  1. So cruising both CCL and NCL out of New Orleans here is my opinion. Glory compared to breakaway as a ship, hands down goes to the breakaway! Food? I am not picky but would give NCL the edge because of variety of restaurants. But we like about carnival is the food choices right on the pool deck! Entertainment, breakaway hands down. Drink package with ncl allows 2 drinks per card about every 5 minutes, carnival caps at 15 alcohol drinks but does include specialty coffees and water but at a cost of about 900 for a 7 day cruise. Wife and I are drinkers on vacation so drink package goes to NCL. We prefer ncl for several reason but #1 reason is the Haven. We have sailed in the haven our last 3 cruises and 4th booked for January.
  2. I remember when I worked onboard NCL and we would dock in St George for 3 overnights! always loved St George! trying to remember the Bar right at the Dock we all as crew would end up at after the nightly entertainment was done on the ship.
  3. We are on the Escape in January 2 bedroom Haven Suite. We booked with another couple who have never stayed in the Haven. Wife and I covered $5500 and the other couple covered $3500, so we get the master lol. But we will all enjoy the amazing bathroom in the 2 bedroom Haven suite. I swear I book this suite simply for the floor to ceiling windows in the bathroom
  4. Thanks for the info. We are long passed the days of three outifits. Wife and I live in the our bathing suits most of the day and then change into our night time attire. I will bring a suit or 2 as MSC seems to be a little more dressy then NCL. Wife wears a dress almost every night so easy to pack them lol
  5. We are Haven Cruisers, have our next in January on the escape but will most likely be our last as we have MSC Yacht club booked for our next one. We were able to get an Inside YC suite ( i know no balcony) cheaper then a regulars balcony on NCL. MSC Tier Matched us so we will be Gold after just one cruise with them. I am hoping the YC lives up to what i hear from everyone else.
  6. Its hit or miss if they ask, wife and I traveled with my stepdaughter (16) and her friend (17) on NCL last April. We had all the paperwork completed and notorized, and was never asked for it by the terminal staff. But always better to have it then not.
  7. I can say for the majority of Caribbean ports there is no taxes off the drink packages. But absolutely on embarkation day there is taxes on all drinks till you leave US waters.
  8. Yes, outside entrance will be a person with a haven sign flag, they will ask your names and then bring you into a seperate area where you will go up an elevator then through private security and check in. Then after that up an escalator or elevator to the lounge where you will wait to board
  9. We are booked on the Escape first week of January! Thanks for the review. Wife and I have been on Breakaway several times and the Joy as well the past few years, all Haven Suites. Looking forward to the Escape 2 Bedroom Haven this time around.
  10. We status matched prior to ever booking was assigned sliver which gave us the 5% plus booked more then 9 months out so got another 5%. Able to get YC inside for $3200. First time trying MSC so we went with the cheapest cabin in YC. We usually cruise I. The Haven on NcL but there prices have gotten stupid
  11. Honestly we took our daughters friend 17 on a cruise with us in April. I filled out all paperwork, and eve had a legal documented drafted and notarized just in case...NCL nor anyone else ever asked for it during embarkation or disembarkation. But always better to have it then not.
  12. So I recently took my daughter and her friend (17) on a cruise with my wife. We had gotten the Consent form as well as photos of her parents IDs and had them prepared when asked. When we checked in, nothing was asked for. I always am prepared just in case.
  13. We are in the YC next September for first time and also First MSC Cruise ( Typically Haven on NCL but for YC for $3200 could pass it up for 7 night cruise) Glad to hear that Beer is stocked daily as my wife and I are typically beer drinkers.
  14. Harvest Cay is very Hot, We were there in April and we were the last ship of the season due to the heat. The Pool is huge and amazing has a swim up bar as well ($$$). They have Kayak rentals as well as solar powered 2 person boats which were fun and not to expensive. The beach is great! The walk is pretty good from gangway to the pool area, but they also have a shuttle if you dont mind waiting for it.
  15. I am booked on the Escape for January 2024, Everything I see regarding the Epic is either you love it or hate it. We decided to stay with the Breakaway + ships since we already know them. Would like to here some comments from people who have sailed the EPic
  16. I am all about GSC being first instead of last day of cruise
  17. A relaxed Atmosphere is Paradise Beach! Wonderful Pool, great water toys, all inclusive drinks and made to order food. Jet skis, bananna boat rides parasailing available. We were there last in april and belive it was $69 per person for adults and $44 for under 18
  18. I am loving the Review!!! Wife and I are typically Haven cruisers but are trying MSC YC because the price was about half of NCL for next September. So excited to try it
  19. Dear lord! Pulling service charges! Pretty sure you should just stop cruising
  20. What time is your hotel available when you stay the night before a cruise? Check out 11am check in 4pm. 5 hour window. Last guest of say 10:00am rooom available say 3:30?
  21. Better idea, if waiting 3 hours for your room, choose a later arrival time get on the ship at day 2:30 and room ready in an hour or so! Problem solved
  22. Really all the servers on board had somwthing to do with a toenail in your room
  23. I have been reading these posts today and its almost getting out of hand. at the end of the day if you don't like something or how something is done, you as the consumer have absolutely the right to not purchase or go. I hear people mentioning back in 2005 rooms were ready by 1:00pm or close to that. Well those ships in 2005 where not the size of the ones today. Do i like waiting untill say 3:30 to go to my cabin? Nope! But will I allow this minor thing to cause me to say I will not cruise anymore? Nope! Also, the carryon issue, We use a backpack to simply carry on Medicine, BAthing suites and documents.
  24. So I will speak to experience as a former Cruise Line Employee as well as a NCL Cruiser also. Turn around day is always insane. I have boarded the ship as early as say 10:30 to 11:am and the cabins were ready between 1 and 2pm. But also this past Joy Cruise embarkation started around 12:30 due to USCG inspection and cabins were not available till around 3:30. NCL does not have a set time when they release cabin just like they can not predict a set time when disembarkation will be completed. In my previous years working on ships, once the debark PAX number hits 0, meaning all guest from previous cruise has left, embarkation typically starts within 15 minutes.
  25. So depending how independant the teens are would make a huge deciding factor. My traveled with a 16 and 17 year old who were very much head out do their own thing, so in that case Vibe passes would work. If they will want to be attached to your hip the entire trip then may want to skip Vibe
