  1. C'mon Santa. Don't get stuck in the chimney. Rough couple of days for the market. Ever notice how hawkish Powel gets when the market rallies? If the S&P drops another few hundred will the Dove come back out? A side note on the economy. We are in Chicago for the Holidays. We have been out every night for the last week with friends and family, which will continue through next week. It's killing me, I'm too old for this😃. Restaurants are jammed. Dinner reservations are hard to come by at many restaurants in spite of 30-40% higher prices. Sticker shock is an understatement. These expensive bars and restaurants are full of 20-30 somethings. No wonder they can't afford houses. It's a mortgage payment just to go out for one night! Where is all this money coming from? Has the stimmie run out? Has their Stimmie savings run out? Are they putting it on credit cards? Some data says yes. Going to be in interesting first quarter.
  2. I'm just guessing based on the Venture schedule and cruisemapper, so please don't shoot the messenger. The Holiday Cruise began on Dec. 15. Venture left Ushuaia yesterday and is in Falklands today, Dec. 17. So perhaps one day lost? The bigger question for me is why not still go to South Georgia, if in fact that is still the current plan. I'm sure all will be revealed at some point. 😀
  3. My source tells me that the days they loose in South Georgia will be spent in Falklands and Antarctica. So there is a good chance with extra days they will get some quality time there. But mother nature may have other plans.😀
  4. Unfortunate. But at least you know now and can cancel as opposed to a last minute port change. Al Ulla is getting an Aman. Perhaps you can just spend some time there.😀
  5. Also heard from someone on board that South Georgia has been canceled. But at least they will get Falklands and Antarctica. So perhaps all is not lost.
  6. You might consider checking the status of Guayquil. Our excursions were canceled there last month due to the ongoing cartel violence. We had police escorts at our other stop Ecuador.
  7. Hey Terry, I've been bit tied up so don't have any micro detail, perhaps others do. But I don't believe the swings were specific to RCL. They mirror the S&P chart. That rally at the opening on Tuesday off the inflation numbers quickly faded once they got into the weeds and the market realized perhaps they weren't that great, and that there was still plenty of inflation. Just read some info on lots of RMDs happening now. We got a stubbornly Hawkish Fed. Throw in a little FTX crypto entertainment. All that with the double top at 4100 seems to be raining not snowing on the Santa Claus rally.
  8. That's because they were horrified at being given a stemless glass.
  9. @cruiseej And then Silversea just had a zodiac which flipped (possible due to a wave from ice falling or flipping) and dumped everyone in the water; I don't think anyone was injured. Thanks for this information. First I've heard. Just wondering where you heard and if there is more information available. Thanks.
  10. Good to know, thanks! Might have to squeeze in a trip back there.
  11. Thanks Wes, always go to know that a Credit card backs up their refund promise.
  12. Just watched it. Nothing earth shattering, puff piece with lots of chearleading. Their focus is on additional on board revenue, tackling debt, going green with LNG, energy prices. Discussion of new ships including the 7,000 passenger mega water slide ship that I'm meeting @RetiredandTravelon. 🤣 Rah rah rah. For some data I found interesting, see pics of TV screen. Have a great weekend everyone! Remember Christmas Cookies have 45% fewer calories than other cookies.
  13. Sounds fab! Look forward to hearing about your trip. Stayed at the Hilton Moorea a number of years ago and enjoyed it. And taking the ferry is so easy. Especially getting on and off a cruise ship. I wonder if the Intercontinental Moorea will ever reopen.
  14. We will be in Tahaa for New Years into January. It will be an actual vacation as opposed to an adventure. Me and the Coral Gardens, Ahhhhh. 😉 What about you? Just an add on. I will say that I thought that the Papeete airport testing during Covid was the most efficient government process I've ever been through. And the most efficient mass covid testing process we went through during all our travels. Didn't want to sound whiny when they did such a great job, so kudos to them.
  15. Thanks @Tahitianbigkahuna & @AussieBoyTX I was sure there would still be hoops to jump through, and couldn't believe my own research. 😁
  16. Just wanted to check in with the experts. I'm not seeing any Covid entry requirements for U.S. citizens coming from the mainland, including Covid testing and entry forms filled out in advance. Am I missing anything?
  17. Nothing worse than going to the briefing and finding out you're in the 6am group.
  18. Tim Draper........or son of Spock? Bizarre that I had never heard of him and now he's all over the place. Watching him on TV as I write. Says his call for $250k will be caused by a flight to quality. And also that women have not discovered Crypto that much yet, they don't see what the real benefits are yet. Women control 80% of retail spending and once retailers accept bitcoin the women and the retailers will see how beneficial this is for them. It's the equalavant of going from shells to gold. 🤣🤣🤣. I had to rewind to be sure I really heard him right. Tried to quote him accurately. I have this vision of a TV commercial: Women discover Crypto and run out to buy Louboutins like they are on sale at TJMaxx. You can't make this up is right! Before I forget, the CFO of Royal Caribbean Nagtali Holtz is on Bloomberg Wed 7:30pm MST. The show is "Bloomberg Chief Future Officer". Could be interesting.
  19. I happened to catch that Cathie Wood interview. She was spewing the same double talk that Bankman used to and all the other "believers". Same beady darting eyes. I can't believe people keep giving her money, even with her track record. Is ARK still down about 60% for the year? Don't know Draper either.
  20. I'm with you Terry. There is no there there. But to many, the Emperor is still wearing clothes. It could be the hologram of him wearing clothes that they are seeing and believing, created by those core Crypto kings that need to keep their financial ponzie scheme afloat. I knew we were reaching new heights of craziness when I found an FTX ad in my fortune cookie. Then came the super bowl commercial, naming rights and magazine cover. We are now entertained daily by Bankmans mea culpa interviews. Listening to him explain the co mingling of customer segregated funds sends me rolling on the floor with laughter. "It's all Omnibus". "I don't know how it happened". "I've had a bad month". "I really messed up". "I didn't have the bandwidth to run two companies at once." 😂🤣🤣 Customers could check a box if they agreed to lend their Crypto out, but those that didn't check the box were ignored and funds were lent out anyway. Boom. He needs an adult time out in the big house.
  21. Just catching up on threads. Did I miss the announcement?
  22. SIX water slides? Well gee maybe I was a tad too hasty. One of our guilty TV pleasures is Mighty Cruise Ships. I find myself mesmerized by the monsters. The sheer logistics of it all. I'd like to take a tour. Even thought of trying 2 days on one to satisfy my deer in the headlights fascination that they even exist. But SO snapped me back to reality and put the kibosh on those thoughts. 🤣
