  1. That is great if Princess brought back the table on those balconies on those class of ships!
  2. Not sure if the larger balconies on the Emerald/Ruby on Caribe Deck 10 have tables again?
  3. What ship and cabin. category.... It looks like on the new ships the Premium larger balconies forward and aft on Dolphin deck have actual tables. I would love to book one of those!
  4. From the ones you find available, I would go with E403. I have been in E405 right next to it. And loved the even bigger balcony. You will be close that first forward lifeboat, which will be slightly below the line of vision from your balcony. But, other than that, no obstruction, just overlooking that deck area below. NOTE: there are lights on the railing of that deck area which might shine up towards your balcony at a night. Wish Princess would adjust that, but doubt that they have. This cabin, unlike the ones on Port side above Crooner's, will have no sound/noise from below. Also, if you book a cabin, such as this one, and another cabin in that same category comes available.... Then you can move. For example, if cabin E405 or another one with a bigger balcony opens up because of cancellation or upgrade, then you can switch over to that cabin. As long as it is the same category.
  5. Thanks! Yes, I see that UBD is listed for this cruise. Didn't know if it might be just old, undeleted info. But looks like it is back! I thought about ultimate balcony dining, and asking, begging, bribing (hahah!) for them to leave the table. But I know that this would be strictly prohibited, and I wouldn't want any staff to end up in any trouble! From reading another thread here, after searching, I wonder if the small square side table on the balcony would sit on an upside down drawer. The drawer would have to be a bit bigger. I also wondered if the shelves in the storage closet where the safe is would be removable, or if they are firmly built in. Not sure what the measurements of those shelves would be? It would be nice to have a small table and tablecloth for a light breakfast, coffee, wine, appetizers, etc.
  6. Hello! I know that they took these away years ago. We always loved them, starting back when sailing the Ruby on deck 10, years ago! I am not seeing any good options for like collapsable temporary or camp tables. None of them have the extendable legs that would make them more easy to pack. all I see here is a tray table that has legs that open like a scissor. but still not really packable. I believe that they have tables now on the new ships on Premium Balconies on Deck 9. I would really want to book one of those just for that. Larger balcony with the actual table on it!
  7. Biting my tongue, really really hard!!!!!
  8. Too bad you didn't check out Princess for Alaska... Princess is really THE way to cruise Alaska! I hope you and your grandson have a great cruise on the Regal!
  9. You will get mixed responses to this.... Some kids really love just cruising. And, the kids club on Princess will have the usual space and activities. (I haven't been onboard with a child that age, so I do not know any detailed info) Personally, for me, I would not say that Princess has a lot to offer, as compared to other cruise lines that have kids water/park area, rock climbing, wave rider, even a racing motor-cart track on one ship. Those just will not be on the Regal. For an itinerary like the one you are planning, I would LOVE the regal. I would choose her in an instant. It is one of my favorite ships. But, maybe not-so-much for the 8 year old. Maybe he is low-maintainance, and doesn't really need/want those extra active things onboard. This kind of thing is always personal preference! Weighing what everyone in your family would be happier with. Ship, Ports, etc.
  10. Yes, I think the same as Jimmy! Great minds think alike!
  11. Yes. Could be just another 'yawwwwnnn'. Or, could be better than the current promo. Notice they always say 'up to'. but, up to 40% could be better than up to 25% The free 3rd and 4th passengers is not a benefit, sailing just the two of us. I will log in tomorrow and check it out.
  12. So many different considerations, especially if you have never cruised. There is a big difference between ships. I do prefer a ship that is a bit large and newer than the Caribbean Princess. Look at photos and videos and deck plans Read reviews. My pick would be Alaska if I had never seen Alaska. But, that is personal preference. Two very very different cruises! Majestic does do Glacier Bay, which should probably be a 'must' for a first time Alaska Cruise. The one thing that I do not like about the Majestic is how they put a row of cabins on both sides and enclosed the adult pool. But, in Alaska, a cooler weather cruise, that would not be an issue. You would probably enjoy this area on the Majestic. You do not seem to be a sun-seeker! Yes, the Alaska ports are commercialized, centered solely around the cruise industry. I would probably want to do anything other than checking out the port and the 'shopping'. But, there should be plenty of Princess excursions for you to experience what you want. I hesitate to even mention cruise lines other than Princess. I do think that Princess is probably the cruise experience, without kids, that you are looking for. But, Princess does not do many shorter cruises. For a short, trial, cruise, you might consider other lines? Just know that, especially when most kids are not in school, especially on some other cruise iines, the experience could really be night and day.
