  1. Problem will be ports possibly closing for traffic. Tamp looks like it will most likely close on Thursday so Paradise may get stuck out longer then planned.
  2. We booked day beds last time we went. Was great, day beds used to be first come first serve and free now you really need to book well in advance if there are multiple ships in. Price was $50 last time we booked about 2 years ago, haven't looked at prices yet for our trip in February.
  3. I would anticipate delays from Birmingham, The storm is set to make landfall early Friday morning in the northwest corner of Florida then come up through Georgia and the east side of Alabama. Problem will be the planes leaving from effected airports elsewhere. hopefully by Saturday flights will be back to normal but always safe to make alternative plans. Driving from Birmingham is not horrible, about 8 hours to Orlando. Are you cruising on the 28th or the 29th?
  4. Well looks like another storm is brewing and will impact the Western Caribbean by late Tuesday the 24th. Looks like there are 9 ships calling on Cozumel the 24th and 25th so expecting canceled calls to the port. Also, looks possible for Landfall on Thursday with modals predicting anywhere from coastal Louisiana to West coast of Florida. Carnival Valor is schedule to arrive and depart Thursday in New Orleans so depending where it makes landfall this could be heavily impacted for both returning and departing cruise passengers. Carnival Paradise is also scheduled to arrive and depart from Tampa so again, watching to see which direction the storm turns. It appears the East coast of Florida is safe for now.
  5. We stayed in the 2 bedroom Haven on the Escape, and My wife and I stayed in the Master ( we paid more to get the Master lol) and the other couple traveling had the second bedroom. They are both average size adults and had no issue sleeping in the pullout bed in the second bedroom. Only issue is it is low to the ground so pretty much rolling out of bed lol. We will be on the Getaway February and have the 2 bedroom again with 4 adults and 2 kids 7 and 8. Same arrangements as last time and the boys will share the pull out couch. Great way to enjoy the Haven for much less then traditional double occupancy. Cheapest Haven for 2 was about $6300 including my discounts, we got the 2 bedroom haven for 6 for $8200
  6. Getting an upgrade on board is no more. Remember, the upgrade advantage can be awarded even when someone is on board. So, say there is a no show, or day of cancelation say for a Haven Suite, they will simply take the most profitable bid from the upgrade advantage. Traveled with friends and we were on board for over 2 hours already and they got a call from the Front desk advising they had won the bid and could change cabins.
  7. Aboslutly not! Paradise beach has a great pool and loungers. Food is good and service has always been great. Paradise beach is a more relaxed atmosphere comparable to a few others. We go there every time we are in cozumel, our next visit will be February.
  8. So for example, our cruise for Feb 2nd on the Getaway currently has 10 Haven Suites left, now over half of them are the 2 bedroom. Final payment is due on October 3rd i believe so right around then you may see a price drop on certain cabin. Also you may see more cabins become available as some end up canceling prior to final payment. I do mock bookings almost daily making sure the there wasnt a major price drop on our haven suite.
  9. I have cruised many times out of new orleans and always on NCL, and always park at the Fulton Garage. I park my car the day before we cruise, stay the night and return without any issues.
  10. Have stayed in the Aft Haven suites on the Breakaway and can say have not had any issues with fuel smells. Now, if you are in your cabin at night during one of the parties at SpiceH2O you will here the music, but the music is usually wrapped up around midnight.
  11. Winning bids for the Haven are almost non existent now. the year after cruising restarted I won 2 bids into the Haven, both were forward facing Haven suites on the Breakaway. Now, i simply book the Haven and every cruise so far the Haven has usually sold out about 60 days out. We are staying on the Haven on Feb 2nd on the Getaway. We are traveling with another couple and they have 2 boys 7 and 8. We were able to get the 2 bedroom Haven suite for $8,200 for 6 people. We split this down the middle so $4,100 a family. Now since their were 4 of them and only 2 of us, we split 50/50 so we get the master bedroom as well as the 2 specialty dining nights. Haven cabins prices have gotten crazy, but having another couple that you can travel and stay in the same suite makes it affordable.
  12. yes it will be around the desk or even in the drawer
  13. We booked on airport parking.com, we use Fulton garage. Typically no need to book it but I know the week before superbowl the city has so many events so we didn’t want to get there and not be able to get a good location. We use the Fulton garage across from the convention center

    Paradise Beach

We have been to Paradise many times, and will be back February on our Norwegian Getaway cruise. Tipping, I never even look at the itemized bill lol, if the waiter is good he gets a good tip.
  15. So, we just booked the Norwegian Getaway for the February 2nd cruise which returns to New Orleans on Sunday February 9th Superbowl Sunday. Once i realized i immediately made sure I booked parking for the Saturday before through Sunday the 9th, as I am pretty sure the entire week before Superbowl New Orleans will be crazy. Hotel the night before wasn't to bad staying about a block away from the convention center. My question is, how will Sunday morning be leaving New Orleans? I know we will be heading the opposite direction but should we expect major delays as we head back to North Carolina? Been a few years since we went out of New Orleans, but the price was great and the couple we are traveling with has never been there.
  16. Cab or Uber is very easy. About a 5 minute drive to Cocoa Beach from the port.
  17. Couples massage for $269 looks good, wife has been begging to do one. Might take advantage of a discount while ship is in another port.
  18. We had our 9 night cruise canceled on the getaway 2 days prior due to a hurricane. NCL obviously refunded the cruise but then gave us a 50% future cruise credit. We were booked in the Haven so was a pretty good credit.
  19. So we are sailing MSC for first time in September. I will say, we have cruised all the major lines and as far as the buffet goes they are all crazy lol. Ships are going to be crowded especially in peek season which is why we tend to sail off season from September to say around February. Finding a lounge chair can be difficult especially if you are one to sleep in and not make it to the sundeck till 11 or 12. Wife and I are typically out around 9am so always get pretty good spots. The crowds are part of cruising and we just go with the flow.
  20. Agreed, you should never take the shuttle as it is hit or miss if you leave fast or sit for 30 minutes,
  21. So $360 PP for 12 nights equal to $30 a day in drinks. Depending on what you are drinking let’s say each drink is $7 you would need to drink 4 per day to break even basically and everything else above that would be gravy. plus I believe a crown and coke is more then $7. So me personally, get the FAS drink package and never worry about having a bar bill at the end of the cruise.
  22. So to the OP, will you have a beverage package (FAS), if so sodas are free. If not, sodas are not. But wow, I haven't purchased a soda onboard in a lot of years as we always have the drink package, but holy crap, $4.20 for a can of soda!
  23. Every cruise I have ever been on out of Miami ships are usually tied up between 5am and 6am. Express walk off around 7am. So as long as there is no delay getting into Miami you should be at the airport before 8am.
  24. I would say that all the major lines, CCL, RCCL, MSC, NCL will have good night life especially leaving out of Miami and Port Canaveral. Larger ships have better venues so you don’t need to worry about the ship being dead at night. Now Princess I will say the nights ended pretty early when I was on the Regal Princess.
  25. Always call as I get the 5% for status as well as 5% for booking more then 9 months out too
