  3. Your story seems made up and does not match up with what they told the OP. They were BSed saying it was a Penthouse guarantee. Anyone seen one of these? That would rule out your theory if you believe them. 😁 The auction company should have a procedure also. If it is the fault of the auction company Celebrity should take care of it or hire a better/more competent auction company. Any way you spin it, not good for Celebrity.

  6. Yes. In the Celebrity case they would have given the car to the VIP or whomever had spent the most in the casino... Except the State DA would have ruled that they must give a comparable car to HCAT for the agreed upon price. The US laws are different from maritime laws. Not that they should be. Now customer service is yet another issue as are business practices.

  9. Just curious how the UK views reneging on auctions? Are cruise lines given a free pass on the laws because they are flagged in another country?
  10. Wait a second. They bid on the room and apparently were the highest bidder. I would bet my money on 50 State Attorney Generals concluding that this is a sleazy business practice. They are were awarded the room in an auction. They were then charged for the room and given boarding passes and luggage tags. They then reneged on the auction. Sleazy, sleazy, and sleazy business practices. My apologies that you cannot understand...

  14. It is not the privilege. It is Celebrity's misuse of the privilege and their handling afterwards. I can see how a room might need to be down for a sailing for maintenance. Perfectly acceptable. However one would hope that they would make it up in other ways. Giving it to someone else because they are more important? Not acceptable. Celebrity's handling of the situation after mistake #1 also unacceptable...
  15. The 5 star resorts that I stayed in several months back had impeccable service. I will be going back. My next planned vacation is a resort vacation. I did not book while on board last time with Celebrity ... I see no reason to settle for oops. I will just change the places that I stay at and cruise with lines that have better customer service and better service in general... There are hotel/resort brands that I have had to cross off of the list and new ones that were added.
  16. I am asking myself the same 😄 I don't have a cruise booked with them to date. I was considering Celebrity for a Japan cruise as they have a better itinerary, but with the weekly Celebrity snafus, I may just have to go with another line... I just sailed with them several months back... It is not that the other lines don't make mistakes. It is how you deal with the mistakes...

  19. Just don't leave the lid/seat up 🤣 It is Celebrity's response or lack of to these incidents that makes one wonder ... Most of these issues are fixable with adequate customer service.
  20. @george_sf I don't think that you will get much sympathy on this board. There are many cheerleaders/apologists whose view is that Celebrity can do no harm. Last week they were attacking someone who got sprayed with poop and had issues getting seen in medical and getting the problem resolved.

  23. It is stories like this that make me wonder why I sail Celebrity? Why? At a whim they could move me to whatever cabin they want...
