. Goal of 14.
  3. I’m feeling VERY BLESSED to have my son here with me. Saw 2 women I had not seen in months one for 2 years at dog park. Both had sons die this year, one an unintentional overdose and one died suddenly in the shower. Every day we are alive, independent, have friends and family, we are very very fortunate. weather is starting to cool a bit. Nice walking weather.
  4. Welcome Katie. Belle happy birthday. So frustrating when internet down. I really don’t think anyone noticed I was late. I like that everyone is relaxed. Ombud by the third day I was done with the ups and downs. Did find some trails but area is very rocky which makes me nervous. Southern Texas is very flat enough so the JOHN Denver mentioned it at his Corpus Christi concert ( which I think was his last ) . Jazzper is glad to be home and flat trails. Jan I think your doing great. You sound like me weight is variable that’s why I’m content with my 5 lb range . I hope your treatments are running smoothly.
  5. Just got back from Eureka Springs, Ark. Had a great time. Lots of walking steep inclines/declines many between 30-45 degrees. Jazzper needed to be carried the last night he just said no more. Didn’t eat horribly but not good either. Will check wt next week. I hope all are doing great.
  6. Weighed this am delighted I’m same since last weigh in which is in middle of my range. I think my continued walks keep me in check. Had funny dream last night - involved JAZZPER in the dream I noticed he had fleas then he wandered up a hill next thing I know he’s humping a small reindeer LOL Ombud great loss.
  7. Good morning Belle and Jan. Belle nice surprise to see you today. Just got back from Walmart. Cruised the candy isle - didn’t buy any. Did buy a pack of 6 miniature donuts. leave Sunday on a road trip to ozarks with my son. I’m truly enjoying his company. Taking advantage of him willing to travel with me. Haven’t weighed still focusing on recovery. Still walking lots. A neighborhood dog has joined us twice (I’ve named him Butch he is calm doesn’t seem to want to be touched , I think he just likes the company )
  8. Jan yay almost half way through radiation. When I had mine 30+ years ago it wasn’t bad because I did it right after work and wasn’t too far away so no real interruption in my daily schedule. I think I would get tired of going if I had to break up my day ( not that I’m doing anything.LOL) 0.6 not too bad of again basically staying the same. saw plastic surgeon yesterday. ( had sent a text msg and photo to nurse - stating I felt ignored and needed issues addressed ) drain removed been in 4 weeks still draining, sutures removed from 3 small areas, blood clot evacuated. Puckered incision the edges are super sensitive , he said will go away in time my reply was I doubted that. Nurse reminded me that I was still on light activity ( I wasn’t going to mention I’m taking 3 mile walks every morning. - walking with Jazzper IS light activity , he has to sniff everywhere.) Weather has been awesome.
  9. I thank everyone for their comments. Advice has been iawesome. I’ve been thinking about a SS Galapagos cruise in 2025. Found the door to door enticing since I’m a Nervous Nelly when it come to airports etc. I have a CC who provided some info. I know now I need to be specific on air travel, ie a nonstop flight which shouldn’t be a problem since I’m in Houston.
  10. Ombud looks like you are shooting for under 10000 calories. Does that work for you.? Drink lots of water, limit salt intake, watch out for white carbs ( rice, potatoes, bread). I use an MYNETDIARY app to keep track of calories. Good luck. Jazzper and I walked abt 3.5 miles this am. Had to carry him about 1/3 mile - he kept stopping or wanting to go a different direction luckily he only weighs 15 lbs. weather has been awesome.
  11. Sorry for a late start. I’m easily distracted and forgetful. I’m in the middle of my range. Happy with that. Having problems with surgical drain/ not Draining properly. Left msg for Dr. Nurse texted me he was informed but never heard back. weather has been wonderful getting 3-4 miles every morning. Hope everyone is staying on track.
  12. Jo I still think your doing great. My suspicion is that your gains would be more if you didn’t checkin. Have a wonderful cruise. Ombud - I had my vertical skin folds removed from belly - last of my surgeries - did much better this time. Already walking 3-4 miles in am since weather has cooled off. Expect the drain will come out end of next week which is how long other drains were in. Staying the same is good.
  13. Good morning everyone. Hope this has been a good week for everyone. weighed within my range which is great, since I’ve been eating more calories for an optimal recovery. Still have a drain which always seems like forever before it gets removed. Everything looking great. Jan you’ve had one week of radiation correct? All down hill from there Belle and Jo I hope your having great cruises. Susan are you cruising?
  14. Love to hear about everyone’s cruises. Belle yes I will start each week. Have fun same routine. Thinking about doing a Galapagos cruise in 2025 ( I’ll be 75 ).
