  1. You're thinking of the Blood Bites and Dark Sites tours in Romania.
  2. It may be a cost cutting measure, but I suspect it's a response to current dietary preferences. Good vege dishes can be more expensive and labor intensive. Note I said "can be". 😃 I love meat, but find myself eating less of it. Plant based diets with a smaller animal protein are becoming more prevalent.
  3. There is not enough room in Colonnade to handle the passengers load, especially when weather is not cooperating. Therefore The Restaurant should be open to serve people who would like to eat in a timely and more importantly a civilized manner. If they want to be a Luxury Line, then be a Luxury Line.
  4. Beggars can't be choosy. Besides, the Tributes are sometimes better than the original.😃
  5. We loved the hotel, just not the noise! Very historic, and the Grand Cafe, yum. Just ask for an interior room or one on the side away from square, although that one did get some street noise. There was a Sport Outlet across the street that had some great stuff. Perfect for Scandinavian weather.
  6. Good to hear. Yes, the outside area is lovely on all the ships, inside still has that awful cafeteria feel. Perhaps the right designer can find a subtle fix for that in the evening. Lighting, tablecloths, etc. The food....much harder until staffing levels return. On our last trip, the buffet food was never warm unless you waited for a fresh load. Ordering was a nightmare due to staffing issues. Indian market which is usually a nice diversion was mediocre. Every dish was lukewarm and tasted of the same spice mixture. Thai night was decent. TK nights, used to be a well attended highlight. Same poor execution. How about going back the well executed theme nights, not leftovers form last nights Restaurant menu? We were lucky enough to have Chef Pia on all 3 Silversea expeditions last year. Granted smaller ships, less people, a more adventurous crowd but she delivers every day. Menus always had an interesting ethnic dish. Vegetarian dishes were more than some tart with canned veges and cheese. I commented one day that she even made my Turkey wrap taste like it had it's own Michelien star. In short, how about some flavor, varried cuisine and a few more vegetables. Enough with the old model of protein, starch, and sauce. Thanks again for all your posts! You own wit and humor on this site.😃
  7. Thanks for sharing this information. Very positive news. During our recent 3 weeks on Encore, the only place with decent food was Earth and Ocean. Often quite delicious. Kudos to Tony Eggars. Give that man more power and a raise. Although time to loose the ridiculous smoked chicken. It is a time sink for overworked staff. Colonnade was at best a hospital cafeteria. And that's an insult to hospital cafeterias. The Restaurant was so bad we sometimes got 'take away' from onshore and asked them to serve it.😃 We did not have the confidence in the kitchen to ask for special requests.
  8. Thanks M. Yes, amazing video. And thank Lola for reposting. OK, I need a time out - or more gin in the water cooler. I thought it was somewhere on the Live from Venture Voyage Tracker Blog. Couldn't figure out the page 3 post 58. Should have been my clue. Also fun to follow, don't forget to hit the Hamburger in the upper left. https://www.seabourn.com/en/us/experience/voyagetracker/index.html
  9. Maybe it's my old tablet, but can't find the thread. Would you consider posting a link. Thanks much.
  10. Thanks for the link. That is tough news. Looks like only Gritviken is open for landings. We have 5 days there in March. Most disappointed. Please keep us posted on your experience.
  11. Thanks for the info. Nice to hear that Daniel Fox gave the boys a special experience. Looks like you got some quality time with the whales. Nice!
  12. Those are some mighty big Louboutins to fill. It is a rare and special place thanks in no small part to you. I'll do my best to sweep the peanut shells and keep the bar stocked. Velvet hammer is under the counter. Remind me, how much gin do you put in the water cooler when you change the jug?
  13. @markandjie I feel your pain. We had the perfect Antarctica trip on Quest 2017/18. We didn't want to do it again for fear that another trip there couldn't live up to the perfection we experienced. Nevermind all that, we are headed back in February followed by Cape to Cape, on SS Cloud. Thanks to your excellent report, I have dialed my expectations way back. I can't remember if you told us who the expedition leader is. Care to share again? On trying to cross the Antarctic circle - Does anyone really care except the marketing people? Thanks again for your report. Look forward to follow up.
  14. Care to share more about The Thief? It seemed close to the fun, but away from the fray. Did you find this to be the case?
  15. Looks interesting, thanks for sharing.
  16. Oslo Last visit we stayed at the Grand Hotel Oslo. While the rooms and hotel were lovely, the club on the roof, which blared club music every night till 3 a.m., puts this hotel on our NA list. Same with The Grand in Stockholm. Street noise can also be a problem. Lots of rowdy partying types. Next trip we will try The Thief. Great location on the Promenade. You'll find numerous restaurants at your doorstep. We enjoyed Lofoton (the restaurant). The ferry to all the museums on Bygdoy Island is very close. Go see The Fram. More than just the ship, great history lesson. Hop on Hop off gives you a nice overview of a relatively small city. Copenhagen We like Hotel D'Angleterre. It's a tough town as everything is so expensive. A poorly rated 3 * will still cost an arm and leg. The National Museum of Denmark has an amazing history exhibit that takes you from Neolithic to current day. An easy to follow narrative with artifacts from every era. Nyhavn is the waterfront canal and entertainment district. Lots of restaurants and very crowded. Worth a stroll for a waffle cone. No shortage of castles and historic buildings. Have a great trip and keep us posted on what you find.
  17. All so very interesting, thanks for taking the time to post.