  13. Yes, go for the larger balcony!!! There are NO drawbacks... they have the exact same covered footage and privacy as regular balconies. Yes, if you go out to the edge of the balcony, you can be seen. But that is not really any drawback. ( A non-covered balcony would IMHO be a huge drawback ) We were in one of those Caribe cabins, and it was really great! If this is an adjoining cabin, then, now that you have the new category, you can simply switch to any other available cabin that is not adjoining. The cruise deck plans on other major web-sites actually show the adjoining door on the diagram. On Princess, simply go to select a cabin, and when you click on an available cabin the information will come up that will tell you if it is adjoining the next cabin or not. Enjoy! (PS: yes, there might some confusion about the names for the cabin categories. Premium means it is a premium cabin, because of the larger balcony. On Royal class ships, Royal and all ships after, Deluxe Balcony refers to a cabin where the actual cabin interior is a bit bigger, and they fit in a small two seater sofa.
  14. Yes, we can see that is def. a glitch!!! But, if by putting in additional passenger(s) this will get the system to pull up the cabin, maybe then we can go ahead and book them. Make sure you try with both 3 and 4 passengers again, and see if that doesn't help.
  15. I looked for a Deluxe Balcony, and put in three passengers instead of two... Voila! Most all of the Deluxe Balconies then showed as available. We are trying to keep the sky-high post shutdown fare down, so we might not change to the Deluxe. But, I now know that we can! But, here is another issue. When I put in for 4 passengers, they all disappear again. But, with no rhyme or reason, there are a few select Deluxe Balconies in other sections of the deck that do show up for 4 passengers. The key is to try three passengers and 4 passengers. I don't think there is consistency when categorizing/marking these cabins as either 3 or 4 passengers. Aren't the sofa's pullout? Shouldn't that make all Deluxe Balcony cabins at least 3 occupancy? Or maybe some are pullout and some are not. On another non-Princess website deck plan, the ones that will accept 3 passengers show the mark for 'third pullman'. The ones that will accept 4 passengers show the red circle mark for third and fourth pullman'.
  16. How soon is the cruise you are looking at, and how booked up is it. Could it be possible in your case that the specific area of the ship, the Deluxe are actually be booked up? I am going to try mine again to see what happens.
  17. On AARP website, they have had these electronic gift cards at a 10% discount. If you have AARP and are signed up there, you are good to go. (you can just sign up for an account on AARP) These should be under rewards, and then make sure ALL REWARDS are selected. Then you could forward the info and numbers to her. She would then have to take the info to the front desk, and as mentioned, they should be able to put this in her onboard credit. NOTE: Definitely tell here to see if she can get into the spa ASAP!!! I hope there is s till good availability for all of the Extras that she could choose from!
  18. Thanks, Hit the water! Okay, while I am sitting here instead of doing something more productive... I just looked up Island Oasis Margarita Mix and their Sour mix. Yep. First ingredient in the Margarita Mix is Cane Sugar. The ingredients in the Sour Mix are similar. (no orange) but Sugar is 2nd or 3rd on the list. Definitely in the "Information that might somehow, someday, be useful" file!
  19. That is exactly what I thought about that big 24K Margarita. No wonder it wasn't even sweet. It tasted like and watered down tequila!! Will definitely try other drinks and margaritas, like you order.
  20. Okay, this will only confuse you and overwhelm you even more. Sorry!!! I wanted to say also, that you might not have gotten Glacier Bay, and many Princess Cruises do have this on their itinerary. If you are not sure, I would highly recommend looking at sailings that will spend a day cruising Glacier Bay. If so you might want to consider Northbound/Southbound one way itineraries that will take you farther North, toward Anchorage, Hubbard Glacier, College Fjord. I think the Majestic is doing that itinerary.
  21. I prefer the Regal, for sure. But will just say that If the Crown is sailing, but with speed/propulsion limits, this might not be an issue on an Alaskan cruise, as the time to bet between port stops is pretty short. To the original poster... Yes, do spend some time researching deck plans and reviews and photos of the different ships.
  22. The way to know if a cabin is adjoining, on Princess web site, is actually select that cabin, and then the information will pop up, which indicates any adjoining cabin, or Adjoining. - NA. none. Other websites show the little adjoining door between cabins on their deck plans. I understand the thing with the 'bright orange lifeboat/tubs', but the move was only one deck up from their original cabin. I would consider other aspects of the location, such as convenience, connecting cabin, etc... before making a move. Most cabins will be subject to a lifeboat below, unless one is far forward, far aft, or far up on one of the upper decks. All of those come with their own considerations. (more walking, ship motion, etc...) I am assuming that the mid-ship cabins on those decks are all taken.
  23. You can't get more mid-ship than that. Either AFT, FWD,UPPER,LOWER. Great location. I, like the others, do not think of these locations as too problematic. Maybe the occasion 'loud' passengers. I might consider changing ONLY if you wanted one of the larger/deeper balconies on the ship, and some were still available.
  24. I also agree, as a person who enjoys the REGAL, changing over to the Crown Princess might not be my first choice. But, we all have different objectives and preferences!
  25. I think that changing this should be pretty seamless, since you are well before Final Payment Date. Yes, of course it will require a completely new booking. I am sure Princess will shift all funds over to your new booking. It should be seamless and painless for you. As mentioned, your old booking may have come with perks. Any new booking will be with the current Fares and Promos shown for that new booking right now.