  15. Good morning. I walked around the community pool while Jazzper kept me safe from squirrels. will be a while before I weigh, I’m still carry post op weight .
  16. Belle thanks for the info. Doing B2Bs is on my bucket list for me when 75-80 (not an option as long as I have Jazzper - he brings such joy to my life) My life is perfect - my house feels like a home with my son and our Russian friend. Mentally clear and happy. The healthiest I’ve been in 25 years. Plethora of dog park friends and lose before cruise friends. Best post op course - still have drain which is normal for me. Have a road trip to Arkansas next month - then have 4 different cruises from Nov - July.
  17. Happy Saturday to everyone. I’m feeling great head and neck back to normal. See surgeon on Monday. I’ve been trying the different compression garments to find the most comfortable. Able sleep in the bed. I’m only walking JAZZPER around the community pool. only on the leash while walking around one house to get to pool. Then he’s off leash squirrel hunting. He listens and doesn’t pull. Susan welcome home. You’ll be back in shape in no time. Ginger 2lbs is great. Your heading in the right direction. I’ll also be watching the Queens final journey. I have a question for the b2b2b……cruisers. When you have free cruises do you still have to pay port fees and taxes for each cruise? I’m planning for the future. No reason I can’t join the club living an hour from the Galveston. Of course won’t start until Jazzper crosses the rainbow bridge.
  18. Nice to have you back Belle. neck better this morning. Just got back from short walk with Jazzper ( per surgeon office im not suppose to walk the dog no leash use for awhile. That Doent apply to me LOL.). ive been successful maintaining same wt for a year. Belle as much as you cruise I think staying the same is remarkable. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Jan sounds like all is going well.
  19. Happy birthday Jan. I must have been difficult for anesthesiologist- feel like I’ve got whiplash hurts to tip head back and side to side. I know it will ease up with time. It is nice to have my son here. He cooks shops and Jazzper loves him. Eating what I want - getting in calories to help healing.
  20. Slept well. Easiest recovery so far. My son said he was getting up early this morning and take Jazzper for a walk . It’s 930 and he’s still in bed lol. Jazzper and I walked at 8am just a sort trip around community pool to check for squirrels. Eating lots to insure a good recovery. When I cruise I get to see a lot of crew members who tend to go unnoticed - I think I’ll get a bunch of $2 bills and had them out during morning walks.
  21. Surgery went great. No pain .from incision. I have one drain. Had a .5 inch fatty tumor removed that developed bleeding issues. Now have Hematoma size of egg which hurts will take awhile to be absorbed and bruising to fade —- no bikini for awhile 😂🤣🤪 Belle happy birthday. You are so thoughtful to the crew. Kindness, respect and inclusion are priceless gifts. I like to bring candy to share.
  22. Jo I think a lb is great for you. Instead of thinking 16 lbs change to 5 increments. For me smaller goals helped keep me motivated. Jan 33 treatments sound better than 20. During the simulation they will mark the area to be radiated with small sharpy marks. (I had a fine tip sharpy that I would use to reinforce the marks that would fade from bathing.). At this time relax and try not to bring tempting food into the house - I can’t ration smaller treats, just eat until gone. I’ve been on a cleaning binge this morning. Getting a little worried about Jazzper next weekend . My son goes to Chicago late Thursday to Sunday. My gut is telling me to have friends pick him up Friday morning and keep him. He’s soooooo spoiled he will expect his usual walks. I’m a nervous Nellie - tend to over think everything. This surgery is only an hour and I have the same anesthesiologist who did a great job in March.
  23. It is an hour to hobby and about an hour and a half to IAH. Most cruise lines recommend not booking flights earlier than 2pm post cruise.
  24. No gain is incredible. I sincerely agree exercise/walking works. I enjoy early walks on carnival -can easily get in miles just walking the decks. I go in 4 miles in this morning longest walk since the heat wave. I’ve been casually working on my flower beds . it has been very quiet here for a few weeks. I usually drop in chat nonsense just in case newbie’s drop in.
  25. Belle glad your back and had a great time. Weather has cooled to low 90s nice the morning walks. Stayed the same which is perfect. Won’t report weight for a few weeks - have surgeryMonday to remove the vertical abdominal skin folds. (For peace of mind - they make me sad) . Have to fix fence gate. Caught Jazzper pushing the corner to shimmy under gate. BRAT I’ll replace 1-2 boards the attach a latch about 6 inches from the ground to secure the edge. The watch to see if he has alternate routes of escape 😝
